Patent number: 3966097Abstract: A valve assembly for providing a measured amount of fluid under pressure from a bulk supply thereof. The bulk supply has a valved outlet which may be opened by a probe. The probe is slidably disposed in a valve housing which also contains a fluid measuring chamber. A valved outlet passage leads from the measuring chamber to an outlet adapted to receive a fluid line. The outlet passage and outlet are offset from the probe so that dispensed fluid does not pass through the probe or probe passage. The outlet passage valve is normally open but is closed when the probe is moved to open the bulk supply outlet valve. A rocking lever connects the probe and outlet passage valve to open and close the latter.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1975Date of Patent: June 29, 1976Assignee: Olin CorporationInventors: Marlyn Dale Crown, Carl Eugene Finley

Patent number: 3950895Abstract: A method and apparatus for grinding work pieces having internal chambers comprising loading blank work pieces onto respective ones of a plurality of mandrels provided on a rotatable member which member is rotatable about an axis of rotation extending parallel to the mandrels, the mandrels being equi-spaced about the axis of rotation; rotating the blanks on the mandrels; rotating a profiled grinding wheel; effecting rotary indexing of the rotatable member such that each of the blanks thereon successively moves relatively rapidly from a position spaced from the grinding wheel toward the grinding wheel to a position immediately adjacent the grinding wheel, moves relatively slowly from the adjacent position into contact with the grinding wheel and stops at the contact position for grinding to be completed, then moves rapidly away from the grinding wheel; and ejecting the ground work piece from the mandrel. Means are also provided for forming a through-passage axially in the work pieces.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 1975Date of Patent: April 20, 1976Assignee: Olin Energy Systems LimitedInventor: Roland Peter Dakin

Patent number: 3949922Abstract: A powder-actuated tool includes a housing and a barrel assembly moveable therein and extending therefrom. A fastener driving member is moveable in the bore of a barrel assembly between a driving position and a driven position. A muffler member surrounds said barrel assembly external of said housing and forms a chamber between said muffler member and said barrel assembly. Suitable ports are provided in the barrel assembly to vent gases from the bore to the chamber.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1975Date of Patent: April 13, 1976Assignee: Olin CorporationInventor: Elmer R. Patent number: 3945548Abstract: A powder-actuated fastening gun including a housing in which a barrel assembly is mounted for movement between a locked position and an unlocked forward position. A percussion assembly is mounted in said housing for movement between a firing position and a fired position. A rod member, external of the barrel assembly, is moveable between a forward position and a rearward position. The rod member is releasably connected to the percussion assembly. A projection on the barrel assembly is adapted to engage the forward end of the rod member and move it from its forward to its rearward position as the barrel assembly is moved from its unlocked to its locked position. Actuating means are provided for disconnecting the percussion assembly and the rod member only when the rod member is in its rearward position. A second rod member may be provided which includes a safety catch to prevent disconnection of the percussion assembly and the rod member if the second rod member has not been moved rearwardly.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 1974Date of Patent: March 23, 1976Inventor: Roger Dorgnon
