  • Patent number: 6109331
Abstract: The present invention is a screen frame and screen positionable in most window frames and door frames. The invented screen frame is comprised of four screen frame segments joined together at corners to form a generally rectangular or multi-sided screen frame. Corner joint inserts are inserted in each corner of the four screen frame segments and the inserts are spot welded to adjoining screen frame segments to provide a sturdy and rigid screen frame. The screen frame segments are preferably stainless steel extrusions having two parallel flanges extending from a generally square shaped hollow body. An alternative construction of the screen frame is a continuous extruded segment that is notched at certain locations for bending and forming into a continuous screen frame having one junction requiring spot welding. A metal, preferably stainless steel screen is secured in the screen frame by spot welding the screen between the screen frame flanges of the screen frame segment.

  • Patent number: 6107118
Abstract: In a contact-bumpless chip contacting method for contacting a chip having a plurality of conductive contact areas, which are not provided with an additional metallization layer, a carrier substrate is provided, which has a first surface having arranged thereon a plurality of conductive connecting sections. A non-conductive adhesive layer is arranged on the first surface of the carrier substrate and subsequently, the carrier substrate is aligned with the chip to be contacted such that a plurality of conductive contact areas on the chip to be contacted is in alignment with the connecting sections on the first surface of the carrier substrate. Then the carrier substrate is connected to the chip to be contacted by means of the adhesive layer in such a way that the connecting sections of the carrier substrate and the contact areas of the chip abut on one another by means of pressure contact, without any intermetallic connection being established.

  • Patent number: 6108120
Abstract: A Faraday rotation angle varying apparatus for controlling a Faraday rotation angle of a light beam passing through a garnet single crystal having a Faraday effect by applying external magnetic fields to the garnet single crystal in two or more of directions and varying a synthetic magnetic field synthesized from the external magnetic fields is disclosed. According to an aspect of the present invention, the garnet single crystal has the (111) plane polished and the light beam is allowed to pass through the garnet single crystal along the <111> direction of the garnet single crystal perpendicular to the (111) plane. A displacement path of a synthetic vector of the external magnetic fields is within a fan-shaped range (peripheral lines of the fan-shape inclusive) of a stereographic projection chart of the garnet single crystal with the (111) plane taken as the center of the chart.

  • Patent number: 6106239
Abstract: A liquid ring vacuum pump or compressor includes an off-centered housing and a rotor shaft assembly within the housing. The liquid ring vacuum pump or compressor also includes a port-containing one member having a frustoconical shape positioned in the rotor. The rotor rotates liquid around the cone member forming an off-centered cylindrical liquid ring that is shaped by and centered in the off-centered housing. The invented cone member has an inlet port having a parabolic shaped opening edge and a discharge port having a parabolic shaped closing edge. The invented cone member fully supports the liquid ring, at the intersection of the inner surface of the cylindrical liquid ring and the outer surface of the wall of the frustoconical cone member and inhibits the flow of water into the ports, maximizes the amount of gas being displaced through the cone member, increases the capacity of the liquid ring vacuum pump, and reduces the cost of operating the pump.

  • Patent number: 6095392
Abstract: A pneumatic nailer having a safety mechanism that reduces accidental discharge of nailer is provided. The nailer includes a hollow main body housing having a main pressure chamber in pneumatic communication with a main valve housing. Pressurized gas is injected into main pressure chamber, and a metering hole between the main chamber and valve assembly allows gas pressure to equalize between the main chamber and the valve housing. A safety trigger and safety valve are in pneumatic communication with the pressurized valve housing. A ram cap positioned over the top portion of the valve assembly is struck, moving the main valve assembly downward, with unseating of a cylinder firing valve only if internal pressures have been adjusted by actuation of the safety valve by an operator.

  • Patent number: 6095784
Abstract: The present invention includes an apparatus and method for in situ repair of damaged bearing surfaces of shafts or journals. The apparatus consists of a bracket assembly supporting a forming material axially aligned with and sized to the damaged shaft or journal. The former stock is self-sizing to the diameter of the damaged shaft or journal encountered. After cure of the repair material used with the invention, a new surface is created, which is then ready to accept a replacement bearing. The apparatus is reusable for subsequent repair needs.

  • Patent number: 6076710
Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for distribution of viscous materials such as concrete slurry or grout mixtures onto target surfaces, the apparatus connectable to a transfer pipe leading from an external pumping mechanism. The method and apparatus includes a generally rectangular chamber having walls providing an upper wall attached to a conduit, the conduit connectable to a transfer pipe by a pivotable annulus or ring. The pivotable annulus provides rotation of the chamber in approximately 360.degree. range of motion in relation to the transfer pipe. As the concrete slurry or grout mixtures are pumped through the chamber by an external pumping mechanism, the walls direct the viscous materials out through an outlet, formed in a lower portion of the front wall, the outlet having an opening shaped for directing the viscous materials toward target surfaces.

  • Patent number: 6068019
Abstract: A branch apparatus for a pipe and a branch method using the same connect a branch pipe installed to a place requiring a fluid such as a gas, a chemical substance and water to a main pipe through which the fluid flows. The branch apparatus for a pipe and the branch method using the same make a laying depth of the main pipe be identical with that of the branch pipe by horizontally installing a branch apparatus, and thus make the branch pipe receive both a low vibration and a small load from the ground. The branch apparatus includes a T-type pipe having a horizontal pipe whose both ends are opened and a vertical pipe connected to an upper part of a center of the horizontal pipe; a reinforcement plate welded to the main pipe for being welded to one end of the horizontal pipe of the T-type pipe; a flange which is welded to an upper part of the vertical pipe of the T-type pipe, and has female screw lines in a center thereof; and a plug coupled with the center of the flange.
