  • Patent number: 4833460
Abstract: An apparatus for visually indicating abnormal phase relationships between incoming or outgoing phases for a plural phase device, comprised of a plurality of light emitting means interconnected between phases by a logic circuit arrangement whereby the various combinations of on/off indicators present a coded, visual presentation representing the specific mismatch condition of the network. The invention encompasses the concept of incorporating the indicating circuitry within the multiple phase device enclosure and providing an aperture in the enclosure so that the indicators may be viewed without the necessity of gaining access to the interior of the device and exposing individuals to the danger of high voltage/current circuits.

  • Patent number: 4454405
Abstract: In a welding procedure for joining of adjacent, possibly partially enclosed metal components, such as pipe sections, wherein the welding procedure can be of a gas tungsten arc type such as a heli-arc type, or similar process, and wherein oxidation of metal frequently occurs within the components at the joinder point due to presence of oxygen in the region of weld during the welding procedure; introducing under pressure and at least initially pressure blowing, at a relatively high pressure, an inert gas into the interior of the components in a substantial swirling and interior surface wiping motion. The inert gas is blown through the components, from the entry end, beyond the weld region to rapidly, and substantially completely remove from the interior and weld region, any oxygen or other possible deleterious gas or material. Subsequently a lower pressure introduction of gas will serve to maintain the interior free of oxygen and the like.

  • Patent number: 4383488
Abstract: A folding stool including a top having a depending peripheral skirt and support leg members operatively mounted on the underside of the top, and inward of the peripheral skirt. Leg members are mounted at opposite ends of the stool. Each leg member includes two legs interconnected as a pair. The leg members are pivotally moveable to an extended stool support position, and to a retracted folded position within the confines of the skirt. Selectively engageable double leg locking means are provided, with portions thereof being on the stool top and portions thereof being on the legs of the leg members. The locking means are functionally operable for locking the leg members in the extended stool support position. Engagement and disengagement of the double locking means is manually effected by rectilinear movement of the leg members, toward the stool top when in the extended stool support position. Pivotal movement of the leg members is prevented with the locking means operatively engaged.

  • Patent number: 4350052
Abstract: Apparatus and method for tapping and extracting an oil sample from a high pressure oil filled pipe-type transmission cable system. The system voltage is very high. Pipe drilling must be carefully controlled to preclude oil and oil pressure release, and to prevent cable conductor contact by the drill. Valve means are attachable to a pipe to be tapped. A fitting having passageway means is attached to the valve. A drill bit extends through the fitting and valve, when in an open position, and is operable to drill a hole through the pipe wall. Sealing means in the fitting are in operative engagement with the drill bit shank and prevent oil and pressure release.

  • Patent number: 4158921
Abstract: This invention relates to a manipulative self-correcting educational apparatus and method for teaching relationships, similarities and differences in a number of subject matters. It includes one or a plurality of structured, multi-faceted, or facially incremented units bearing a plurality of at least two sets of indicia on each unit: each set of indicia bearing a relationship on at least two of its surfaces, so structured that manipulation of the unit discloses the relationship, or lack of it, in a self-correcting method of positioning of the related and unrelated surfaces on each individual unit or on a plurality of units.

  • Patent number: 4065581
Abstract: A mold has a support of heat-resistant material, a surface which is displaced in the upward direction from that support, a recess of semicircular cross section which is displaced in the downward direction from that support and which extends around and extends laterally outwardly relative to that surface, and an inclined wall which extends upwardly from the inner periphery of that recess to the periphery of that surface. Yeast-raised dough can be placed so the center thereof rests on that surface, so the edge thereof extends into that recess, and so the intermediate portions thereof are supported by the inclined wall; and that dough will "proof" on the mold, and can then be baked to form a bun which has a centrally located recess defined by an upwardly and outwardly inclined wall with gently rounded upper edge.

  • Patent number: 3959905
Abstract: Method and apparatus is disclosed for editing and mounting segments of recording tape containing prerecorded visual information, such as segments of an electrocardiogram (ECG) recording tape. The disclosed apparatus includes an editor for storing and feeding the tape past a window through which the tape may be viewed. Upon detection of a desired tape segment, the tape is halted and marked with the aid of a scale mounted adjacent the window opening. Thereafter, the tape is severed at each mark to form a segment having a longitudinal length corresponding to the particular type of information contained on the severed tape segment. In the preferred embodiment, the apparatus is adapted to process electrocardiogrphic recording tape and the editor scale includes a zero mark and a plurality of index marks spaced from the zero mark by distances corresponding to the desired longitudinal length of various groups of lead segments such as ECG leads I-III, V.sub.1 -V.sub.6, aVR, aVL and aVF.
