  • Patent number: 4988780
Abstract: The present invention is flame resistant article and related method, made of phenolic triazine resin derived from a cyanato group containing phenolic resin of the formula: ##STR1## wherein: n is a positive whole number greater than or equal to 1;q and r are the same or different at each occurrence and are whole numbers from 0 to 3, with the proviso that the sum of q and r at each occurrence is equal to 3;Z is --CN, or hydrogen and --CN;o and p are the same or different at each occurrence and are whole numbers from 0 to 4 with the proviso that the sum of o and p at each occurrence is equal to 4;--X-- is a divalent organic radical; andR.sub.3 is the same or different at each occurrence and is a substituent other than hydrogen which is unreactive under conditions necessary to completely cure the copolymer.

  • Patent number: 4978727
Abstract: The present invention is a cyanato group containing phenolic resin, and method to prepare the resin. The resin of the present invention is stable and has a long shelf life. This is indicated by the gel time of greater than 1 minute, preferably greater than 2 minutes, more preferably greater than 10 minutes. The resin has substantially no smoke generation during gel time measurement at 155.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 3985149
Abstract: Valve structure for reversing gas flow comprising a housing containing a pair of disposed cylinder chambers, a pair of disposed manifold chambers, inlet and outlet means provided in each pair of said cylinder and manifold chambers, piston means provided in each cylinder chamber positioned therein to selectively effect flow between inlet means in said manifold chamber and outlet means in said cylinder chamber and flow between inlet means in said cylinder chamber and outlet means in said manifold chamber, said pistons slideably arranged in said cylinder chambers and fixedly mounted on piston rods, said rods extending slideably through the walls of the manifold chamber, and driving means connected to said piston rods for inducing said rods to reciprocate thereby effecting sliding motion of the pistons within said cylinder chambers and thereby reverse the flow between the inlet and outlet means in said cylinder chambers.

  • Patent number: 3984190
Abstract: A method and apparatus for analyzing light are provided. Light having spectral components periodic in frequency is collected, collimated and transmitted by light conditioning means to a first interferometric means. The first interferometric means selectively separates a preselected periodic spectrum from the light and transmits such spectrum in the form of a fringe having an intensity derived from and substantially equal to the combined intensities of the transmitted spectra. A second interferometric means adapted to receive the fringe transmits the preselected periodic spectrum thereof in the form of a modified fringe providing a detectable signal. The portion of total intensity of the modified fringe derived from the combined intensities of the transmitted spectrum is greater than that of the fringe in the presence of unwanted spectra.
