Abstract: A shoe for protecting pulleys in a drawing system associated with a heddle frame of a weaving machine. The shoe has an inner portion of concave profile from which a projection extends so as to be receivable within a groove of the pulley. The shoe also includes two outer segments in one of which a groove is provided having a bottom which is oriented tangentially to the groove of the pulley so that the cable guided therein will be directed generally tangentially with respect to the groove of the pulley.

Abstract: A housing assembly for covering an electrical cord extending from a source of electrical supply to a fixture or appliance in which the assembly includes at least one mounting bracket and a cover and wherein portions of the bracket bite into the opposite sidewalls of the cover to thereby retain the cover in fixed position over the electrical cord.

Abstract: An extensible-handle buoyant net and retrieval device having a handle member made of telescoping tubes sealed at their joints by a packing gland, the handle member being sealed at one end by an inserted hook member and carrying a fork member at its other end, the fork member having a block pivotally connected thereto supporting a net frame, and the fork member and block forming a pivotal joint carrying a lock for fixing the angle of the net frame to a selected one of multiple predetermined angular positions, the frame and handle members being made of hollow plastic tubing.

Abstract: In an internal combustion engine, an electric motor comprising a system of locking employing balls disposed between at least on ramp and a cage, wherein the displacement of the cage which retains the balls is directly controlled by the member actuating the translation of the actuator. Means are provided so that, when the actuator is in rest position, the locking system comprising balls provides connection of this actuator and the shaft.

Abstract: A portable shield apparatus having a configuration which deflects small arms fire and constructed of a material which resists penetration thereof. The apparatus includes side and top walls and an auxiliary top member which normally is connected to a portion of the top wall but may be removed and attached to the interior surface of the side walls to serve as carrier for injured or wounded people. Also, a rear wall may be provided if desired.

Abstract: A loudspeaker enclosure comprising a cabinet to be located adjacent to a wall and having a horn contained therein driven by two loudspeakers oriented at right angles to the axis of the throat portion of the horn in which they are located and on opposite sides thereof, the speakers being substantially aligned in close mutual proximity and driven out-of-phase to provide adequate drive to the horn while tending to damp each other's excursions, and the horn having an internal expansion air column which extends into an external expansion air column bounded by the cabinet and by the wall and floor of the room, the external air column having a catenoidal rate of expansion which terminates in very rapid flaring closely matching the high expansion rate of the air column into the room which results from placing the horn at a mid-wall location, as distinguished from a corner-wall location.

Abstract: An optical sighting system for aiming the main operative axis of an apparatus in the direction of a distant target wherein the sighting system includes an optical sighting device fixed to the apparatus and laterally offset from the main axis of the apparatus and a reticle projector fixed to the apparatus and projecting a reticle image into the sighting device along a path parallel to said main operative axis, various embodiments being disclosed including additional features whereby the sighting device is supported on an arm which is separate from another arm coupled to mount a device for directing the projected reticle image into the optical sighting device, the directing device comprising a mirror or a polygonal prism.

Abstract: A system and method for compensating for drop outs present at the tape output of a video tape recorder. Compensation is effected by storing video information for at least one field in a field or frame store and detecting the presence of drop outs. When a drop out is detected the writing in of information to the store is inhibited so that the previously stored data is retained. The compensator may include additional storage for storing data indicative of drop out and frame identification so as to control processing at the store output to maintain correct color sub-carrier phase.

Abstract: An intrusion detecting sensor assembly comprising a bracket having one leg to be clamped to the surface of a structural member, for instance of a building, and having a second leg spaced from the first leg and also abutting said surface, the second leg being joined to the first leg by a bridge portion of the bracket supporting a piezoceramic transducer which is sensitive to bending of the bridge portion when the structural member is flexed by changes in its loading.

Abstract: A portable stove of the type fuelled from a replaceable pressurized combustible gas cartridge which is secured inside a cover member supporting a burner head and having means for connecting the burner head to the replaceable cartridge. A pair of covers, which telescopically fit one into the other have the dual function of serving separately as saucepans or in co-operation as an expandible housing for storing the stove, the covers being selectively telescopable to relatively greater or lesser extents, respectively to store the stove assembled or alternatively disassembled. The stove has arms which are shaped so as to provide, when the arms are extended, upstanding portions which are inscribed in a circle whose diameter is greater than the external diameters of the covers.

Abstract: A continuously twisting or doubling machine of the type comprising a bobbin holder or creel linked to the frame of the machine so as to take two positions: an operating position and a loading position respectively, the creel or bobbin holder comprising a latch for locking it automatically in either one of the two positions and the latch being such as to permit automatic unlocking of the creel or bobbin holder merely by moving it without any direct manipulation of the members of the latch.

Abstract: The security closure device according to the invention comprises a capsule screwed on said neck, a cap surrounding said capsule and a tearable guarantee strip fast with the capsule, first means being provided between the cap and the capsule for permitting the capsule to be screwed on by actuating the cap, second means being provided for moving elastically the cap in the axial direction after the guarantee strip was torn off in order to permit cooperation of third means for rotatably locking said cap and capsule to allow the capsule to be unscrewed without opposing action from said first means, the capsule being provided with a central raised portion connected to the capsule by an annular U-shaped portion extending into the neck of the container.

Abstract: A T.V. picture processing system comprising an input arrangement for receiving T.V. picture information and converting it into a form suitable for an input processor. The input processor modifies the size of the picture from information received from the input arrangement. A store is provided for storing the input processed picture information. A co-efficient generator is connected to the store for providing modification of incoming data to the store in dependence on the co-efficient generated and on data previously stored in the store. An output processor is provided for modifying the size of the picture from information received from the store and an output arrangement receives the information from the output processor and converts this into a composite T.V. signal.

Abstract: An apparatus for implanting magnetized or magnetizable needles, which apparatus comprises a tubular body, means to support a flat needle of small dimensions, made of a magnetizable metal, and means to drive the said needle into the tissues. A permanent magnet, taking the form of a substantially circular flat tablet is inserted in closed end of the body with one of its sides exposed outwardly of same. When the needle has been implanted, it may be magnetized or remagnetized as often as required by merely applying the exposed side of the tablet against the tail of the needle. In a modification the body of the apparatus is provided with a socket-like protecting cap and the tablet is inserted in the closed end of this cap, the needle supporting means being so arranged that the tip of the needle is situated close to the said closed end of the cap in order to be already magnetized by the tablet before the needle is implanted.

Abstract: In order to hold the shaft of a starter motor against undue movement or whipping as a result of vibration communicated to it by the engine with which it is associated, the drive pinion assembly on the shaft is held steady by forming on it a conical surface which, when the starter is not operating, fits into a conical surface formed on a member which is fixed in position intermediate the ends of the drive shaft.The member may be a plate-like member with an opening lying at the bottom of a conical depression. It may be gripped between the yoke of the field magnet and the nose casing of the starter and may have locating means for positioning the yoke. Where a solenoid is used the member may carry a block forming a seal between the yoke and the solenoid casing, or it may be constructed to be gripped between the solenoid casing and the nose portion.

Abstract: Treatment of fluid polluted with solid particles, for instance, from a dust removal or washing process, by pretreating the fluid to agglomerate the particles, then whirling the fluid to centrifugally concentrate the particles in a first fraction of the fluid and thereby substantially purifying a second fraction thereof, filtering the first fraction to recover the solid particles, collecting the particles and recirculating the purified fluid in the particle removal or washing process, the above treatment being carried out by apparatus having particular utility where the fluid is a liquid.
