Abstract: The invention relates to a measuring device (1) for detecting processes in the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine, comprising a pressure sensor (3) which is arranged to be inserted into a bore hole of the internal combustion engine which opens into a combustion chamber, with the pressure sensor (3) comprising at least one optical light guide (6) optically opening into the combustion chamber, and with an optical injection element (8) being arranged preferably in the opening region into the combustion chamber. In order to enable performing simultaneously a pressure measurement and optical combustion chamber monitoring at the same place of the combustion chamber, it is provided that the optical injection element (8) is soldered into a pressure membrane (5) of the pressure sensor (3) or into the housing (2) of the pressure sensor (3).
Abstract: An actuator system, preferably for patient lifters, includes at least one actuator driven by an electric motor, a control unit having a power limiting circuit, and at least one handset having a plurality of keys. The actuator system is arranged such that the threshold value of the maximum permissible power in the power limiting circuit may be changed, and that this change may be performed via a key on the handset. Thus, it is possible to subsequently adjust the cutout limit safely and easily via a key on a handset, so that the cutout limit may be adapted to the actual application into which the actuator system is to be incorporated. For reasons of safety, it is preferred to use a separate handset for changing the threshold value.
Abstract: Actuator comprising of a quick release unit and a means for determining the position of an activation element. With the quick release unit it is possible to release the activation element from the actuator's electric motor and the transmission or, at least part of it, to make a rapid adjustment to the activation element without the motor and transmission. The means typically used for determining the position of the activation element comprises of a potentiometer, an optical or magnetic encoder indirectly driven by the motor. By connecting the instrument for position determination (33) to the spindle (2) or the part of the transmission between the quick release and the spindle (2), the position of the activation element remains known regardless of whether it is released or connected, or has been released.
Abstract: A wireless monitoring system and, more particularly, a wireless monitoring system for detecting and transmitting physiological data. The present invention detects physiological data relating to a patients cardiac activity and respiration rate and transmits the data to a remote base station via telemetry. The base station processes the data so that the data can be displayed by an ECG monitor.

Abstract: A linear actuator for a piece of furniture, namely a bed or chair comprising a housing (8) of plastic consisting of two parts (8a, 8b) with a joining edge (8c) in the longitudinal direction of the housing. In both ends of the housing there is a transverse through aperture (10) for receiving a pivot shaft in the piece of furniture, and with an openable cover (9) for mounting the actuator on the shafts. In connection with the apertures there is a drive comprising a reversible motor, which over a transmission drives a spindle, and where a spindle nut fixed against rotation and constructed as a sliding element is mounted on said spindle. The pivot shaft in the piece of furniture has an arm which rests loosely against the end of the spindle nut when the actuator is mounted on the piece of furniture so that the pivot shaft is rotated for raising of a section in the piece of furniture in one direction of movement of the spindle and for lowering the section under its weight in the other direction.
Abstract: A spark plug includes a longitudinal bore formed in a housing for receiving an insulator, with the housing having a first bore for receiving a pressure measuring device and a second bore for receiving a light guide which opens into the combustion chamber.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a fluid conduit assembly. In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, the inventive fluid conduit assembly includes a fluid conduit having an inlet, at least one outlet and a fluid flow passageway therebetween configured to allow for fluid to be communicated between said inlet and said at least one outlet. The inventive fluid conduit assembly further includes at least one damper disposed within the passageway of the fluid conduit. The damper includes a sealed vent configured to vent gases captured by the damper during a brazing process performed on the fluid conduit when unsealed.
Abstract: A device for removing fruit from a plant comprising a vibratory head having means for clamping a fruit plant, and means for controlling the vibratory head, preferably an electronic control means. The vibratory head further comprises at least one reaction mass which is vibratably driveable and connected to the clamping means for relative movement therebetween to provide a unidirectional force transmittable between the reaction mass and the clamping means, and hence transmittable to the plant.
Abstract: A watercraft (1) includes at least two oar handles (3a, 3b) which are designated to be actuated by a passenger of the watercraft in order to propel the same. A considerably expanded functionality is achieved in such a way that the oar handles (3a, 3b) are connected to a control unit which controls at least one power-actuated driving motor (6a, 6b; 7; 16a, 16b; 26a, 26b) of the watercraft depending on the actuation of the oar handles (3a, 3b).
Abstract: A multivalent fungal vaccine comprising one or more heat-inactivated fungal antigens, wherein at least one fungal antigen is effective in producing an immune response in a host when said vaccine is administered orally at a dose that is sufficient for preventing or treating the fungal disease in said host. Also described are methods for making and using an orally available anti-fungal vaccine.
Abstract: A segment of a seal assembly for sealing a higher pressure area against a rotating member is disclosed. The segment may include a radial external surface, a radial internal surface for sealing against a rotating member, a feed cavity, a ramp portion in communication with the feed cavity, a segment trough in communication with the ramp portion, one or more hydrodynamically-configured pads including an entrance; and a sealing dam disposed between the lift pad and the radial internal surface. The ramp portion may be configured to pick up air flow with an increase in velocity from the rotating member, and the trough or a flow-control portion may be configured to prevent fluid from flowing around or circumventing the pad entrance to, at least in part, provide a dynamic feed.
Abstract: The present invention provides an ablation catheter tip for use with an irrigated catheter device comprising an inner cavity and at least one passageway that leads to an orifice, wherein the fluid flow from the orifice promotes a circular, vortex, or spiral flow around the catheter tip from the acute angle formed at the orifice with respect to a line tangent to the surface of the ablation electrode at the orifice. The present invention further provides for an ablation catheter tip, for use with an irrigated catheter device, comprising an inner cavity and at least one curved passageway that leads to an orifice, wherein a line drawn tangent to the arc of the curve forms an acute angle measured with respect to a line drawn tangent to surface of the ablation electrode at the orifice of the passageway.

Abstract: The invention comprises a hearing aid with a casing and a battery with a battery access door in the casing. According to the invention: the door is hingedly connected to the casing to allow a pivotal motion between the battery door and the casing, a flexible locking latch having a proximal end and a distal end is provided in either casing or battery door, the distal end of the flexible locking latch is arranged to flex along a path in order to release the battery door when an opening force is applied to the door, and an arrest pin is insertable in the moving path of the distal part of the flexible locking latch to block the movement of the latch when a child-resistant battery enclosure is desired.
Abstract: A hydraulic manifold assembly includes a manifold containing a plurality of hydraulic channels that direct fluid to a centralized location and a package disposed at the centralized location to measure fluid pressure at pressure ports corresponding to the hydraulic channels. The manifold assembly directs fluid to the single package rather than scattering fluid outputs to multiple sensor locations, simplifying the overall assembly configuration.
