Abstract: A storm drain inlet for a below-grade collection box including front, rear and side walls and a top. The inlet includes a pair of side columns, which connect to the collection box side walls. An upper crosspiece extends between the side columns and is attached to the collection box top. A lower crosspiece comprising a back plate extends between the side walls and provides a form for the rear edge of a concrete apron poured in front of the collection box. The side columns, upper crosspiece and concrete apron define an inlet throat open to the collection box interior. A roadway or parking lot structure can include curbs, which can be poured adjacent to the collection box into proximity with the inlet side columns. The curbs are preferably not rigidly connected to the inlet in order to accommodate relative movement therebetween. The inlet can be adapted for both poured-in-place and precast collection boxes. It can be scaled to accommodate various widths and heights.

Abstract: An auger bit is provided for a foundation pile system including a drilling rig adapted for mounting and rotating a grout pipe connected to the auger bit to form an auger. The auger bit includes a stem with lower and upper sections, which taper towards a transition whereat the stem has a maximum diameter. A pile foundation forming method includes the steps of providing a drilling rig, forming an auger with a grout pipe coupled to an auger bit, rotating the auger wit the rig, forming a borehole with laterally displaced soil, pumping pressurized grout through the auger and into the borehole, placing a reinforcing cage in the wet grout and curing same.
Abstract: A combination fastener driver and fastener, the fastener driver including a generally hourglass-shaped tip which flares from the shank to the tip and the fastener includes a generally hourglass-shaped slot in the fastener head with under cut side walls. The flared walls of the driver tip engage the undercut side walls of the fastener slot to lock the tip in the slot when driving the fastener. A waist portion in the driver tip engages a waist portion in the fastener slot to prevent the tip from laterally slipping out of the slot during use.
Abstract: An articulated equipment position control system and method are provided for equipment consisting of motive and working components. The components are connected by an articulated connector, such as a pivotal hitch. GPS-derived positional data is utilized for power-articulating the hitch to maintain the working component, such as an implement, on a predetermined course. Operator-induced course deviations can thus be corrected. The working component can also be positioned to follow the course of the motive component. The system includes a microprocessor control subsystem, which interfaces with a steering guidance system.

Abstract: A system produces a multi-layer product by forming as many different ingredients as is required for the final product in steps that can be separate from each other and then combining these ingredients in an extrusion die that is formed to flow the separate ingredients in side-by-side flow paths and then combine them where necessary for the final product to be formed. Specifically, two of the flow paths are sandwiched by a third flow path whereby the final product is in the form of a sandwich with two ingredients in layers between two separate layers of a third ingredient. A specific example of the food product is an animal food treat in the form of a cheeseburger.
Abstract: A jig and bait fishing system is provided which includes various fanciful and realistic shapes for attracting and capturing fish. The system includes a body connected to a neck and a bait keeper; the neck being adapted for securing skirt material for avoiding underwater obstructions. The bait keeper secures bait and in particular internally reinforced artificial bait at the reinforced area in combination with the reinforcing material. The system also provides for a fishhook for capturing the fish and hooking the bait. The system includes a latch which prevents the fish from spitting-out the hook after capture.
Abstract: A system for coupling conduit sections includes a coupling tool with a pair of lever arms pivotally interconnected and each mounting a clamp assembly. The clamp assemblies are adapted for releasably clamping the conduit sections. A coupling has a generally tubular configuration with a throughbore with multiple annular internal ribs. A coupling method includes the steps of clamping first and second conduit sections with respective clamping assemblies, placing the conduit section ends against the coupling throughbore ends, and squeezing the tool lever arms together whereby the conduit section ends are inserted into the coupling throughbore in fluid-tight sealing and pull-out resistant engagement.
Abstract: A dent repair system includes a hammer apparatus comprising an elongated base member with proximate and distal ends. An elongated swing member with proximate and distal ends is pivotally mounted on the base member by a hinge assembly mounted on and pivotally connecting the members at their proximate ends. A tip is mounted on the base member distal end and an impact head is mounted on the swing member distal end. The swing member is movable between a splayed position with the impact head spaced from the base member distal end and a closed position with the impact head engaging the base member distal end. A pry bar apparatus includes primary, extension and handle sections. The primary section mounts a head assembly adapted for engaging and straightening a dent. A dent repair method includes the steps of straightening a dent with the hammer apparatus and with the pry bar apparatus.
Abstract: A security cover is provided for a belt-type passive restraint system including a buckle with a tab and a receiver. The cover includes a slot for receiving the buckle tab and an enclosure for receiving the buckle receiver. An optional retainer assembly can be provided for retaining the cover on the buckle receiver or the belt. The buckle is released by inserting a key through a corresponding keyhole formed in a tab end of the cover.

Abstract: This invention provides efficient HCV replicase complexes comprising novel RNA template and primer pair. Assay systems are also provided, which use such complexes, for detecting replicase activity, quantitatively studying the kinetics and mechanism of HCV NS5B-catalyzed nucleotide incorporation, and identifying inhibitors of HCV replicase. The assay systems use small and well-defined synthetic RNAs which allow efficient assembly of all catalytic components in the quaternary complex for HCV NS5B-directed RNA replication. Specific template-primer requirements for efficient RNA synthesis by HCV NS5B replicase are provided for use in assay systems.
Abstract: A tissue closure treatment system and method are provided with an external patient interface. A first fluid transfer component FTC.1 comprises a strip of porous material, such as rayon, with liquid wicking properties. FTC.1 can be placed directly on a suture line for transferring fluid exuded therethrough. An underdrape is placed over FTC.1 and includes a slot exposing a portion of same. FTC.2 comprises a suitable hydrophobic foam material, such as polyurethane ether, and is placed over the underdrape slot in communication with FTC.1. Negative pressure is applied to FTC.2 through a connecting fluid transfer component FTC.3. A negative pressure source can comprises a manual device or a power-operated suction device. The tissue closure method includes a manual operating mode using a manual suction device with an automatic shut off for discontinuing suction when a predetermined volume of fluid has been drained.
Abstract: A combination ramp and cart device includes a main frame and a pair of wheel support frames mounted thereon. In a ramp configuration the wheel support frames extend upwardly from the main frame and support respective front and back ends of ramp frames, which are removably mounted on the main frame. In a cart configuration the wheel support frames depend downwardly from the main frame and a pair of legs are mounted on the main frame to support same. In a cart configuration of the device, the main frame also mounts a trailer hitch frame. In another aspect of the invention, a hitch-mounted ramp device includes a hitch frame adapted for mounting on a vehicle and a pair of ramps adapted for mounting on the hitch frame.
Abstract: A dental or orthopedic densitometry modeling system includes a computer with a digital memory adapted for storing patient densitometry information, an input and an output. A dental or orthopedic input device includes energy source and an energy sensor, both of which can be either external or intraoral to the patient. The sensor transfers densitometry signals to the computer, which creates, stores and compares digital densitometry models. A densitometry modeling method includes the steps of creating a densitometry database consisting of dental or orthopedic information and obtaining current dental or orthopedic densitometry information from a patient. The current information is compared to the database, which can include the patient's previous densitometry models, and an updated patient densitometry model is created.
