Abstract: A self-standing livestock feeder for holding salt, minerals, grain, and the like. The livestock feeder includes a plurality of leg members constructed of a polymeric material, a circularly-shaped trough constructed of a polymeric material, and a feed storage bin constructed of a tubular polymeric material. The trough and the feed storage bin are supported on the legs by a polymeric support ring. The feed storage bin has at least one feed dispensing opening disposed through the feed storage bin at the lower end thereof to permit gravitational flow of feed from the feed storage bin into the trough via the feed dispensing openings whereby such feed is accessible to livestock.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for cleaning cylindrical objects such as bolts and pipes is provided. The apparatus includes a support frame to which at least three shafts are rotatably mounted. Each shaft is provided with a circular brush secured to a portion thereof such that the brushes are arranged in a coplanar relationship and spaced apart to define an object receiving passage wherein each of the brushes engages the object when the object is disposed in the object receiving passage. The brushes are caused to be rotated in the same direction but with one of the brushes rotating at a different rate than the other brushes so that the object is caused to rotate in response to the rotation of the brushes.
Abstract: A method for making decorative grass from an optical effect material having a holographic design which imparts at least a portion of an optical effect to the decorative grass. The optical effect material may include printed matter and/or an embossed pattern to provide at least a portion of the decor of the decorative grass. The method includes slitting the sheet of optical effect material to provide strips; and chopping the strips of optical effect material into segments of a predetermined length to provide the decorative grass.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for preparing an item or plurality of items for shipment. Disposing one or a plurality of items on a rigid surface having a layer of deformable cushioning material with a bonding material thereon wherein the items are connectingly bonded to the foam layer which is deformed in response to the items. The items may be items of china, floral containers, and flower pots, or other similar items.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for forming a flower pot cover or sleeve by automatically delivering a sheet of material to a forming mold, automatically forming the sheet about the mold, and removing the formed cover from the mold.
Abstract: P-selectin has been demonstrated to bind primarily to a single major glycoprotein ligand on neutrophils and HL-60 cells, when assessed by blotting assays and by affinity chromatography of ?.sup.3 H!glucosamine-labeled HL-60 cell extracts on immobilized P-selectin. This molecule was characterized and distinguished from other well-characterized neutrophil membrane proteins with similar apparent molecular mass. The purified ligand, or fragments thereof (including both the carbohydrate and protein components), or antibodies to the ligand, or fragments thereof, can be used as inhibitors of binding of P-selectin to cells.
