    Abstract: The invention provides a method for a multi-echo acquisition technique capable of obtaining separate water only and fat only images in anatomies having large time-varying phase disturbances. This multi-echo technique is also useful in anatomies where magnetic field inhomogeneity is significant. Also provided is a system, which is capable of producing a reconstructed complex water image whose phase component maintains the temperature dependent phase information. Similarly, the reconstructed fat image maintains the phase information pertaining to the time-varying phase disturbances.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to methods for the detection of myelin and a quantitative measurement of its local concentration in a sample using a benzofuran compound or its radioisotope derivatives. In one embodiment a method of myelin detection comprises identifying a subject at risk of or diagnosed with a myelin-associated neuropathy, parenterally administering to the subject the benzofuran compound, or a derivative of the compound, and determining myelination in the subject by detecting binding in the sample. In one embodiment, the invention provides a method of imaging myelinated tissue in a surgical field of mammalian tissue comprising the steps of contacting the surgical site with the benzofuran compound or a radioisotope derivative of the compound, and detecting binding in the surgical site.

    Abstract: The invention provides method for locating one or more substantially circular-shaped tissue sample positioned on a solid support. The method involves the steps of transmitting light of a preselected wavelength onto a tissue sample, wherein the light induces the tissue sample to autofluoresce, identifying the center location of the tissue sample using the autofluoresced light, correlating the coordinates of the center location of the tissue sample on the solid support using an x, y-coordinate system, and mapping the coordinates of the tissue sample on the solid support to differentiate tissue sample containing regions from blank regions on the solid support. In a second aspect, the invention provides an apparatus for locating one or more substantially circular-shaped tissue sample positioned on a solid support.

    Abstract: Methods of activating an apo-peroxidase are provided. The methods include the steps of providing a solution comprising an apo-peroxidase and a heme choline ester, hydrolyzing the heme choline ester with a choline esterase, and converting the apo-peroxidase to active peroxidase. The methods disclosed herein also provide for detecting the presence of an analyte in a sample. The methods include providing a binder capable of specifically binding the analyte wherein the binder is attached to a solid surface, applying the sample to the solid surface under conditions that permit binder-analyte binding, adding a choline esterase-conjugated binder that binds to the analyte, adding an apo-peroxidase, a heme choline ester, a peroxide, and a peroxide-activated signal generator, and detecting the signal produced by the peroxide-activated signal generator. An associated kit and components are also provided.

    Abstract: The present invention related to devices and methods for using ferrite alignment keys in wireless remote sensor assemblies. In one aspect, the invention provides wireless resonant sensor assemblies comprising a pick-up coil, a ferrite alignment key positioned in and extending from the pick-up coil, and wireless resonant sensor having a receiving element wherein the pick-up coil and the wireless resonant sensor align upon insertion of the ferrite alignment key into the receiving element. The ferrite alignment key may also be part of a resonant sensor such that insertion of a pick-up coil into a receiving element of the alignment key results in a configuration where the alignment key is positioned in and extended from the pick-up coil. Methods of measuring one or more parameters of a monitoring system are also provided. The insertion of the ferrite alignment key aligns the pick-up coil and wireless resonant sensor thereby increasing sensing of the wireless resonant sensor by the pick-up coil.

The appendage includes at least one chamber therein to receive a quantity of pharmaceutical product from the receiver vessel. The system also includes a quality control device configured to measure at least one parameter of the pharmaceutical product in at least one of the receiver vessel and the appendage.
