  • Patent number: 4778228
Abstract: A container for video magnetic-tape cassettes, compact phonographic disks or similar recording media, with a housing and a slide which is displaceable into an opening position by a prestressing spring after a lock has been released. The slide carries a front plate which closes the housing and which moves aside during opening, so that the cassette or the like can be grasped conveniently. A common housing preferably contains several slides. A blocking lock can be provided. Outwardly identical housings can contain slides adapted either to cassettes or to compact phonographic disks or to other recording media.

  • Patent number: 4771903
Abstract: A process for hermetically sealing a glass container with contents therein is disclosed. The container has a mouth surrounded by a rim, at least a portion of the exterior surface, including the rim, of the container having a film coating of thermoplastic polymer thereon. The first step in sealing comprises substantially reducing the amount of contents' residue from the container rim. A closure is then applied to the rim. This closure is comprised of a layered material, having a thermoplastic polymer layer and a metallic layer, the thermoplastic layer contacting the thermoplastic polymer coating on the container rim. The thermoplastic polymer layer and the thermoplastic polymer coating consist essentially of mutually compatible polymeric materials. The closure is then heated in contact with the rim, to heat seal the closure to the rim coating and to seal the contents hermetically within the glass container.

  • Patent number: 4403468
Abstract: A swath turning machine having a frame with a first edge and a second edge and wheels rotatably attached to the frame so that the frame can be pulled by a tractor in a direction of travel. A pick-up device is disposed along the first edge which engages swaths of hay lying on the ground and deposits them on the frame. An endless belt connected to the frame moves the swaths from the first edge of the frame to the second edge. The second edge is spaced above the ground and defines an obtuse angle with the direction of frame travel. A turning device moves the swaths in a direction generally perpendicular to the direction of frame travel from the second edge to the ground, turning the swaths over, so that the underside can be quickly dried, as the frame is pulled by the tractor.

  • Patent number: 4265741
Abstract: An apparatus for separating lightweight particles from heavyweight and middling particles of the slurry generally consisting of means defining an upper cylindrical chamber, means defining a frusto-conical chamber communicating an upper end thereof with a lower end of the upper cylindrical chamber, means for tangentially injecting the slurry into the upper end of the upper cylindrical chamber to create a swirling vortex of the slurry, descending through the upper cylindrical chamber and the frusto-conical chamber, providing an axially disposed, low pressure zone, means for discharging an overflow of the slurry containing lightweight particles, the overflow discharging means including an intake orifice disposed in communication with the low pressure zone in the frusto-conical chamber and means for discharging an underflow of the slurry containing heavyweight and middling particles, the underflow discharging means having an intake orifice communicating with the frusto-conical chamber.

  • Patent number: RE32753
Abstract: A storage device for flat recording media, e.g. compact discs, is disclosed. The device comprises a housing and a slider member having a base portion and front wall that covers the open front face of the housing when the slider member is inserted. A lifting element, which is transported out of the housing by means of the slider member, is provided for supporting the recording media in a position for easy insertion and removal.
