  • Patent number: 5584908
Abstract: A process is provided for the production of a nickel metal powder by reduction of an ammoniacal nickel (II) carbonate solution essentially free of metallic nickel. A soluble silver salt is added in an amount to provide a soluble silver to nickel weight ratio of 1.0 to 10.0 grams per kilogram of nickel, an organic dispersant, such as gelatin, is added in the amount of 5.0 to 20.0 grams per kilogram of nickel Ni (II), together with a spheroid-promoting agent such as anthraquinone in an amount of about 1.0 to 5.0 grams per kilogram of nickel. The solution is heated to a temperature in the range of 150.degree. to 180.degree. C., with agitation, under a hydrogen pressure of about 3.5 MPa for a time sufficient to reduce the ammoniacal ammonium nickel (II) carbonate solution to micron-sized nickel metal powder. A high purity, micron-sized nickel metal powder of generally spheroid particulate configuration is produced. The nickel metal powder has an average particle size of about 0.5 microns.

  • Patent number: 5447057
Abstract: A template for taking erosion/corrosion measurements of a piping system for logging a history of the piping system over time using a method which comprises the steps of: (a) Wrapping a template about the pipe component; (b) Aligning the template with a reference marking on the pipe component; (c) Taking a wall thickness measurement at each of the spaced holes; (d) Recording at least the wall thickness measurement at each of the spaced holes and the indicia of the spaced hole location. The template extends circumferentially about the pipe component and has a plurality of spaced holes arranged in a grid pattern which holes extend through the template for receiving a probe for measuring wall thickness of the pipe component. The template has indicia for identifying each of the spaced holes.

  • Patent number: 5282579
Abstract: An extensible spacer device for setting a gap between an impeller and a screen of a size reduction machine comprises a first collar having an axially extending bore, an internal thread on an inside surface of the bore and a circumferential shroud extending axially, a second collar having a base portion, a barrel portion and an axially bore extending therethrough. The barrel portion has an external thread adapted to threadingly engage the internal thread. The shroud is adapted to cover the barrel portion and frictionally engage the base portion when the first collar threadingly engages the second collar. A calibrated scale is on the base portion and a plurality of gradations circumferentially extends about the shroud to indicate an axial length of the spacer device as the first collar is rotated relative to the second collar.
