  • Patent number: 5888260
Abstract: A high performance air intake for an automotive engine has an oiled gauze filter of inverted conical form, including an inverted, shaped inner apex, the filter fitting within an in-line filter body that forms a part of a slender intake line. The in-line form of the filter enables the pick-up of intake air from a cool zone below the engine, with little subsequent heating of the air, resulting in enhanced breathing of the engine, with observable performance enhancement.

  • Patent number: 5842839
Abstract: A liquid transfer system for liquids that are subject to solidification uses a pipeline, with compressed gas as the liquid displacement medium. The pipeline comprises a substantially rigid outer line and a flexible inner hose, forming with the outer line an intermediate interstitial zone along the inner hose; a check valve located adjacent each end of the inner hose provides uni-directional flow within the system. A gas compressor connected with the interstitial zone by way of a flow control selectively applies pressurized gas or vacuum to the zone. The three possible phases of operation comprise; a first phase, when vacuum is applied to the interstitial zone, to expand the inner hose and induce liquid from the source to substantially fill the inner hose; a second phase when gas pressure is applied to the interstitial zone, to compress the inner hose and expel the liquid toward the point of delivery. The first and second phases are repeatable, to provide cumulative delivery of the liquid.

  • Patent number: 5027446
Abstract: In a mechanism for raising and lowering disabled persons on a toilet seat the toilet seat is mounted on a carriage which is operated by water-powered cylinders connected to the closet water supply, having the pressure controlled by an adjustable pressure limiting valve and a hand controlled admission valve. The seat is moved vertically throughout its travel to facilitate the user in moving onto and off the seat at their own volition. The cylinders of the mechanism are substantially self-aligning, upon a flexible and laterally adjustable base, having a height adjustment capability, for use with toilets of different heights. The flexible, laterally adjustable base provides adaptation to different width toilets. The toilet seat support platform is pivotally mounted on a supporting carriage as a safety measure, to preclude crushing of anything trapped therebeneath, between the seat platform and the top rim of the toilet bowl, under downward force applied by the double-acting water powered cylinders.

  • Patent number: 4546022
Abstract: An elongated decorative molding suitable for use with automotive vehicles has a core portion of reduced density and an outer portion of solid material such as a laminate secured thereto, to provide a finished colored surface of enhanced appearance and durability. The uses of a softer core material such as foamed soft polyvinyl chloride reduces the mass of plastic required by a significant amount, and modifies the flexibility and impact characteristics favorably, while the use of a skin layer such as a thin lamina secured thereto permits the core material to be non-pigmented, for significant savings.
