Patent number: 4903021Abstract: A signal transmission system and method is provided in which analog signals are sampled quasi-randomly and the samples stored. The samples are thereafter retrieved with an equal interval between them and transmitted. At the receiver, the transmitted samples are stored, decoded and reconstituted with the original quasi-random sample interval therebetween. The transmission system and method permits the faithful capture and transmission of signals across bandwidth limited transmission systems even though such signals lie outside that bandwidth.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 1988Date of Patent: February 20, 1990Inventor: Stephen W. Leibholz

Patent number: 4765995Abstract: A whipped low fat and low cholesterol tofu product which comprises a soft, creamy, water separation resistant tofu spread having a substantially creamy texture is described together with a method of manufacturing a soy bean curd with such qualities from a firm relatively non-porous tofu brick by coating the brick with a thin mellow white miso coating, fermenting the coated brick, removing miso from said brick, steaming said brick, and thereafter whipping said brick to form a creamy texture.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 1987Date of Patent: August 23, 1988Inventor: Robert J. Pirello

Patent number: 4764596Abstract: Lignin is precipitated in high yields and at high rates from a black liquor produced by pulping wood at high temperatures and pressures with an aqueous lower aliphatic alcohol solvent. The lignin is precipitated by diluting the black liquor with water and an acid to form a solution with a pH of less than about 3, an alcohol content of less than about 30% by volume and a temperature of less than about 75.degree. C. The precipitated lignin, when subsequently dried, is in the form of a powder which requires little or no crushing to convert it into a fine uniform size suitable for use without further significant processing.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 1986Date of Patent: August 16, 1988Assignee: Repap Technologies Inc.Inventors: Jairo H. Lora, Raphael Katzen, Malcolm Cronlund, Chih F. Wu

Patent number: 4752697Abstract: A cogeneration system including a heat engine driving an electrical generator coupled to electrical lines at a site serviced by a utility is disclosed. The system includes supervisory means for monitoring the electrical energy and/or power supplied by the generator, supplied to the site by the utility, and consumed by site electrical loads, for storing monitored electrical data, and for controlling operation of the engine and generator in response to the monitored data. The system further is provided with data representing the energy and power rate structure of the local utility, and with a real time clock, and stores monitored electrical data and controls operation of the system in accordance with whether the time corresponds to a utility peak, intermediate, or off-peak energy rate period or to a peak demand measuring period. The system further comprises means for monitoring the thermal energy transferred from the engine to a site thermal load by heat exchange means.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 1987Date of Patent: June 21, 1988Assignee: International Cogeneration CorporationInventors: James P. Lyons, Richard Topper

Patent number: 4702661Abstract: A robot carrier structure constituted by a portal wagon movable on rails and laterially supported by a pair of carriages each comprising a pair of wheels longitudinally coupled by motion transmission means actuated in synchronism by an electric motor. Further the two electric motors of the pair of carriages are so connected as to constitute an electric axis. Each wheel has a structure adapted to ensure a high adherence to the rail, particularly due to the provision of a pair of rings of elastomeric material engaging the rolling surface of the rail.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1985Date of Patent: October 27, 1987Inventor: Luciano Bisiach

Patent number: 4701332Abstract: A novel whipped low fat and low cholesterol water separation resistant tofu cheese spread with a substantially soft creamy texture is described. A method of manufacturing a tofu cheese is disclosed from a firm relatively non-porous tofu brick by coating the brick with a thin mellow white miso coating, aging the coated brick, scraping miso from said brick and soaking the brick in water until the salt content of the brick reaches equalibrium with the water and thereafter whipping such brick to form a creamy texture.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 1985Date of Patent: October 20, 1987Inventor: Robert J. Pirello

Patent number: 4685726Abstract: A rotating and sliding tray is affixed to an arm of a geriatric chair to afford a service tray for the occupant that is neatly and securely stored at the side of the chair. The tray is slidably mounted on a movable and rotating holster so that vertical, longitudinal and rotational movement are all accomplished to place the tray in front of the occupant.Type: GrantFiled: February 29, 1984Date of Patent: August 11, 1987Assignee: McKesson CorporationInventor: George H. Wolpert, Jr.

Patent number: 4685160Abstract: A portable three piece bed assembly is disclosed comprising a foldable spring deck adapted to be easily mounted on a frame assembly which further separates into two pieces to permit easy assembly, disassembly, and transportation of the bed assembly unit by a single individual wherein the unit comprises a body supporting assembly including a multiple-position, back-supporting member and multiple-position, leg and knee supporting members.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 1985Date of Patent: August 11, 1987Assignee: McKesson CorporationInventor: Dennis P. Rizzardo

Patent number: 4669390Abstract: A robot carrier structure constituted by a carriage movable on rails and supported on four wheels two of which are mounted on a driven shaft and two are idle wheels. Each drive wheel has a structure adapted to ensure a high adherence to the rail, particularly due to the provision of a pair of rings of elastomeric material in engagement with the rolling surface of the rail. Engagement means movable laterally on the rail are provided to increase the adherence of the drive wheels.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1985Date of Patent: June 2, 1987Inventor: Luciano Bisiach
