  • Patent number: 7979724
Abstract: An integrated circuit (IC) chip containing a plurality of voltage islands containing corresponding functional blocks that can be selectively fenced, i.e., powered down, while saving the states of the corresponding inputs, and unfenced in order to manage power consumption of the chip. Each fencable functional block includes a power switch and state-saving circuitry for saving the state of the inputs to that functional block. A power modulation unit (PMU) generates fencing signals that control the power switches and state-saving circuitries so as to selectively fence the corresponding functional blocks. The PMU generates the fencing signals as a function of one or more operating arguments.

  • Patent number: 7900277
Abstract: A garment, such as a woman's slip, that includes a skirt portion weighted so as to induce tension into the garment when worn by a wearer standing erect. The skirt portion is weighted by securing one or more concentrated tensioning weights to the skirt portion proximate its bottom. The tension induced into the garment by the concentrated tensioning weight(s) inhibits the garment from riding-up on the wearer. The amount of weight provided by the concentrated tensioning weights and the location of the tensioning weights on the skirt can be carefully selected to minimize swinging, for example, while walking and climbing stairs.

Abstract: A circuitry access system for controlling access to addressable circuit elements of an integrated circuit. The circuitry access system includes a first storage element having a first listing of unique identifiers each identifier representing one of the addressable circuit elements. A selector distinguishes a first subset of unique identifiers from the first listing. A second storage element receives and stores the first subset in an arrangement that does not include an indication of the absence of any unique identifier of the first listing that is not included in the first subset. An output of second storage element allows a user of the integrated circuit to access one or more of the addressable circuit elements corresponding to the first subset of unique identifiers. • Patent number: 7894057
Abstract: Broadband light, for example, from a Fabry-Perot quantum cascade laser, is shone onto a sample, and spectral data concerning the broadband light reflected from the sample is collected. The spectral data is analyzed to determine information about one or more substances in the sample. For example, if the sample contains micro-organisms, such as bacteria or fungus, the biological classification(s) (e.g., species) of the micro-organisms can be determined from the spectral data. As another example, if the sample contains virus, the biological classification(s) (e.g., species) of the virus(es) can be determined from the spectral data. As yet another example, if the sample contains particles, size, location and velocity can be determined from the spectral data.
