Abstract: The object of the present invention is to provide window coverings for nonrectangular windows and openings. The present invention utilizes a sliding headrail which allows a shade to be fitted exactly to a myriad of nonrectangular window shapes and to be opened or closed without placing undue stress upon the shade material or causing unsightly bunching of the shade material. A single headrail may also be used in appropriate circumstances. The sliding headrail keeps shade material neat and flat within the window frame, and if pleated or honeycombed, maintains the pleats in their natural horizontal arrangement. The window shade is not limited to the use of any particular shade materials, and can use virtually any window covering material depending on the appropriateness of the application. Shade material is attached to the sliding headrail segments at various points via shade leveling rods and support rods.
Abstract: A cashless peripheral method interfacing with a gaming system. The gaming system issues a “cash-out” signal when a player quits playing and receives a “cash-in” signal when a player desires to play a game in the gaming system. A stack of unprinted tickets is stored in the interior of the device. A ticket printer prints a coded value, such as a bar code, on a ticket in response to a cash-out signal from the gaming system. A ticket reader reads the amount printed on the ticket. If the printed value corresponds to the value which should have been printed, a ticket-out transport delivers the printed ticket to the player cashing out from the gaming system. When a player inserts the printed ticket into the device a ticket-in transport senses the insertion and the ticket reader reads the coded value from the inserted printed ticket. The ticket reader issues a cash-in signal to the gaming system corresponding to the value read from the coded value on the inserted printed ticket.
Abstract: An intelligent casino chip system. At least one gaming table is provided with at least one discrete player area. Two classes of intermingled gaming chips are accepted in the discrete betting area. Each gaming chip of the first class has a first transponder containing at least value information. Each gaming chip of the second class has a second transponder containing value and class information. The computer system determines the values from each class of chip and the class information from the second transponder.
Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for trenchless placement of pipe or conduit that allows termination at a vault or manhole structure without destruction of the vault or manhole. The specific improvement is the means of making the bursting ram and all components used in the procedure (but for the replacement pipe) disassemblable in a small space, such as a vault or manhole. The disclosed improvement is a means to keep the bursting ram together during use but then to allow the bursting ram after it enters into the manhole or vault, to be disassembled with hand tools and removed in parts without destruction or damage to the vault structure. This makes the trenchless placement of conduit or piping non-destructive over the distance of the route as well as at the termination at a manhole.
Abstract: A method of a house apportionment of a bonus value during bonus casino game play, entry for which occurs during play of an underlying game of chance. The method of house apportionment awards the player a portion of the bonus value for the bonus game and adds the remainder of the bonus value to at least one progressive account available to reward subsequent players, such that the bonus value paid by the house is constant and the house advantage is fixed regardless of player proficiency in the bonus casino game. The bonus casino games include knowledge-based playing. The knowledge-based bonus casino game includes a player answering, selecting, or guessing the proper responses to questions. The answering, selecting, or guessing has the step of challenging the player with questions having a common theme or varying difficulty. The knowledge-based playing has the step of asking the player questions the bonus value of which is measured against survey responses.
Abstract: The frozen dessert products of the present invention preferably comprise a base mixture of, on a percent solids (dry) basis, about 1% to about 12% high fructose corn syrup, about 5% to about 20% corn syrup having a DE of about 36, about 2% to about 22% sucrose, about 2% to about 6% maltodextrin, about 0.2% to about 5% egg white, about 1% to about 9% FRUITRIM® blend (comprising fruit juices and natural grain dextrins), about 0.2% to about 1.5% stabilizer, about 0% to about 0.12% emulsifier, about 0% to about 1.5% modified food starch, about 0% to about 5% milk fat, about 0% to about 10% milk solids non-fat (MSNF) with the balance being water, and on a volume basis, from about 20% to about 90% fruit puree. Flavor ingredients may be added. The method of production for the frozen dessert products comprises the steps of blending the above ingredients to form a base mixture, pasteurizing and homogenizing the base mixture, adding fruit puree to form a final mixture, extruding to a final density of about 4.

Abstract: A method steam flaking grain comprises the steps of providing grain, passing the grain through a steam chest at a predetermined temperature and pressure for a predetermined time, flaking the grain between two rotating corrugated rollers having a gap, sampling the flakes at predetermined intervals as the flakes come out from between the rollers, weighing the sampled flakes to determine the density of the sampled flakes, and adjusting the temperature, the pressure, the retention time, and the size of the gap between the rollers on the basis of the measured density of the sampled flakes, so that the resulting flakes have a predetermined density and a predetermined amount of gelatinization and so that the variability in the amount of gelatinization is minimized. In another highly preferred embodiment, the sampled flakes are cooled for a predetermined time and then screened before measuring the density.
