Abstract: A portable electronic apparatus able to suppress a drop of display precision concerning a bearing due to a drop of a detection precision of geomagnetism accompanying non-contact communication by electromagnetic coupling etc. and a calibration method of a geomagnetism sensor are provided. When a non-contact communication function part (111) carries out non-contact communication, processing concerning the calibration of a geomagnetism sensor (110) and processing calculating the bearing after the end of that communication are performed so as to suppress the drop of the display precision concerning the bearing accompanying the non-contact communication.

Abstract: A detection device and a detection method are disclosed. The detection device comprises a sample inlet (132) that allows liquid samples flowing from a collection chamber (20) to a detection chamber (10), which comprises a through hole (135) that allows gases circulation between the detection chamber and the collection chamber, and a sheath (140) that prevents liquid samples from entering into the detection chamber from the collection chamber via the through hole. The detection chamber contains test reagent strips (120) to detect whether samples contain interested analytes. The detection device further comprises a protrusion (131) that enables the detection device standing tilted in the traverse direction. The detection method comprises collecting liquid samples as the first step, followed by standing the device tilted in its traverse direction through a protrusion support, and detecting whether samples contain the analytes.

Abstract: A ceramic heater comprising a rod-like ceramic member in which a metallized layer is formed on at least a part of an outer surface of the ceramic member, and a tubular metal fitting in which at least a part of the ceramic member is inserted, the inner surface of the tubular metal fitting and the metallized layer being brazed through a brazing member. The ceramic member has a small diameter portion in a region which is located closer to a first end of the ceramic member than the metallized layer and which is inside the tubular metal fitting. A part of the space between the small diameter portion and the inner surface of the tubular metal fitting is filled with the brazing member, the inner surface facing to the part of the small diameter. Consequently, even under severe conditions, such as a high temperature and/or a high pressure, a highly durable brazing structure, such as the ceramic heater, including a brazed portion which has high welding reliability can be obtained.

Abstract: A system for welding a tub of a railroad tank car includes a manipulator boom adapted to move with respect to the interior surface of the tank shell. A hybrid laser arc welding head mounted to the manipulator. A supplemental gas metal arc welding head includes dual wires of welding material and is mounted to the manipulator adjacent to the hybrid laser arc welding head. An inductive heating coil is mounted adjacent to the supplemental gas metal arc welding head. The hybrid laser arc welding head welds a seam of the railroad tank car shell with the supplemental gas metal arc welding head following to generally complete filling of a resulting weld joint with welding metal. The supplemental gas metal arc welding head is followed with the inductive heating coil to provide heat to normalize the resulting weld joint.

An interface is provided between a merchant or the merchant's bank and the bank or banks at which the consumer has accounts for card-based transactions. For example, multiple transaction cards may be linked to a single credit account with each card having a different credit limit. As another example, each transaction card may be restricted to a particular merchant. As yet another example, a consumer may link several credit and/or debit accounts to a single transaction card; the consumer may pre-select criteria to be utilized for directing charges for a particular transaction to be applied the different accounts. Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for calculating an optimal revenue total yield for both sleeping and function space in a hospitality establishment for a set of demand that includes both group and transient demands. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the revenue optimization problem is characterized as a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) problem and solved using MILP techniques. Preferably, a small value is assigned to the “cost” of a room upgrade and the cost of room upgrades are included in the revenue function to be optimized.
