  • Patent number: 8318585
Abstract: To facilitate bonding of articles at a low temperature without degrading electrical contact between the articles. An oxide film reducing treatment with hydrogen radicals is carried out for surfaces of lead-out electrodes (5) and bump electrodes (6) on the lead-out electrodes (5) of a semiconductor chip (2) and surfaces of lead-out electrodes (8) of an intermediate substrate (3), and, after that, the bump electrodes (6) of the semiconductor chip (2) and the lead-out electrodes (8) of the intermediate substrate (3) are aligned with each other. After that, a pressure is applied to bond the bump electrodes (6) and the lead-out electrodes (8).

  • Patent number: 8320270
Abstract: A base station apparatus switches between a communication mode for performing communication with a communication party and a calibration mode for performing a calibration process. In the calibration mode, a weight vector in accordance with a first algorithm for performing a null steering directivity control for orienting an area of drastically-lowered antenna gain in the direction of arrival of a reception signal. Furthermore, multiple transmission signals weighted by the acquired weight vector are output, and a correction value for readjusting the result of the null steering directivity control is acquired from a control PC. In the communication mode, multiple transmission signals are corrected by using the correction value acquired in a calibration mode, and the corrected signals are output.

  • Patent number: 8316802
Abstract: An animal cage box has a grommet for passing a watering conduit through a box side wall. The grommet is removably attachable at an opening through the side wall, using a non-round configuration by which the grommet is aligned for insertion into a non-round opening, and turned to hold the grommet in place. A flange on the grommet body rests against one face of the side wall. The non-round configuration includes one or more tabs that can be cut from the flange and are displaced axially by a distance equal to the side wall thickness. A hinge flap that can be grasped in the fingers helps to hold, align, insert or remove and twist the grommet relative to the side wall. The disclosed arrangement further minimized the cost of using inexpensive disposable cage boxes because relatively expensive grommets, for example of stainless steel, can be cleaned and reused.

  • Patent number: 8320682
Abstract: A physically demarcated body part is recognized and located using only a relatively small amount of computation, but with a sufficient degree of recognition accuracy. For this purpose a procedure is proposed for detecting physically demarcated body parts (face, hand, leg) of a person's image (5) if a body part (2) as depicted in front of a background (3). Borderlines (5d, 5e) in the image are only evaluated along line directions (5a?, 4a?, 4b?, 5c?) to determine, by comparing with model (30), whether the body part image corresponds to a type of body part given by the model. In addition, line directions (5d?, 5e?) inside a body part image and borderline directions (5a) of a physically demarcated body part are used to locate and store its position.

  • Patent number: 8320953
Abstract: A mobile terminal device is provided which can be used without an incongruous feeling. In Step S14, it is determined whether or not the operated application is the second display state (landscape display). When it is determined that the application is not the landscape display, the process is transferred to Step S15, and the key operation functions assigned to the keys b1 to b6 of the “TURN-CLOSE STATE (LENGTHWISE)” of the key assignment table are assigned to the keys b1 to b6. In Step S14, when it is determined that the operated application is the landscape display, the process is transferred to Step S16, the key operation functions assigned to the keys b1 to b6 of “TURN-CLOSE STATE (WIDTHWISE)” of the key assignment table are assigned to the keys b1 to b6, and the key operation unit in the turn-close state has the same function as the cross key 15a.

  • Patent number: 8317973
Abstract: The present invention relates to cost-effective and environmentally friendly polyester surfactants containing a condensation esterification product of a polyhydric alcohol, a multimeric acid, and at least one polyalkylene glycol for use in flotation deinking under traditional alkaline, reduced alkali, and true neutral deinking conditions. The polyester deinking surfactants of the present invention will effectively exhibit greater selectivity than traditional flotation deinking surfactants. In particular, the polyester deinking surfactants can give better foam control, improved yield, and no loss in ERIC reduction.

  • Patent number: 8316568
Abstract: A chamber reinforcement for composite firearm barrel and method for forming the same. In one embodiment, the barrel includes an inner tube defining a bore that provides a bullet path and an outer sleeve preferably made of a material lighter in weight than the tube. In some embodiments, the inner tube is made of a material that preferably has a greater density and strength than the outer sleeve. The reinforcement in one embodiment may be in the form of an end cap disposed on a portion of the sleeve. The reinforcement preferably is made of a material comparable to the inner tube in density and strength to reinforce the area where a chamber is formed for receiving a cartridge. In the preferred fabrication, the reinforcement, tube, and sleeve are forged together to provide a strong and unitary structure for withstanding combustion pressures and forces associated with discharging the firearm.

  • Patent number: 8315085
Abstract: A timing tracking circuit is configured within a functional memory array, obviating the need for a separate, standalone timing tracking circuit. A generated pulse is routed circuitously through conductors enlisted for timing purposes, to trigger switching of a test cell in the array, which discharges an associated bit line from a pre-charged high value. The pulled down signal resulting from the discharge is detected at a measurement unit to infer timing characteristics of the memory array. The timing tracking circuitry is implemented by re-purposing certain conductors, test cells and dummy cells inserting certain conductive or nonconductive regions at one or more layers or at vias between layers to alter operation of the respective conductors and cells. Cells and conductors not enlisted for timing remain available for efficient, reliable memory access performance.

  • Patent number: 8314652
Abstract: An RC filter is calibrated to a desired cutoff frequency by initializing the filter with a cutoff frequency. An input signal is filtered by the RC filter to provide a filter output signal having phase and frequency values. The cutoff frequency of the RC filter is adjusted based on the phase and frequency values of the filter output signal if the phase and frequency values do not satisfy a predetermined condition. The filtering and adjusting are repeated until the phase and frequency values of the filter output signal satisfy the predetermined condition. A calibration apparatus has a frequency generator, a resistor-capacitor (RC) filter, a phase comparator, a frequency detector, and a state machine. The phase comparator, frequency detector, and state machine are configured to calibrate the RC filter to a cutoff frequency specified by the reference signal based on a filter output signal of the RC filter.
