  • Patent number: 5785124
Abstract: A method of increasing the production from a well completed to a reservoir is disclosed. Generally, the method comprises the steps of installing a venturi device within the well. A gas is injected within the annulus and introduced into the well. The venturi device creates a zone of low pressure within the well as well as accelerating the velocity of the production fluids so that the inflow from the reservoir is increased. In one embodiment, the venturi device is associated with a gas lift mandrel located in the well.

  • Patent number: 5762389
Abstract: An apparatus for releasing an attached load, with the load being attached with a sling is described. Generally, the apparatus comprises a plate having an underside face, and a latch member, operatively associated with the underside face, for latching and unlatching the sling from the load. The apparatus may contain an activating line attached with the latch member, and activating member, operatively associated with the activating line, for activating the latch member. The apparatus may further comprise a spreader bar that is selectively attached to the plate. In the preferred embodiment, the latch member comprises a first member mounted on the plate, with the member having an opening therein, a second member mounted on the plate, with the member having an opening therein, and a third member mounted on the plate, with the member having an opening therein.

  • Patent number: 5760316
Abstract: A device for transmitting an electrical current through a bulkhead, with the bulk-head having an opening therein. The bulkhead has a first side that is under a pressure. The device includes a housing, fitted within the opening, a pin contact operatively positioned within the housing, and a solder cup operatively associated with the pin contact. A generating member, operatively adapted to the solder cup, for generating an electrical current representing a measured physical parameter within the bulk head is included. The device further comprises a sleeve member adapted for coupling the generating member, the pin contact and the solder cup so that the electrical current is transmitted from the generating member to the pin contact. A sealing mechanism is included so that the pressures within the bulkhead are prevented from migrating through the device.

  • Patent number: 5720348
Abstract: A device for cutting a wire line is disclosed. Generally, the device comprises a tubular member having an inner diameter therethrough for placement of the wire line. A power mandrel is associated with the tubular member. A housing is operatively associated with the mandrel. Also included will be a rotatable cutting blade pivotally attached to the housing, and selective attachment means (operatively associated with the mandrel and the housing) for selectively attaching the mandrel and the housing together. The device may contain an activating member for activating the rotatable cutting blade into engagement with the wire so as to cut the wire. The device may further comprise a wire wedge member, positioned within the mandrel slot, that is adapted to wedge the wire into engagement with the mandrel. In one embodiment, the rotatable cutting blade comprises a disc member having a channel therethrough for receiving the wire, with the channel having sides contoured to cut the wire.

  • Patent number: 5713267
Abstract: A novel cooking device is disclosed. The cooking device includes a container having a top portion and a bottom portion. A heating element is included, with the heating element being adapted to the bottom portion of the container for generating an electric heat source. The cooking device also comprises a cover plate for the electric heat elements, with the cover plate having selectively opening passages for allowing the electric heat to be channeled into the device. The device further comprises a valve member adapted for allowing the release of the generated heat source at the option of the operator, and a fire box container adapted to the inlet of the container. A wood heat source is contained within the fire box container for generating a heat source. A plate member is positioned above the heating elements so that a wood heat source chamber is formed.
