  • Patent number: 6435032
Abstract: An improved regulating and gauging device for attachment to tank fed breathing apparatus used in such endeavors as scuba diving or fire fighting. On the body of the device are components which concurrently function to provide the diver or other user with a single source for what are conventionally, multiple components of a pressure gauge, a regulator, and a buoyancy compensating control unit. The device has mounted in or upon the device body, a mechanical or digital display of the remaining tank pressure in the attached supply tank, and thus breathable air supply. Also provided are an outlet to a buoyancy control bag, and a quick connect air supply port for another person to use in emergencies, or as needed. Additional utility is achieved by the provision of the pressure gauge which is mounted upon the exterior buoyancy compensating control unit body where the user can easily see it during use.

  • Patent number: 6422883
Abstract: A electrical plug ejecting system for use in combination with a an electrical plug attached to a cord, which cooperatively engages an electrical socket. The ejection system may be located inside the conventional male or female electrical fitting which is operatively attached at the end of a communicating cord. Ejection is accomplished by pulling on a trigger which laterally translates a rod inside the electrical fitting to separate the electrical fitting from frictional engagement with any attached electrical fitting configured for such operative attachment. The device may also function as an interface between male and female electrical fittings both at the end of a chord by having male and female configured sides on the interface for cooperative engagement with other fittings so configured. In this embodiment the rod translates toward and protrudes from one of the male or female configured sides to detach any electrical fitting thereon frictionally engaged.

  • Patent number: 6422580
Abstract: An anti-tipping device for a shopping cart having a pair of non-pivotal wheels and a pair of pivotal wheels. The anti-tipping device comprises a pair of concave downward extending anti-tipping members clamped to the outer surface of the lower frame adjacent to the pivotal wheels. The lower end of the anti-tipping members extend close to but not touching the cart support surface. When the cart is tipped sideways at least one of the anti-tipping members contacts the cart support surface preventing any further tipping of the cart.

  • Patent number: 6419095
Abstract: A filter assembly for use in a press mould for moulding of cementitious products, the filter assembly including a fabric mounted in face to face contact with a support plate, perforated with a plurality of apertures arranged in a predetermined pattern to permit passage of fluid through the plate, the apertures defining imperforate zones there between, the fabric being knitted or woven to have a surface defined by a plurality of parallel ribs in face to face contact with the support plate, each pair of adjacent ribs defining therebetween opposed sides of a fluid channel which communicates with a number of said apertures and said imperforate zones, the ribs being knitted or woven to be sufficiently non-compressible in order to resist collapse of said fluid channels during compression of the cementitious product within said mould.

  • Patent number: 6408691
Abstract: A well monitoring apparatus for burial in the ground to sample and monitor subsurface water having a cylindrical bailer unit with an internal reservoir chamber for collection of samples communicated thereto from outside the bailer. A pressurization system allows for selected pressurization of the chamber from a remote location to transmit fluid therform to a remote location for inspection. The bailer may be buried separately or attached to the lower end of a conventional well casing.

  • Patent number: 6409060
Abstract: An improved child carrier capable of carrying both infants and larger toddlers. The device features a removable infant seat insert to accommodate the seating requirements of smaller infants in the larger seat panel. The infant seat insert may either be removably attached to the device or in an alternate embodiment is deployable from a pocket formed in the body support panel. The carrier also features a strapping arrangement that allows lateral translation of the shoulder straps to aid in comfort during use and an arrangement at the waist band to keep the seat of the device generally upright when the wearer bends forward.

  • Patent number: 6403903
Abstract: A wall switch extension is provided for operation of a wall switch in which a single rigid extension is attached to either a conventional toggle or a rocker type wall switch for rotation thereto. The extension includes separate methods for engaging the lever of the toggle switch and the operating surface of the rocker. Upon rotation of the extension the switch can either be turned on or turned off. A decorative member is positioned over and pivotally attached to the extension and is fixedly attached to the switch housing. To further enhance the visual presentation of the wall switch extension, the extension is configured to form a visual continuation of the decorative member.

  • Patent number: 6397782
Abstract: A butterfly rearing kit including an enclosure in which metamorphosis of a butterfly larva or butterfly chrysalis into a butterfly can be carried out. Basically, the kit includes first and second transparent plastic domes having open bases that can be releasably fastened together to form an enclosure. The enclosure may be supported by a third dome secured to the enclosure with the open base extending downwardly or on a rod extending out through said second dome. In one embodiment, a cup is provided for a butterfly larva with a cap to which the larva attaches the hanging chrysalis. The cap can be removed from the cup and placed over an opening in the top of the enclosure, so that final metamorphosis to a butterfly occurs in the enclosure. The kit preferably includes a moss like material along the bottom of the enclosure and butterfly larva food where the process starts with a larva.

  • Patent number: 6385920
Abstract: An emergency storm shelter providing save haven for occupants during tornados and windstorms. The shelter features an elongated cylinder with sealed ends forming a center cavity for occupants during a storm. Emergency access is provided by at least one access tube formed having an interior passage therethrough communicating with the interior passage of the cylinder. The access tube is of a length to extend above the surface of the ground in which the elongated cylinder is buried, and can also be made long enough to communicate through the walls or floor of an adjacent house or mobile home to allow occupants to enter the storm shelter quickly and without leaving the safety of their home interior during high winds and tornados. In the best mode the access tube communicates between the living area of the home and the center cavity of the elongated cylinder at an angle such that the interior wall surface of the access tube forms a slide to allow users to quickly enter the shelter during an emergency.

  • Patent number: 6385888
Abstract: An improved trigger mechanism for a single action revolver. The device features a pawl which rotationally mounts upon a hammer having a firing position in which a hammer is cocked, and having an at rest position in which the hammer is biased against the revolver frame. The pawl has an engagement end which cooperatively engages and rotates an indexing ratchet of a rotating cylinder at a first end. A means for disengagement of the engagement end of the pawl from cooperative engagement with the indexing ratchet when hammer is in said at rest position is provided by a second section extending from an axis pin providing a mount for the pawl on the trigger hammer. A cam end having a length determined to provide operative contact with an interior wall surface of a shaft formed in said revolver causes a rotation of the pawl upon the axis pin thereby laterally translating said engagement end out of operative engagement with the cylinder ratchet when the hammer is rotated to said resting position.

  • Patent number: 6368690
Abstract: A process for manufacturing mats from worn out tires and mats made by that process. Sidewalls are cut from the tire leaving a circular strip, which is cut transversely to produce an elongated approximately rectangular strip. Spaced slits are cut into the long edges of the strips to form slats suitable for use in manufacturing structures. Several strips are placed together to form a first layer, than additional strips are laid over the first strips at an angle to the first layer strips to form a second layer an adhesive is placed on one of the mating surfaces to bond the layers together, forming a mat. An elastomer, may be coated over the mat The mats are particularly useful as horse stall mats, matts for cows in dairy farms, etc.
