    Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for scanning original images wherein the original images are scanned by a scanner and processed in a computer workstation. The scanning of an original image is carried out simultaneously with the processing of at least one other original image. A method and apparatus for scanning an original image wherein the original image is scanned in bands by a scanner and processed in a computer workstation. The scanning of one band is carried out simultaneously with the processing of at least one other band.
