  • Patent number: 8312332
Abstract: A test apparatus includes a test input signal generator that generates a test input signal of word width N, and terminals that connect to inputs and outputs of an electrical circuit to be tested. The electrical circuit includes N digital test inputs and M digital test outputs. The terminals for the test inputs are connected to the test input signal and an electrical circuit is driven such that it outputs at its test outputs data with a macro clock cycle T of length L as test response. A compactor includes M inputs that are connected to the terminals for the test outputs of the circuit to be tested. • Patent number: 8305887
Abstract: Techniques are provide herein to determine the amount of allocated and unutilized bandwidth for services already provided on each of a plurality of quadrature amplitude modulator (QAM) channels. One of the plurality of QAM channels is selected as a selected QAM channel to maximize capacity for future service requests based on a determination that the selected QAM channel can have bandwidth deallocated to support a service at a second bandwidth greater than a first bandwidth. A sufficient amount of the allocated and unutilized bandwidth is deallocated for services provided at the first bandwidth on the selected QAM channel such that the service at the second bandwidth is thereafter supportable on the selected QAM.

  • Patent number: 8306001
Abstract: Techniques are provided to improve wireless beamformed communication between first and second wireless communication devices. At a plurality of antennas of the first wireless communication device (e.g., a base station) uplink transmissions sent from the second wireless communication device (e.g., a client or mobile device or station) are received. The first wireless communication device generates a downlink beamforming weight vector from received uplink transmissions, and computes a covariance matrix for received uplink transmissions. The first wireless communication device stores history information based on the covariance matrices for received uplink transmissions. The first wireless communication device computes first and second beamforming-space time code weight vectors based on the covariance matrix for an uplink transmission received in a current frame and the history information.

  • Patent number: 8306780
Abstract: Systems and methods for operating, particularly in the field, a Raman spectroscopy device that includes a laser, a spectrograph, an intensified charge coupled device (ICCD), and an autofocus subsystem. Before spectral data acquisition commences a series of ancillary data checks is performed to monitor operating conditions of at least the laser, the ICCD, and the autofocus subsystem. Further, after each Raman spectrum acquisition, a series of data quality checks is performed to enhance confidence in the just collected data. Only spectral data that passes the data quality checks are further processed. However, all spectral data are stored in a log file. When the log file reaches a predetermined capacity, the log file is closed, and a new round of ancillary data checks is performed to again monitor the status of the Raman spectroscopy device.

  • Patent number: 8295706
Abstract: A technique for simultaneously transmitting wide and narrow optical beacon signals includes generating a laser beam and splitting the laser beam into a first signal on a first path and a second signal on a second path via a wavelength-dependent beamsplitter. A wide beacon signal having a first beam divergence is generated from the first signal, and a narrow beacon signal having a second, lesser beam divergence is generated from the second signal. The wavelength of the laser beam determines an allocation of the laser energy between the wide and narrow beacon signals based on transmittance/reflectance characteristic of the beamsplitter at that wavelength. The wide and narrow beacon signals are simultaneously transmitted in a overlaid manner into free space to support acquisition and tracking in a free-space optical communication system. The beamsplitter can simultaneously transmit or reflect substantially all of a data signal at a different wavelength.
