Abstract: An improved optical collection and transmission surface includes a plastic mold injection surface including staggered multiple transmission sites each with a recessed portion in which incident light is not lost during reflection towards the propagation surface. A device implementing the surfaces is plastic-mold injected of high quality acrylic at in a preferred embodiment and can be economically optionally polished or finished to achieve desired quality surfaces.

Abstract: At the beginning of an online backup operation, the backup software system creates a snapshot of source data storage. The snapshot includes a watch-list used for identifying blocks of a source storage which are watched by snapshot management means for update. If a block included into the watch-list was requested for update, the snapshot management means preserve original contents of that block in a retention container for the purpose of temporary store. The retention container includes a set of temporal stores dedicated for transient storing of blocks until they are backed up. Backed up blocks can be operatively excluded from the snapshot so that unchanged blocks are excluded from the watch-list and updated blocks are removed from the retention container.

Abstract: The Trike's unique power source is provided by a rowing-type motion of the user rather than the less efficient “hand rim” grip or wrist propulsion. The rowing motion significantly reduces the chances for repetitive stress injuries, like carpal tunnel. Furthermore, the rowing motion and movements, are designed to facilitate efficient propulsion and steering in combination, to be effected simultaneously. The rowing motion allows the user's full arm strength and full range of motion to assist in the powering of the vehicle. The wheelchair also has a retractable fifth or propulsion wheel that allows the chair to be used in a confined space without sacrificing performance.
Abstract: The invention relates to a loudspeaker comprising at least one magnet (5), a membrane (2) with an outer edge (32) defining an outer edge plane (30) of the membrane, a bead (3) surrounding the membrane (2), a moving coil (9) which is fixed to the first membrane (2), and a magnet system (4) comprising at least one magnet (9). The loudspeaker also has a supporting structure (1) for receiving the magnet system (4) and the membrane, the membrane being connected to the supporting structure by means of the bead, and the supporting structure has a front side which is oriented towards the membrane and a rear side which is oriented in the opposite direction. The membrane (2) is at least partially convex towards the front, in the predominant acoustic direction (33), and the region (28) of the membrane (2), to which the moving coil is fixed, is arranged in front of the outer edge plane (30) of the membrane.
Abstract: A plurality of satellites are placed into a virtually geosynchronous orbit, in which a first part of the orbit, that is near apogee, has a similar movement to the rotation of the earth, and therefore the orbit appears virtually stationary relative to the earth. Different satellites in the orbit are caused to have specified standardized parameters, and also defined according to an orbital position at a date certain. The different satellites and therefore be assigned to different owners according to these parameters.
Abstract: A heating system has been incorporated into the commercial space fixture of a plastic chair mat to provide a space-saving heating system. The material for the plastic mat is chosen based on its thermal and electrical properties to provide necessary safety and support convenience for occupied rolling office chairs. Materials include vinyl, acrylic, and polyethylene. The heating elements are placed into the body of the plastic material, which is connected to conventional electrical elements, such as power source, GFIs, thermostats, and safety shut offs, outside the plastic mat. Other more complicated electronics, such as an anti-static mechanism, may be included as needed by the environment.
Abstract: The present invention provides a configuration of a hard drive enclosure system and method for manufacture in which a polymer including electromagnetic interference shielding (EMI shielding) properties is configured such that shielding gaskets may be reduced or eliminated completely. Patterned honeycomb “tubes” are molded into the front wall of the front panel providing access to the interior of the front plate, and allowing ventilation. Other EMI shielding cuts may be molded or stamped into the sides of the disk-drive enclosure and raised tab structures allow the enclosure to be placed in an array. The container is generally stamped, molded or extruded from Premier® or another EMI-shielding polymer material that provides sufficient EMI shielding.
