Abstract: An impact absorbing device which provides impact protection for boats and personal watercraft, having an elongated collapsible molded plastic body including a plurality of pleats that fold and stack against one another, and a flexible plastic attachment member connected to the body that permits the device to be suspended from an associated boat, watercraft or docking structure. The collapsible body of the device permits it to be collapsed down into a compact configuration that consumes less space storage space in a boat or watercraft.
Abstract: A reduced size, hermetically sealed semiconductor transducer and methods for fabricating the same. In a preferred embodiment, the transducer comprises a transducer wafer including a diaphragm which deflects upon the application of a force thereto. At least one semiconductor transducer element and one electrical contact are disposed on a top surface of the transducer wafer, with the electrical contact coupled to the semiconductor element and extending to a peripheral portion of the wafer. A cover member is provided that is dimensioned to surround the semiconductor element. A peripheral glass frit bond is formed between the cover member and the transducer wafer, and between the cover member and at least a portion of the electrical contact. An aperture is formed in a top portion of the cover member, positioned above a region bounded by the peripheral glass bond. This aperture functions to prevent air gap formation in the peripheral glass frit bond.
Abstract: A web transfer belt is provided having a good paper releasability with good paper releasability and having stable surface features. The web transfer belt includes a high-molecular weight elastic member 2 having a web-receiving face 2b for receiving a web P to transfer, and a surface layer forming member 3 disposed on the high-molecular weight elastic weight member 2. A portion of high-molecular weight elastic weight member 2 is exposed on web-receiving face 2b, with one of the web-receiving face 2b and surface layer forming member 3 being made of a hydrophobic material. In this way, water-repellent portions and water-condensing portions are dispersed on the web-receiving face, with recesses and protrusions at fine scales, which can break a water film formed between web-receiving face 2b and web P, and can be easily formed on the web-receiving face 2b.
Abstract: A combined cosmetics compact and cellular radiotelephone device having a casing which includes the working components of a radiotelephone and a mirror. One of the working components of the radiotelephone is a display. The display operates in a first mode as the mirror. The display can include an apparatus for projecting information associated with the operation of the radiotelephone on the mirror when the display is operated in a second mode. The casing can include a first housing member and second housing member. The housing members and the working components of the radiotelephone form a cellular flip-radiotelephone. At least one receptacle for storing cosmetics can be provided in the casing. The battery of the device can be used for selectively operative for heating the receptacle. A cosmetics applicator can also be provided in the casing.
Abstract: A musical instrument stand holds at least one and preferably a number of musical instruments by a supporting structure that partly includes the structure of a case having top and bottom halves that are hinged together. The top and bottom halves are pivoted open to place the top half in a substantially vertical position where the top half holds a supporting yoke for holding an instrument, such as the neck of a guitar resting against a pad in the bottom half. A frame mounted to the case has two vertical legs mounted on the top half and a laterally extending support between the legs. Each leg is pivotally fastened in spaced relation to the other and is pivoted down for storage in the case or up to hold the lateral support and the instrument(s). In the pivoted-up position the legs snap resiliently into cutouts in a front edge of the top half, which provides part of the structural support for the instrument. The lateral support is coupled to and extends between the two legs at a selectable height.
Abstract: A pressure sensing device for producing an output proportional to an applied pressure irrespective of vibration and acceleration of the device, the device including: a first deflecting diaphragm formed in a first wafer and including a first plurality of piezoresistors mounted thereon, the first diaphragm being responsive to the applied pressure and vibration of the device; and, a second deflecting diaphragm formed in the first wafer and including a second plurality of piezoresistors mounted thereon, the second diaphragm being responsive only to vibration of the device; wherein, the first and second pluralities of piezoresistors are electrically coupled together to provide a common output such that they cooperatively at least partially cancel a portion of the common output associated with the vibration of the device.
Abstract: An electronic circuit for use in a monocular night vision device for electronically controlling a plurality of components within the device, the device having an objective lens assembly for receiving low intensity light, a variable gain image intensifier tube having a user adjustable variable gain controller external to the tube for adjusting the light intensity level of a visible output image, a single eyepiece lens assembly for viewing the output image from the image intensifier assembly; and a non-metallic housing comprising an upper housing for receiving the objective lens assembly, image intensifier assembly, and eyepiece lens assembly, and a lower housing containing a battery cavity for receiving batteries to power the device. The housing aligns the objective lens assembly with the image intensifier assembly and the eyepiece lens assembly along an optical axis wherein the upper and lower housing are coupled to one another along the optical axis.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a flat display screen including a light-emitting source organized in a first array of strips generally parallel in a first direction, and at least one second opaque array, interposed between the light-emitting source and a display surface, and organized in a second direction generally non-perpendicular to the first direction, at least one of the arrays exhibiting, along an axis parallel to the general direction of the first array and whatever the position of this axis in a perpendicular direction, a constant proportion of transparent surface for an elementary pattern.
Abstract: A pressure transducer including: a silicon substrate including: a first surface adapted for receiving a pressure applied thereto, an oppositely disposed second surface, and a flexing portion adapted to deflect when pressure is applied to the first surface; at least a first sensor formed on the second surface and adjacent to a center of the flexing portion, and adapted to measure the pressure applied to the first surface; at least a second gauge sensor formed on the second surface and adjacent to a periphery of the flexing portion, and adapted to measure the pressure applied to the first surface; a glass substrate secured to the second surface of the silicon wafer.
