  • Patent number: 5239291
Abstract: A dual element ferrule fuse includes a short circuit element and an overload element. The overload element includes a heater element which, in addition to carrying heat, is designed to partially enclose the overload element with tabs that provide a weldable surface between the element and the metallic end cap, thus eliminating the need for a separate washer. Additionally, the tabs serve to center the element in the end cap and retain the element at a certain point in the fuse body between assembly of the fuse and soldering of the cap to the weldable surface.

  • Patent number: 5235306
Abstract: The improved fuse assembly includes a trigger assembly having an electrically nonconductive barrel for receiving a spring loaded trigger therein and a heater strip disposed along the outer circumferential surface of the barrel with a pair of end flaps. One end flap has a hole therethrough which fits over the end of the trigger adjacent the short circuit element. A second flap fits over the end of the barrel adjacent the end ferrule. The short circuit element, which is electrically and mechanically linked to a ferrule on the opposite end of the tube from the trigger assembly, engages the trigger and heater element in a solder fusing alloy.

  • Patent number: 5212350
Abstract: A flexible shielded cable (20). The cable includes an elongate flexible metal conductor (24) and a layer of a flexible dielectric material (26) disposed about the conductor. The cable has a flexible metallic shield (28) positioned about the dielectric material with the shield including a copper foil (30) having overlapping edges (36) and a copper, spirally served shield (32) about the foil. A layer of metal bonds together the overlapping edges, bonds the spirally served shield and the foil and closes the openings of the spirally served shield. A method of forming a metallic shield is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5199831
Abstract: The infinitely positionable coupling system of the present invention includes a hollow outer race, a hollow inner race, and a locking assembly which permits locking of the hollow inner race to the hollow outer race in an infinite number of positions. The hollow outer race engages a nose piece and the hollow inner race threadably engages the drill housing. Accordingly, the nose piece is infinitely positionable with respect to the drill housing by positioning the hollow inner race with respect to the hollow outer race and allowing the locking assembly to hold them in position one with respect to the other.

  • Patent number: 5188397
Abstract: An improved clamp and clamp supporting apparatus includes a clamp of semicircular arcuate segments with enlarged ear portions having bolt studs positioned thereon in a staggered pattern. Through holes are drilled in the ear portions in a complementary pattern to receive the bolt studs of adjacent clamp segments with nuts threaded thereon to secure the clamps around abutting clamp hubs and maintain the hubs in sealed relationship. One of the clamp hubs has paired guide rods extending therefrom on opposite sides engaging mating holes in the clamp to allow positioning the clamp in a desired position without requiring additional support means.

  • Patent number: 5172772
Abstract: This invention relates to a rotary impulse screwing device which generates only one pulse per rotation of the output shaft. Two main and two additional lamellas are adjustably positioned in the output shaft. The two main lamellas seal at a minimum of two times per rotation of the output shaft. The two additional lamellas are adjusted independently via separate recess tracks to ensure that each additional lamella seals at only one point per rotation of the output shaft. The independently articulated additional lamellas further ensure that the load on the output shaft bearing is symmetrical on non-impulse points of rotation.

  • Patent number: 5146972
Abstract: An improved method for draping curtains which allows one person to form a decorative window treatment without requiring any specialized skills or training. The method allows a curtain to be draped from a curtain rod of conventional configuration in a decorative manner about a window opening. The method uses hook and loop type fastening means to secure the curtain fabric to the curtain rod and thereby prevents the curtain from sagging at the top. Simple curtain rings are placed over the ends of the depending curtain fabric and then installed on the curtain rod near its ends to allow a portion of the curtain to form a decorative downwardly curved arc of fabric. The newly formed arc is then "dressed" or folded into pleats to complete the decorative window treatment. The improved method is also shown applied to a bay window treatment.

  • Patent number: 5145006
Abstract: An improved subsea tubing hanger having a body with an external shoulder for landing on a seat within a subsea wellhead housing, locking ring carried on the hanger to engage an interior recess of the wellhead housing, with an actuator ring for setting the locking ring. A preloading mechanism includes an extendible ring cooperating with the locking ring to prevent any movement of the tubing hanger when engaged and operable by torque supplied by the running tool. The improved tubing hanger running tool includes a body secured to the tubing hanger by conventional latching ring with a rotatable outer sleeve having an interior helical groove. A piston positioned on the running tool body and operated by hydraulic fluid pressure has an exterior pin which coacts with the helical groove to provide torque to the actuating ring and preloading ring of the tubing hanger.

  • Patent number: 4827808
Abstract: A rotary power tong for use in well drilling operations to make up and break out drill strings or similar axially elongated objects having a housing receiving a rotor assembly therein for actuating jaw members into the drill string for rotation of the drill string. The rotor assembly has a generally annular rotor with a plurality of axial bores therethrough positioned in a generally circular pattern adjacent the outer periphery of the rotor. Each axial bore receives a roller assembly comprising a shaft received through the axial bore and secured to the rotor and a roller bearing secured to the bottom of the shaft extending below the rotor. The roller bearing rotates relative to the shaft and rotor. The rotor assembly is received within a circular guide track within the housing such that the rotor assembly load is balanced evenly within the housing providing for a smooth rotational operation of the power tong.

  • Patent number: 4805301
Abstract: A tool for stripping insulation or cladding from a conductor includes a pair of oppositely opposed notched cutting blades which are mounted in blade holders. The blade holders are guided into contact with the insulation or cladding by slots contained in a housing and stopped before the cutting blades contact the conductor. The movement of the cutting blades into contact with the insulation is caused by the squeezing of a pair of handles which are resiliently mounted within a housing. The central portion of the housing includes a slot for measuring the length of insulation or cladding to be stripped from the conductor.
