Abstract: A method for wrapping a wrapper about a floral grouping wherein the wrapper is a sleeve or sheet of material having a cinching tab or strip of bonding material or both and a detaching means such as perforations for detaching a portion of the sleeve or sheet of material. The floral grouping is placed on the sheet of material which is wrapped thereabout, or the floral grouping is disposed in the interior space of the sleeve. The cinching tab is attached near one end of the sheet or sleeve. The cinching tab has a bonding material disposed thereon which, when the cinching tab is pulled tightly about the wrapper, causes the wrapper to be crimped and tightly bound about the stems of the floral grouping.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for producing and bagging decorative grass, such as Easter grass. The apparatus includes an extruder, a godet, a slitter, a cutter, a bagging assembly and a programmable logic controller. The extruder produces a continuous sheet of material, which is fed by the godet into the slitter and cutter. A thickness gauge is provided between the extruder and slitter to measure the thickness of the sheet of material. The slitter has a row of blades which slit the sheet into a continuous length of slitted material. The cutter includes a rotatable blade which transversely cuts the slitted material into a number of individual filaments. The sheet of material is urged through the slitter and cutter by the godet and an air flow produced by a blower. A foaming agent is injected into the extruder to produce low-density decorative grass.
Abstract: DNA sequences coding for branched chain keto dehydrogenase, a promoter and branched chain keto dehydrogenase, and the promoter are disclosed. Also disclosed are recombinant vectors comprising one of the foregoing DNA sequences, transformed hosts comprising one of the foregoing recombinant vectors, and a method of making the polypeptide encoded by the DNA sequence.

Abstract: A wrapping material comprising a sheet of material such as paper, cellophane, foil, or man-made organic polymer film and a cling material such as polyethylene secured to a portion of the sheet of material. The cling material connects to the sheet of material and/or itself as the wrapping material is wrapped about an item thereby securing the sheet of material about the item.A method of wrapping an item such as a floral arrangement, Easter basket or a gift container by wrapping the item with the wrapping material.

Abstract: A method of wrapping a floral grouping, preferably an orchid, with a wrapper which may be a sheet of material, a sleeve or a preformed pot cover. The wrapper is preferably constructed from a laminated material made up of at least a waxy layer and a support layer which are superposed upon each other and connected or laminated to each other. A second waxy layer may be connected or laminated to the other surface of the support surface. The waxy layer is made from a waxed paper or waxed tissue. The wrapped floral grouping may also contain a shredded material for cushioning the blooms of the floral grouping.
Abstract: The present invention is a heat shield apparatus for shielding a solenoid of a starter from heat generated by an engine. The apparatus is provided with a heat shield positionable between the engine and the solenoid. A clipping assembly is connected to the heat shield for clippingly and detachably connecting the heat shield to the solenoid of the starter such that the heat shield is maintained a predetermined distance from the solenoid and in a predetermined position whereby the heat shield shields the solenoid from heat.
Abstract: The present invention contemplates a composition and method for treating septic shock in a mammal or as a prophylactic treatment prior to a surgical procedure, comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of a bacterial lipopolysaccharide binding peptide derived from CAP37 protein. In a preferred version, the composition and method of use may comprise a peptide comprising amino acids 20-44 of CAP37 or a subunit thereof.

Abstract: A decorative assembly for a floral grouping comprising a floral holding material and a sheet of material. The floral holding material is constructed of a material capable of receiving a portion of a floral grouping and supporting the floral grouping. The sheet of material is extended about a portion of the floral holding material and a crimped portion is formed in the sheet of material with the crimped portion cooperating to hold the sheet of material about the floral holding material to provide a decorative covering.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for covering a flower pot by automatically providing a sheet of material in a vertical or semi-vertical orientation and automatically wrapping the sheet about the flower pot.
