Abstract: The present invention is directed at methods for preventing or minimizing the intensity of the serotonin syndrome in humans and lower animals which comprises administering proserotonergic agents and serotonin surge protectors. The present invention is also directed to pharmaceutical compositions comprising proserotonergic agents and serotonin surge protectors useful for carrying out the method of the present invention.

Abstract: A system and method for compiling selected information from a plurality of individuals is disclosed. The system and method of this invention may include a first portion comprising a plurality of criteria identifiers, such as a birth date, birth year, age, zodiac sign, name, profession, nationality, country of citizenship, favorite sport, hobby or interest, or other criteria. Each criteria identifier may display to a user the criteria for selecting the individual to input said selected information such as an individual's signature or other information. The system and method may also include a second portion comprising one or more storage elements, each storage element being associated with at least one of the criteria identifiers for storing and inputting the selected information. Once information is input into a particular storage element, that specific criteria identifier (e.g. birth date) associated with the storage element may be eliminated from being used to select an individual.
Abstract: An apparatus including sensors that aid in the location of a stylus within the groove of a rotating record. The location of the stylus corresponds to a portion of an audio waveform present at a unique location within the groove. Using the correspondence between the location of the stylus and the portion of the audio waveform, an external digital source may be synchronized with an analog waveform. A high speed digital data path connects a control unit including a turntable platter to signal processing unit. Software in the signal processing unit synchronizes the analog waveform and digital signals from the external digital source.

Abstract: The invention relates to microscale cell separating apparatus which are able to separate cells on the basis of size of the cells, interaction of the cells with surfaces of the apparatus, or both. The apparatus comprises a stepped or sloped separation element (16) interposed between an inlet region (20) and an outlet region (22) of a void that can be filled with fluid. The void can be enclosed within a cover (12) and fluid flow through the void engages cells with the separation element. Only cells which have (or can deform to have) a characteristic dimension smaller than or equal to the distance between a step and the cover or body can pass onto or past a step. Modifications of surfaces within the apparatus can also inhibit passage of cells onto or past a step.

Abstract: A treeless exercise saddle for training racehorses is provided. The saddle comprises a top surface having a substantially contiguous seat portion adjacent to opposing side panels, and a substantially flat pommel area; a bottom surface opposed to the top surface of the saddle and having a pair of opposing conformable panels affixed to the bottom surface of the saddle. The conformable panels have substantially rectangular cross sections. Optionally, leg flaps may be affixed to the seat portion and the pommel area. The facing surfaces of the conformable panels, together with the bottom or other surface of the saddle, form a gullet area. The gullet area has a cross section wherein the facing surfaces are substantially straight, and wherein the bottom or other surface of the gullet area is substantially straight and substantially perpendicular to the straight facing surfaces, such that the racehorse's spine may protrude into the gullet area when the saddle is mounted on the racehorse.
Abstract: The present invention provides methods and apparatus for forming an array of multiple nanotube tips that can be utilized with AFM technology. The multiprobe tips may be independently modified or specifically left unmodified. Software can generate a composite image of data collected from two or more of the independently modified and unmodified tips.
