Abstract: Iodoisocyano, iodourea and oxazole modified 1,3 dioxep-5-ene ring monomers are synthesized and used in copolymerization reactions with trioxane to produce acetal copolymers with backbone functional groups. The invention also concerns processes for the production of acetal copolymers containing iodourea and oxazole functional groups from acetal copolymers with backbone double bonds.

Abstract: The invention concerns a method for producing an acetal copolymer containing backbone bromo-functional groups comprising copolymerizing trioxane with 5,6,-dibromo-1,3-dioxepene. The invention also concerns methods of modifying acetal copolymers containing bromo-functional groups and the copolymers produced by the methods of the invention.

Abstract: Acetal copolymers of trioxane and 1,3-dioxep-5-ene having a high degree of crystallinity and specific mole percent incorporations of 1,3-dioxep-5-ene are synthesized. The invention also provides a process for producing highly crystalline acetal copolymers by copolymerizing triozane and 1,3-dioxep-5-ene and precipitating the copolymer product from solution. The copolymers show much improved stability against halogen degradation.

Abstract: The present invention concerns a switching mechanism for electrical devices where the operations of each device are controlled by turning the page-like switches of the mechanism in a manner similar to turning the pages of a book. A preferred embodiment of the invention concerns an integral telephone and telephone answering machine.
Abstract: This invention relates to a method for the active or passive immunization of a vertebrate against ectoparasites and endoparasites, and a method of treating a vertebrate host infected by ectoparasites or endoparasites, comprising administering to the vertebrate an immunogen comprising one or more endocrine products of ectoparasites and endoparasites, coupled with an immunogenic carrier, or administering to the vertebrate, monoclonal antibodies capable of binding to the native form of the endocrine product.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method for contraception comprising the active immunization of a female mammal against zona pellucida using a composition comprising an effective amount of anti-idiotypic antibodies formed against anti-zona pellucida antibodies, which anti-idiotypic antibodies express internal images of zona pellucida antigenic determinants capable of eliciting a contraceptive response.

Abstract: A watercraft comprising an efficient, directionally stable and maneuverable hull construction useful for recreation and water sports. In a preferred embodiment the hull has an outwardly projecting flange longitudinally positioned along the periphery of the hull substantially about the waterline, whereby the flange increases the directional stability and maneuverability of the hull and keeps the wetted surface area of the hull to a minimum.
