  • Patent number: 4865629
Abstract: A process for filtering fine particulates from a stream of hot gas wherein the particulates vary in size between about 0.15 and 250 microns includes the steps of removing a majority of the larger size particles from the gas stream, while leaving a majority of the smaller particles in the stream, then introducing into the gas stream particulates having an average size greater than the smaller size particulates, and thereafter passing the gas stream through a porous filter medium having a pore size exceeding the size of the smaller size particulates.

  • Patent number: 4858379
Abstract: An edging member is adapted to be provided in separate sections having identical cross-sectional configurations which include a male interlocking portion along one edge and a female interlocking portion located intermediate the edge defined by the male interlocking portion and another edge of a longitudinal plate-like member. Two sections of the edging member may be interlocked in perpendicular relationship so that one member which is located in a horizontal position at the top provides a protective cover and the other section which depends perpendicularly therefrom provides an earth anchor for locking the assembly in place.

  • Patent number: 4854199
Abstract: An improved portable brake disc resurfacing tool of the type which is mountable on an automobile wheel hub assembly for resurfacing brake discs without removing the disc from the automobile wheel assembly includes a generally rectangular framework having at its right hand side a frame mounting assembly including opposed arms vertically slidable on the frame and means for maintaining those arms in symmetrical positioning with respect to the frame and with respect to the brake caliper mounting assembly on which the resurfacing tool is to be mounted. The arms are also reversible in their mountings to provide added adjustability of the mounting system for varying brake disc caliper mounting members. The portable brake lathe further includes a tool mounting carriage which is slidingly retained on the framework and provides an adjustable mounting for tool holders which in turn each mount a triangular 12 point removable cutting tool thereon.

  • Patent number: 4825147
Abstract: A train of constant current pulses is applied to a capacitor to raise the voltage across the capacitor from a first predetermined level to a second predetermined level. The voltage across the capacitor is measured only during the intervals between the current pulses, and the number of applied pulses is counted and used to calculate the capacitance of the capacitor.

  • Patent number: 4823678
Abstract: Each of the head assemblies of a rotary actuator includes a tapered roller bearing in which the shaft of the actuator is journaled and an end plate against the inner face of which the stator and movable vanes of the actuator are sealed by a resilient jacket. A pressure equalizing passageway extends through each end plate from the cavity in which the associated roller bearing is mounted to the gasket which seals the stator to the end plate, thereby to equalize the pressure across the end plate and reduce the torque required to initially rotate the actuator shaft.

  • Patent number: 4823390
Abstract: An FM stereo generator for use as a modulator or in a test instrument or the like to provide the conventional 19 KHz and 38 KHz signals. The phase of the generated 19 KHz pilot subcarrier signal is fixed relative to the 38 KHz carrier signal. The 38 KHz double sideband suppressed carrier signal is generated in a digital synthesis circuit to provide a stable 38 KHz carrier signal. The left and right stereophonic audio signals are applied to operational amplifiers to provide sum and difference audio components. The difference component is applied as an input to a double sideband suppressed carrier digital-to-analog converter which is responsive to the synthesis circuit to provide the 38 KHZ carrier signal. The 19 KHz pilot subcarrier signal is generated by a digital-to-analog converter that is clocked by a crystal timer which is common to both signals thereby to lock the phase of the pilot signal to the 38 KHz signal.

  • Patent number: 4804029
Abstract: A bead seating system which comprises a wheel and tire support having a small diameter central hub, a plurality of widely spaced radial clamp carrying support arms, a single, elongated air nozzle located below and in proximity to the support and a noise reduction housing enclosing the nozzle. The orifice of the nozzle is elongate in the horizontal direction and directs a flat, trapezoidal stream of air through an opening in the noise reduction housing and the space between two of the radial support arms into the area between the bead of the tire and the rim of a wheel resting on the support. The nozzle is angularly oriented relative to the horizontal so that for all rim sizes the air stream is directed either into the space between the rim and the bead or in a direction nearly tangential to the outer wall of the tire. Accordingly, the air flows along the side wall of the tire in a laminar manner into the tire.

  • Patent number: 4795966
Abstract: An instrument for measuring the equivalent series resistance of a capacitor includes a plurality of constant current generators across which a capacitor under test is adapted to be connected. A selected one of the generators is periodically enabled to supply a constant current to the capacitor and the voltage across the capacitor is measured and displayed a short time after the generator is enabled, after which time the capacitor is discharged and the measuring cycle is repeated.

  • Patent number: 4767468
Abstract: A thermocouple assembly for attachment to surfaces by welding which includes a solid metal head formed with a knife edge and receiving sheathed thermocouple conductors, the ends of which are disposed at the knife edge and are junction welded. The head is economically fabricated on a mass-production basis, and the sheathed conductors are attached in a simple manner to minimize the overall production costs of the assembly. The disposition of the junction and the connection between the sheath and the solid head coacts with the weldments mounting the assembly on a surface to control the heat energy path such that the effective junction permits the junction to accurately function with respect to sensing the temperature of the surface on which the assembly is mounted.

  • Patent number: 4760448
Abstract: A composite RF television signal is converted to an IF signal, passed through an AGC circuit and the amplitudes of the horizontal sync pulses are sampled only during the horizontal sync period. The high and low peak samples are stored and the difference between the levels of these peak samples, which is proportional to the HUM in the system, drives a meter calibrated to show the percent of HUM in the composite RF television signals.

  • Patent number: 4750237
Abstract: A trolley assembly for a pocket door system comprises a central carrier having a plurality of rollers journaled for rotation thereon. A hanger member having a bolt portion which is threadedly received by the carrier includes a laterally extending pintle. The pintle is received within an aperture of a bracket member secured to an upper edge surface of a door. A locking member is insertable into the aperture after the pintle is received therein and includes an abutment portion selectively positionable in proximity to the hanger member. When inserted into the aperture, the locking member blocks relative movement between the bracket member and hanger member thereby preventing removal of the pintle from the bracket aperture. The door height is conveniently adjusted by removal of the locking member and dissociation of the bracket member from the pintle whereupon the hanger member can be selectively threaded inwardly or outwardly of the carrier.
