  • Patent number: 7040021
Abstract: A hand held hair trimming device which when pulled through the hair trims only a determined portion of the ends of hair strands while leaving adjacent hairs uncut. The device will cut a predetermined length off only the distal ends of the hair shafts each time it has the hair drawn through one or a plurality of serpentine pathways formed by retainer cavities and an engageable retainer. The cutting head portion of the device may be removed and replaced and optional hair dryer or vacuum may be attached to an aperture on the rear of the cutting head to dry hair, vacate cut ends, or encourage distal ends of hairs toward the cutting blade.

  • Patent number: 7017818
Abstract: An improved card scanner for imaging and decoding indica such as bar codes on a side surface of an inserted card. The device is electrically powered and features a double scanning method using an electronic imaging element and processor which turns off unnecessary power when not required. This is accomplished through the use of a processor and software to determine if a complete image of the bar code on the inserted card has been captured and allowing immediate extracting of data from the bar code and immediate removal of the card. Should the image of the bar code be incomplete, a second scan is conducted of the bar code as it is removed and if complete, data is extracted and if incomplete a complete image formed from the two individual scans. The device also employs a magnetic strip data reader to extract magnetically encoded data.

  • Patent number: 7007658
Abstract: A device for shutdown of an internal combustion engine which provides for the cessation of fuel and air mixture in a carburetor supplying the cylinders of the engine with fuel for ignition. The device features a conduit in sealed engagement with the fuel supply bowl of the carburetor which may by switched from engagement between the atmosphere or a negative air pressure supply. When switched to communication with negative air pressure the device causes a vacuum in the fuel bowl of the carburator thereby ceasing fuel flow and shutting down the engine due to lack of fuel.

  • Patent number: 6976841
Abstract: An intra-oral dental irradiation device for use in dental procedures for whitening teeth, imaging teeth, and making impressions of tooth structures of a patient. The device features one or a plurality of LED devices mounted to an arched shaped structure which project light upon or through teeth. In the whitening mode the light of the proper spectrum to activate enamel whitening material is projected. In the imaging mode light projected by the LED devices is received by a charged coupled device which communicates the image of the light passing through the teeth from the LED devices, to a computer. In making dental impressions, the device projects light in a spectrum that provides the catalyst to material that hardens when exposed to that spectrum thereby hardening dental impression material when inserted over the teeth of a patient.

  • Patent number: 6971288
Abstract: A self-adjusting wrench having a handle and a jaw member rotationally attached thereto. A smoothly curved handle face opposes a planar face on the jaw member which adjusts for distance from the curved handle face by following a generally circular path around a pinned attachment of the jaw member to the handle. A spring or similar biasing device continuously urges the jaw member toward the handle thereby making the device self adjusting to the size of the object placed between the jaw member and the curved handle surface.

  • Patent number: 6964549
Abstract: A license plate fastener assembly useful in attaching a license plate to a motor vehicle includes a cup-like resilient adapter provided with an annular base surface conformed to receive the license plate fastener. The skirt of the adapter surrounding the fastener head is provided with a peripheral bead that is captured in an interior recess of a covering cap that opposes the plate surface once installed, thereby imparting partial tension to the adapter to develop frictional variations against the plate. The cap also includes an exterior circular depression in which variously marked plugs are receivable.

  • Patent number: 6955297
Abstract: The present invention contemplates a novel method and device that combines one of more coordinate scanners which can digitize and communicate to a computer the exact location of the placement of a pointer on any designated surface and perform a variety of preprogrammed responses. More specifically, the invention relates to the methods and apparatuses used to identify specific points of indicia on a surface in front of the scanner. This surface is identified to a computer by identifying indicia such as a bar code or other manner of specifically identifying the surface. The computer will perform preprogrammed designated audio or visual or other electronic responses to identified points on the surface by matching the identified point on the surface with an electronic version of the surface in memory and a preprogrammed task for such a match. The designated surface may be flat or it may consist of a contoured surface in a wide variety of sizes and materials.

  • Patent number: 6953175
Abstract: A quick acting gated retainer for wire, cable, or other elongated material requiring a permanent or temporary mount. The device features one or a pair of spring biased gates on one or both sides rotating and concurrently translating inwardly, during both the insertion and removal process of cable from the guide cavity formed to hold the inserted cable. This provides a clear line for both insertion and removal of cable or similar elongated objects from the guide cavity and prevention of damage to the inserted object from the gates which will naturally retract from contact with the inserted wire since the gates translate as well as rotate in their engagement. The nylon structure with the internal reinforcing guarantees a long lasting, rigid device that will not damage wires, cables or ropes held within the guide cavity.

  • Patent number: 6911970
Abstract: A keypad and key device featuring a plurality of contacts on the rear face of a keypad key that each mate with an individual contact pad from a plurality of contact pads placed below the upwardly biased and tiltable keys. Pushing a key on a right side or left side mates different pairs of contacts and contact pads generating different characters for input to a cellular phone or small computer. Pushing the key in the center will generate a third character by mating both contacts with both contact pads. The keys may also have more than two contacts mating with more than two contact pads and tilt to a variety of positions to mate the respective contacts with contact pads. Consequently, one depression of a key enables any one of a plurality of characters assigned thereto to be inputted which is effective in accelerating a data inputting process.

  • Patent number: 6895696
Abstract: With the advent of the protective shoelace storage compartment incorporated within the new designs of the sports footwear, the shoes will appear less cluttered with the bow and lace ends concealed or all the laces, the bow and lace ends concealed. Without the laces dangling those individuals engaged in active sports like skateboarding will not have to worry about the laces of their shoes getting tangled in the wheels of the skateboard. The shoelace storage compartment may be closed by means of a zipper on the preferred embodiment or the hook loop fastening means on the alternate embodiment. The novelty of this invention is the added benefit of the concealed storage compartment for articles like identification, driver's license or money for those in sportswear not having any pockets or those traveling where additional precautions are necessary.