Abstract: A method for playing a bonus game requiring knowledge has steps of presenting a query; limiting the time for response; awarding more if the player is correct, less if wrong, and keeping a house advantage in a range. A method has the steps of receiving a wager; playing a base game; playing a time-limited bonus game, and keeping a house advantage in a range. A method has the steps of presenting a query; limiting the time for response; awarding more if correct, less if wrong; randomly choosing a response if the time limit be exceeded, and keeping a house advantage in a range. A method has the steps of presenting a query; limiting the time for response; awarding more if correct, less if wrong or if the time limit is exceeded, and keeping a house advantage in a range. A method has the steps of presenting a query; limiting the time for response; awarding the player who responds correctly inversely to the time elapsed, and keeping a house advantage in a range.
Abstract: A method of scheduling a vehicle in real-time to transport freight and passengers. A host receives transportation requests (e.g., to deliver freight, transport passengers, reschedule, cancel, etc.) over a network from a freight terminal and/or a passenger terminal. A route is created at the host with destinations based on the received transportation requests. The host predicts an arrival time and a departure time for each destination along the route and generates a route schedule. As the vehicle travels to each destination, the host receives actual arrival and departure times and uses these actual times to update the route schedule. The route schedule is also updated when new destinations are added or a scheduled destination is cancelled. In another embodiment, the predicted arrival and departure times are updated based on vehicle positioning data received from a global positioning system.
Abstract: An endotracheal tube can be inserted into a patient's trachea during resuscitation by using a face mask and a curved guide. The guide is inserted through a flexible port in the face mask and has a curved distal portion that extends into the patient's mouth and hypopharynx. The patient is initially resuscitated by supplying a flow of air/oxygen through the mask. For example, a resuscitation bag can be connected to a rotatable ventilation port on the face mask. An endotracheal tube is inserted over the distal end of a fiber optic probe. Resuscitation, oxygenation, or artificial ventilation continue without interruption while the fiber optic probe and endotracheal tube are inserted through a flexible port at the proximal end of the curve guide and then advanced along the guide into the patient's airway. The direction of the distal tip of the fiber optic probe can be controlled by the physician.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for separating recyclable corrugated paper from a stream of commingled waste. Commingled waste is loaded onto a conveyor with two alternating sets of jogger beams. A motor drives the jogger beams out of phase with respect to one another causing the waste to fall between the jogger beams, while corrugated paper remains above and moves along the jogger beams, thereby separating the two components. Optionally, a second stage of jogger beams can be positioned forward of the conveyor to create a drop therebetween to further separate the commingled waste. The jogger beams are cantilevered beyond the motor so that waste falls clear of the motor.
Abstract: A virtual matrix comprised of a plurality of grid elements is provided, on which a hidden pattern, comprised of a plurality of matrix entries, is randomly placed. A player views a gaming matrix having a plurality of visible positions, each visible position corresponding to one of the grid elements. The player chooses at least one of the plurality of visible positions on the gaming matrix, after which the game displays the corresponding grid element of the virtual matrix on the gaming matrix. Based on the correct number of guesses matching the pattern location, the player is awarded and a media presentation signals the player's success. If the player guesses incorrectly, a second media presentation signals the incorrect guess.
Abstract: A method is set forth for playing a bonus game in a secondary slot machine adjacent a primary slot machine. The primary slot machine issues a bonus qualifying signal to the secondary slot machine to start play of a bonus game when a bonus qualifying event occurs. The reels of the bonus game include value symbols, null symbols, and end game symbols which may be of two basic types: a lose game symbol and a stop game symbol. After the random spin, the values of any value symbols displayed on the payline of the secondary slot machine are accumulated into an accumulated winning value. The value symbols could include positive integer values, negative integer values, and multiples. The random spinning, determination of values of any-value symbol and the accumulation of a winning value is repeatedly continued until an end of the bonus game occurs.
Abstract: Steels having a pearlitic structure and containing 0.60 to 1.0 weight percent carbon, 1.1 to 3.0 weight percent silicon, 0.45 to 0.85 weight percent manganese, less than 0.050 weight percent sulfur and less than 0.050 weight percent phosphorus, with the remainder of said steel being iron and incidental impurities, can be used to make railway, wheels that are resistant to martensite transformations and, hence, spalling. The addition of 0.50 to 1.0 weight percent chromium to such steels further improves their resistance to spalling.

Abstract: A method measures the angle of attack for the leading and trailing sets of wheels in trucks of rail vehicles traveling over track in a wayside system. At a first point on the outside rail of a track vertical force is measured with a first vertical strain gage, lateral force is measured with a first lateral strain gage and an outside angle of attack timing signal is measured with a first angle of attack strain gage. This process is repeated on the inside track so that a raw angle of attack for each set of wheels can be determined based upon speed and time difference. Ratios between the lateral force and the vertical force for the wheels of each are used to select raw angle of attack values for properly steering trucks that are averaged together to obtain an average angular offset value related to any misalignment of the strain gages.
