Abstract: A computer system runs an applications program generated by an object-oriented software development program. A state transition is made to a state of the applications program from an outside state. All state transitions to the state from outside states are connected to an input of a transition merge point of the state. A merge transition of the merge point is selected in response to the state transition and the merge transition transitions back to the state, wherein the merge transition contains merge transition code which executes during the merge transition.

Abstract: A device to place an incision into matter with a harmonious plasma cloud. A radiofrequency generator system produces pulsed or continuous electromagnetic waveform which is transmitted by an active transmitter incising electrode tip. This generated electromagnetic wave is utilized to initiate a plasma cloud with processes such as thermal ionization and a photoelectric effect which then trigger an Avalanche Effect for charged atomic particles at the surface of the active transmitter incising electrode tip. This electromagnetic wave is impedance matched, frequency matched, power matched and tuned to the plasma cloud in order to sustain and control a harmonious plasma cloud with reduced atomic particle turbulence and chaos. This harmonious plasma cloud forms a coating over the surface of the active transmitter electrode tip as well as acts to reduce the energy output needed from the power amplifier of our plasma cutting device.
Abstract: An optical fiber organizer includes a plurality of optical fiber trays. Each tray has a top side for holding a fiber. Each tray has a hinge portion. The tray carrier has a plurality of sockets. Each socket is capable of receiving the hinge portion of a respective tray. Each tray has a first position on the tray carrier. The trays are stacked parallel to each other when the trays are in the first position. Each socket has an associated first detent, including a first boss below the socket, for maintaining its respective tray in the first position. Each socket has a second-position detent, including a second boss above the socket, for maintaining its respective tray in a second position about 90 degrees from the first position. The top side of one of the trays is exposed when at least one of the trays is in the second position. The hinge portion of the tray has a hole capable of receiving either the first boss or the second boss.
Abstract: A power level determination device provides an output voltage usable as a specific reference power level corresponding to each RF input power level. The device includes a peak detector, which detects a pulse-type signal at its input and provides a non-pulse-type signal at its output. N comparators are provided, where N is an integer. Each of the N comparators has an output, a first input coupled to the output of the peak detector, and a second input coupled to a respectively different threshold voltage. The first one of the N comparators has a maximum threshold voltage. The threshold voltages decrease monotonically from No. 1 to No. N. N exclusive-OR components are provided. A first one of the N exclusive-OR components is coupled to ground and to the output of a first one of the N comparators.

Abstract: A telephone system including a base station and a mobile unit in communication with each other is provided with an acoustic echo canceler. A sound signal is input. A reference signal that matches the sound signal is formed. A plurality of encoders and decoders receive the reference signal and form a modified reference signal. The plurality of encoders and decoders match a set of encoders and decoders that operate on the sound signal in the base station and the mobile unit. An adaptive filter receives the modified reference signal and forms a replica signal. A subtractor subtracts the replica signal from an echo signal received by the base station.
Abstract: A cabinet includes a base having a receptacle. A door is pivotally connected to the base. A fastener is mounted to the door. The fastener has a head and a tip. The fastener has an extended position, in which the tip of the fastener projects from the door towards the receptacle. The tip of the fastener is attachable to the receptacle. A spring biases the fastener towards a retracted position, in which the tip of the fastener does not project from the door. A guide may be mounted to the door, for slidably receiving and aligning the fastener. A pair of cup washers may be included between the head of the fastener and the door. A downwardly facing cup washer contains the spring, and an upwardly facing cup washer provides security by preventing the fastener from being manipulated by a standard socket or wrench.
Abstract: A computer system comprises an active processor and one or more spare processors. A dummy thread is created on the active processor while the active processor is running a current thread, causing the current thread to become dormant. The operating system of the active processor saves a set of internal state information for the current thread into a first memory coupled to the active processor. Each write to the first memory is duplicated in an equivalent spare memory coupled to each of the one or more spare processors. The dummy thread then activates the spare processor and de-activates the active processor.

Abstract: An integrated circuit has a circuit that is capable of being trimmed. A plurality of fuse links are connectable to the circuit for trimming the circuit. Each fuse link has a fuse and provides an output signal. A register has a first bit that is set to enable a test function, and a plurality of additional test data bits that provide the test output signal. A plurality of switches, which may be multiplexers, select either the output signals of the fuse links or the test output signal, and output the select signals. Each multiplexer has a first data input connected to a respective one of the plurality of fuse links. Each multiplexer has a second data input connected to a respective test data bit of the register. Each multiplexer has a select input connected to the first bit of the register.
Abstract: A maintenance station monitors and maintains a plurality of automatic door systems at remote locations. Each door system includes a control unit for controlling the operation of an automatic door, and a self-diagnosing arrangement which operates in conjunction with the control operation of the control unit, to inspect the automatic door system for malfunctioning or broken part of the door system. When a failure is found in the automatic door system, the self-diagnosing arrangement of that door system sends information identifying that door system and information identifying the malfunctioning or broken part to the maintenance station via modems and telephones.
Abstract: A remote control system uses a state signal that indicates whether a door or lock is opening, open, closing or closed. The state signal that indicates whether a door or lock is opening, open, closing or closed is transmitted. The remote control device receives the state signal, while the remote control device is proximate to the door or lock. The received state signal is stored in the remote control device. An alarm signal is generated, if the state signal is not received by the remote control device, and the stored state signal indicates that the door or lock is opening or open. The system may be used to monitor and control an automatic garage door opener, a power door locking system in an automobile, a trunk locking system in an automobile, or door or window locking systems in a building.
Abstract: A planar waveguide monitor is shown for determining the wavelength and power of component optical signals of a multiplexed optical signal. The monitor includes an optical waveguide router similar to a Dragone router with at least twice as many output waveguides as the number of component optical signals. An array of optical detectors is disposed to detect output optical signals from the output waveguides. The optical detectors produce a plurality of electrical output signals corresponding to the power of each detected output optical signal. The monitor includes a programmable computer to compare the electrical output signals to a predetermined set of output responses. The power and wavelength of each component optical signal of the multiplexed optical signal may be determined from this comparison.
Abstract: A liquid-cooled heat sink is provided having a cooling housing including a peripheral side wall extending from the perimeter of a bottom wall and a lid sized to engage the peripheral side wall so as to form a chamber. A fluid inlet port and a fluid outlet port are defined through the lid, and disposed in fluid communication with the chamber. In one embodiment, a plurality of pins project outwardly from the bottom wall so as to be positioned within the chamber and arranged in a staggered pattern. The pins include an end that engages the undersurface of the lid. In an alternative embodiment, a corrugated fin having a plurality of corrugations is positioned within the chamber so that at least one of the corrugations engages the bottom wall and at least one of the corrugations engages the under surface of the lid.
Abstract: An integrated circuit has a plurality of buried metal fuses and an apparatus for selectively controlling the plurality of buried metal fuses. Each buried metal fuse has an output state. A plurality of latches each correspond to a respective one of the plurality of buried metal fuses. An encoding fuse has a first state and a second state. A plurality of gates, consists of either a plurality of XOR gates or a plurality of XNOR gates. Each gate has a first input coupled to the output of a respective one of the plurality of buried metal fuses and a second input coupled to the encoding fuse. Each gate has an output coupled to a respective one of the plurality of latches. Each of the plurality of latches has an output state that is the same as the state of the respective one of the plurality of buried metal fuses to which that latch is coupled, when the encoding fuse is in the first state.
