Patent number: 5234121Abstract: A telescoping container has an inner section which is telescopically movable into and out of an outer section and has biasing means formed integrally with the sections to normally bias said sections to an untelescoped position. When pressure is applied to said sections, the biasing means yields to permit the sections to move to a telescoped position. The biasing means comprises biasing elements integrally formed on one section aligned with and engaging the biasing elements integrally formed on the other section. Coupling means are provided to prevent the sections from becoming detached from one another.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 1992Date of Patent: August 10, 1993Inventor: Win H. Chen

Patent number: 4790344Abstract: A fluid flow regulator 10 comprises a body 11 defining three converging flow passages A, B and C between inlets 14, 13 and 12 respectively, and outlet 15, which is connectable to a suction source. Passages A and B each includes a valve. Turbine 16 in passage C drives actuating means periodically to operate the valves thereby to cause passages A and B periodically to be opened and closed in tandem. The regulator may be employed to suck predetermined quantities of fluid from two sources connected to inlets 14 and 13, respectively. Another embodiment serves as displacement apparatus for a submersible cleaner. With passage B open to admit water to drive a propeller 34 for displacing the apparatus and cleaner, passage A is closed to reduce suction at the cleaner. With passage B closed, passage A is open to transmit suction to the cleaner for it to be propelled by its own driving mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 1987Date of Patent: December 13, 1988Inventors: Daniel J. Patent number: 4665572Abstract: A therapy apparatus to be mounted in a pool of water for generating a laminar flow of water at a rate sufficient for exercising and therapy purposes. A housing is secured externally to a swimming pool, the water inlet and outlet being disposed within the pool of water and being supported by the external housing. The water inlet is located below the surface of the swimming pool, water being forced through the inlet and upwardly by a rotating impeller to the outlet. The water outlet is below the water surface and directs the flow of water substantially parallel to the surface of the swimming pool and at an angle of approximately 90 degrees of arc with respect to the flow at the impeller. Sets of radial, elbow and outlet diffusers are mounted within the water flow chamber to create a laminar flow of water at the output and substantially eliminate all unwanted turbulance.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 1986Date of Patent: May 19, 1987Inventors: Peter Davidson, Gretchen Buck

Patent number: 4644991Abstract: A window cornice assembly including two spaced cornice terminals, two shade retaining brackets, and a tapestry cover assembly including a replaceable spring-loaded cartridge and a tapestry cover. The tapestry cover is an elongated sheet of material having two ends. The first end is attached to the spring-loaded cartridge and can be rolled up around the cartridge. The second, or free, end includes a fastening member. One of the cornice terminals includes brackets for rotatably receiving the spring-loaded cartridge. The other cornice terminal includes a receiving member to which the fastening member can be attached. The cartridge is inserted in the brackets and the tapestry cover pulled around the terminals until the fastening member is attached to the receiving member. The cartridge is easily removable from the brackets so that different cartridges containing different designs can be substituted as desired. The shade retaining brackets are attached to each terminal.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 1985Date of Patent: February 24, 1987Inventor: John A. Boyd

Patent number: 4398545Abstract: A bandage to be applied adjacent to an injured portion of a patient's body contains electronic circuitry which delivers electric pulses into the body to block or mask the pain arising from the injury. The bandage includes an inner unit adapted to be applied directly onto the patient's skin and an outer unit adapted to be removably applied upon the inner unit. The inner unit includes spaced apart conductive portions which contact the patient's skin. The outer unit includes a power source and an electronic circuit which applies a voltage output to the conductive portions of the inner unit. The voltage output is transmitted through the conductive portions to the patient's skin to cause low current electrical pulses within the patient's body to block or mask the pain arising from the injury.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 1981Date of Patent: August 16, 1983Assignee: Cyclotechnical Medical Industries, Inc.Inventor: J. Patent number: 4385580Abstract: A marine door unit consists of a rigid frame adapted to be attached to a deck and a door hingably connected to the frame. The frame is a rigid metallic unit formed of channel members, at least one of which carries a drain tube to prevent water accumulation therein. The frame means includes an inner upstanding support rail which carries a continuous sealing gasket. When the door is closed, the inner surface thereof abuts against the support rail, compressing the sealing gasket and rendering the door unit substantially leak-proof. In the event of any water leakage past the edges of the door, such leakage collects in the channel and discharges through the drain tube. The door unit is particularly useful on boats of the type having a fishing platform with a storage compartment beneath the platform. On such boats, the door unit is mounted in an opening in the platform and serves to keep the compartment dry while remaining substantially flush with the platform surface.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1981Date of Patent: May 31, 1983Assignee: Mastercrafters CorporationInventor: Samuel L. Patent number: 4290420Abstract: An apparatus for diagnosing and treating stress urinary incontinence includes a belt surrounding the patient's trunk, a support plate on the belt, parallel tubes on the plate, and a generally U-shaped, downwardly opening pressure member having bent portions at the ends of the legs with enlarged tips. The bent portions enter the vagina and apply pressure against the anterior wall thereof to modify the urethrovesical angle, relieving the condition. The pressure member is wire coated with a physiologically inert polymer.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 1980Date of Patent: September 22, 1981Inventor: Alberto Manetta

Patent number: 4259805Abstract: A manually operable amusement device consists of a combination of a doll having an inflatable portion, a manually operable inflation means and a separable enclosure in which the doll is disposed. The enclosure has releasable engagement means which are engaged when the doll is uninflated but which are disengaged when the doll is inflated to thereby permit the doll to be removed from the enclosure means. An air release valve is provided in the doll, advantageously in the mouth portion, so that when the doll head is digitally squeezed, the air is released and the doll is deflated. The enclosure means can simulate various types of enclosures, such as a cage, a boulder, a coffin, or the like.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 1979Date of Patent: April 7, 1981Inventor: J. Russell Hornsby, Jr.

Patent number: 4221014Abstract: A storage rack is mounted on boats of the type having seats supported by pedestals in order to store the pedestal posts. The storage rack is adapted to be mounted angularly for holding a pair of pedestal posts and consists of a pair of elongated cylindrical tubes, mounted side-by-side, and having a forward mounting plate and a rear support plate. The forward mounting plate is mounted angularly with respect to the cylindrical members so that when the mounting plate is attached to a mounting surface, the cylindrical members are disposed angularly. The support plate extends perpendicularly with respect to the tubular members and is provided with an opening or hole in alignment with each tubular member to prevent water accumulation and to accomodate the reduced diameter portion of the pedestal posts.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 1979Date of Patent: September 9, 1980Assignee: Mastercrafters CorporationInventor: Samuel L.
