  • Patent number: 4863095
Abstract: The lunge whip for training horses is light in weight, balanced and long. It includes a main body having a number of telescoping tapering hollow tubular sections movable between a collapsed storage position and an extended operative position. The front section or sections are flexible and resilient to aid the whipping action of the whip. A long cord lash of synthetic braided non-tangling fiber such as polyester or polyamide fiber is attached by a swivel to the front end of the main body and bears a popper cord at its front end. The popper cord is preferably of sisal twine and has a front end bearing a popper tassel for audibly signaling a horse during training. The whip main body bears a pair of spaced hooks for use as cord lash winders when the whip is collapsed. The cord lash may be connected to a loop in a wire wrapped around the front end of the main body and covered with a heat shrunk sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4842364
Abstract: The plug is disposable around a fiber optic cable in an innerduct to form the present assembly. The plug releasably seals the cable and innerduct against ingress of mud, dirt, water, grit and other foreign substances. The plug includes upper and lower rigid compression plates positioned, respectively, immediately above and below a flexible, resilient tubular gasket having an upper circular flange. The lower compression plate has two or more spaced vertical curved arms disposed in a circle around a central vertical cable-receiving passageway and extending up from the plate through slots in the gasket and upper compression plate. The arms are threaded externally and hae an internally threaded collar screwed down thereover. The collar, upper plate and flange seat over theopen end of an innerduct bearing the cable. the lower compression plate and gasket (except for the flange) are in the innerduct. • Patent number: 4813148
Abstract: The instrument includes first and second parallel bars interconnected by a post perpendicular thereto. The first bar is adapted to be placed against the underside of a horse's hoof while the second bar is placed against the rear of the first joint of the foot adjacent the hoof. In this position the second bar is about perpendicular to the post. The second bar bears a heel brace in the form of a flat plate which projects rearwardly therefrom at an angle of about 27.degree. to the perpendicular line from the second bar. A screw and fitting releasably connect the first bar to the post and the second bar is hinged to one end of the post for rotation therearound while maintaining its parallel position with the first bar. The heel brace bears against the intersection of the hoof and first joint at the rear thereof when the instrument is in place, and cooperates with the second bar in preventing slippage of the instrument during measuring of the hoof. The first bar is set at a tilted angle of about 60.degree.

  • Patent number: 4811481
Abstract: An improved method of beading deformable electrodes is provided which method comprises forming a plurality of spaced depressions, preferably simultaneously, as through the use of a novel beading tool, in at least one surface of a deformable electrode and then adhesively binding nonconductive beads in said depressions so as to collectively form a nonconductive separator on said surface. The method is applicable for use with metallic electrodes such as sintered silver or nickel or cadmium plaque electrodes, the surfaces of which are not subject to easy plastic flow at relatively low pressure, in contrast to silver chloride plates. Preferably the depressions are hemispherical and the beads are spherical so that a substantial portion of each bead extends outwardly from the beaded electrode surface. The dimpling can be carried out effectively through the use of an improved novel tool which comprises a flat plate having a plurality of spaced apertures extending from the top to the bottom thereof at about a 90.

  • Patent number: 4803910
Abstract: The assembly is adapted for use with a preferably semi-automatic gun. It includes a mounting block which is adapted to releasably clamp over the lower rung of a trigger guard bar and which bears a trigger-actuating component rotatably secured thereto. That component includes a supplemental trigger depending below the block and a number of spaced trigger-actuating fingers in the form of spokes or notches disposed in an arc on a plate bearing the supplemental trigger. A spring is trained around a stud on the block and has its opposite ends intercepting the fingers and the trigger of the gun to which the block is mounted. The spring acts as a trigger trip lever. Thus, the fingers during their rotation sequentially strike the spring which is rotatably secured to the block, the spring thereupon sequentially striking the gun trigger to effect the firing. The assembly is simple, durable and efficient.

  • Patent number: 4748964
Abstract: The archery bow arrow rest and side pressure plate assembly includes an arrow rest formed of an elongated mounting block, a rear transverse cross bar adjustably connected thereto and a forwardly and upwardly extending resilient flexible arrow support connected to the free end of the crossbar. The side pressure plate sub-assembly includes a cross shaft adjustably threaded transversely through the block in front of the crossbar and bearing on its free end a flexible, resilient bent pressure plate having a pair of sloped surfaces joined at a laterally extending point and contactable with the side of an arrow shaft. • Patent number: 4716875
Abstract: The safety plug device is adapted to releasably plug the fluid fuel line of an internal combustion engine. The device has an external multiple stepped cylindrical configuration and/or central cavity with a like configuration so that it can be used effectively with various diameters of fuel lines and can either be inserted in the central opening of the fuel line or can be disposed over the fuel line, to prevent loss of fuel after the fuel line is removed from, for example, a carburator. The device is preferably of resilient elastomeric material resistant to deterioration by fuel and can include metal inserts, or be all metal, ceramic, etc. Thus, danger of fire from spilled fuel such as gasoline, kerosene, oil and the like can be readily avoided by the use of the plug device. Moreover, because the plug device physically reinforces the fuel line, clamping of the fuel line at the plug device does not damage the fuel line, in contrast to conventional clamping which breaks down the fuel line.

  • Patent number: 4686956
Abstract: The archery arrow rest device includes an arrow launcher in the form of an upwardly and forwardly extending blade having a forked upper end for contacting the underside of an arrow shaft, flanked by a pair of flexible, resilient, bendable, upwardly and forwardly extending wire arms for gripping the opposite sides of the arrow shaft. Those arms are connected to the launcher or to a transverse support arm, as is the launcher. The launcher may be pivotally connected to such transverse arm, and biased to a position perpendicular to the transverse arm by springs connected to it or to the arrow-gripping arms so as to eliminate the need for a plunger. The transverse arm is laterally adjustably received in a block securable to the side of an archery bow riser to adjustably support the launcher at a desired location in the bow window. The launcher may be of resiliently depressible material and/or may be rotatable into a depressed position but spring biased to the upright position along with the transverse arm.
