  • Patent number: 6094208
Abstract: In this digital color copier, laser beam scanner units of the same configuration are arranged in parallel with each other, and all are controlled in a unified manner by a laser control unit provided outside the units. In order to synchronously rotate the polygon mirrors in a precise manner, the speeds of rotations of their motors, fed back from tacho-generators are compared to the reference frequency generated from an oscillator so as to allow a motor control circuit to control the driving motors of the polygon mirrors. Further, the BD signals from beam detectors (BD) are fed back to the laser control unit so that all the BD signals from the laser scanner units for black and the three colors can become synchronized with each other, thus enabling control of the polygon mirrors.

  • Patent number: 6086734
Abstract: A thin-film depositing apparatus of the present invention deposits a sputtered film on a substrate in a sputtering chamber, and removes the substrate having the sputtered film deposited thereon from the sputtering chamber via a load-lock chamber by a robot arm. As a system for controlling the sheet resistance of the sputtered film deposited on the substrate, a measuring device using an eddy current method is mounted in the proximity of a substrate outlet of the load-lock chamber and measures the sheet resistance of the sputtered film of the substrate removed from the substrate outlet. With this structure, it is possible to provide a thin-film depositing apparatus which stably measures the sheet resistance of a thin film deposited on a substrate and performs feedback of the measurement result to control the film deposition conditions so that a thin film to be deposited on a subsequent substrate has a desired thickness.

  • Patent number: 6085063
Abstract: A document scanning unit is disposed so that a scanning direction of a document on a table glass by a lamp unit is equal to a longitudinal direction of a photoreceptor drum provided in a mechanism unit. A face-down tray is mounted above the document scanning unit, and a face-up tray is positioned on a side of the apparatus opposite to the face-down tray with respect to the mechanism unit. The discharge-opening switching section switches the discharge openings so that a recording sheet is discharged to the face-down tray in a printer mode, or to the face-up tray in a copy mode. This structure enables a reduction in the size of an image forming apparatus by decreasing the width of the apparatus without increasing the height thereof. Moreover, with this structure, it is possible to perform the discharge of sheets according to operation modes, namely the printer mode and the copy mode.

  • Patent number: 6084614
Abstract: Featured is an imaging forming apparatus that provides minute particles having a uniform diameter and being uniformly charged. The image forming apparatus includes a supplying member that supplies charged developing particles, a counter electrode disposed opposite to the supplying member and a control electrode disposed therebetween and including a plurality of passing holes serving as passages for the developing particles. While a potential for generating a predetermined potential difference is applied between the supplying member and the counter electrode, the potential being applied to the control electrode is changed in order to change an electric field existing between the supplying member and the counter electrode. This controls flying of the developing particles passing through the passing holes in a direction from the supplying member to the counter electrode, and thus the forming of the image.

  • Patent number: 6083588
Abstract: A heat-resistant sheet is provided between a fusing roller and a pressing member made of a resilient material. The heat-resistant sheet is composed of a glass fiber substrate coated with or impregnating a fluororesin having good mold lubrication and heat-resistance, such as PFA and PTFE. A paper having a pre-fused toner image is carried through a section between the fusing roller and heat-resistant sheet. Accordingly, wear or separation of the heat-resistant sheet caused by friction with the fusing roller can be prevented, thereby improving durability of the heat-resistant sheet.

  • Patent number: 6082856
Abstract: A method for constructing a soft contact lens having a prescribed power correction for focusing light on the retina of an eye is described. The method provides a soft contact lens that, when in place ("flexed") on the wearer's eye, is designed and manufactured to provide a substantially ellipsoidal anterior surface. In the method, an eye model including a cornea, a crystalline lens and a retina is constructed. Then a shape for an anterior surface of the cornea is selected to be a conic section having an eccentricity in the range of about 0.14<e<0.63. Next, a preliminary soft contact lens is selected having a center thickness, a radius, a posterior contact lens surface and an anterior contact lens surface to provide a prescribed plus or minus correction power such that, when applied to the anterior surface of the cornea, the anterior contact lens surface defining a conic section having a shape factor in the range of 0<E<1 or -1<E<0.

  • Patent number: 6084296
Abstract: A method for providing pre-placed, pre-brazed feed throughs in the substrate of a hermetic package corresponding to the terminal leads of the encased circuit COTS components. The substrate may include directly bonded copper (DBC) regions forming circular shapes where the holes for the special connectors of the present invention will be located. These holes will correspond to the leads of the COTS component that will be mounted to it. Holes are laser or mechanically drilled into the substrate inside the circular shapes formed in the DBC. To form the feed through, a bushing, such as a blind copper rivet, is brazed in the hole, with the open end thereof oriented toward the component-side of the substrate. These open ends can accept the leads of the COTS component, like the holes of a conventional PC circuit board.

  • Patent number: 6081342
Abstract: A request condition managing table is provided to a request-sender digital copying machine. For example, when the request-sender digital copying machine is reset to a predetermined condition, the PCU of the request-sender digital copying machine outputs a clear signal to a request-receiver digital copying machine through a transmitting apparatus, so that the image data stored therein on behalf of the request-sender digital copying machine are cleared. Alternatively, the operator can erase such image data manually by checking the request condition managing table. In this manner, when the image data read by the request-sender image forming apparatus and stored temporarily in the request-receiver image forming apparatus become useless, the request-sender image forming apparatus so notifies the request-receiver image forming apparatus and directs the same to erase the image data, thereby preventing the request-receiver image forming apparatus from storing useless image data over a long period.
