  • Patent number: 6637053
Abstract: The present invention is a mattress which consists of a series of elongated foam members positioned adjacent each other in parallel, a plurality of foam blocks separating each elongated foam member, a series of parallel slots formed along one surface of each elongated foam member, and a series of elongated slats mounted perpendicularly to the foam members. The slats are dimensioned and configured to fit within the slots of adjacent foam members such that the slats lie flush with respect to the surface of each foam member. The slats are held in place on each foam member by elongated webs which are bonded to the surface of each foam member. Each web extends between the opposite ends of the foam member and is dimensioned to cover over the slats where the slats overlap the foam member. The mattress construction also includes a mattress cover which encloses the foam members and slats.

  • Patent number: 6632162
Abstract: A method for making recessed tray liners for storing objects in a storage container is disclosed. The first step in the method is to size a structural thermoplastic foam liner to fit within a tray. The foam liner is preferably a foamed polyethylene plastic. After the tray is lined with the foam liner, the object or objects to be held in the tray are then heated to a temperature sufficient to soften the thermoplastic foam. The temperature of the heated object is selected to be above the softening temperature of the thermoplastic foam, but below the melting temperature of the foam. After the object or objects have reached the appropriate temperature, the heated object is pressed into the foam lining to form a cavity. The heated foam will flow such that the cavity will conform to the contours of the object being pressed into the foam. After the object is sufficiently pressed into the foam, it is rapidly cooled to a temperature below the softening temperature of the foam.

  • Patent number: 6616541
Abstract: A golf ball teeing device is disclosed. The device includes a housing having a ball storage compartment having an opening dimensioned to permit golf balls to pass there through. The housing has a ball selector which is adapted to permit only one golf ball to be moved out of the opening at one time. A placement arm is pivotally mounted to the housing adjacent the ball selector. The arm has a channel configured to permit golf balls to roll down the arm. The distal end of the arm has a projecting portion which is configured to remove the ball from the channel when the ball rolls past. The arm is pivotally movable in a substantially horizontal plane between a first position wherein the distal end is adjacent a placement point for the golf tee and a second position wherein the distal end is positioned away from the placement point.

  • Patent number: 6616951
Abstract: An herbal extract which is effective in treating the symptoms of menopause is disclosed. The herbal extract comprises an aqueous suspension of a plurality of fermentation products of the herb Angelica sinensis. The suspension is made by suspending a quantity of crushed Angelica sinensis with a quantity of active yeast in a volume of water and then permitting the yeast to ferment the crushed Angelica sinensis. The fermentation is preferably carried out at a temperature selected for optimum fermentation period of at least seven days. The optimum fermentation temperature is preferably between 10° C. to 20° C. The fermented mixture may then be filtered after the end of the fermentation period to remove a majority of any coarse solids remaining in the suspension. A yeast nutrient mixture may also be added to the suspension prior to fermentation. Preferably, the fermentation period is less than 30 days.

  • Patent number: 6346040
Abstract: A ventilation baffle for use in building roofs includes a rectangular sheet dived by a plurality of fold lines into a rectangular central portion and a pair of side edge portions on opposite sides of the central portion. The edge portions are further divided into a pair of flange portions and a pair of spacer portions. The edge portions are bendable upward to form upstanding sides, the first pair of flange portions being bendable outwardly to form tabs which are attachable to the roof sheeting, said spacer portions separating the central portion of the sheet from the tabs and defining an air-flow passageway between the central portion and the roof sheeting. The sheet also has an end portion which can be bent downwardly to define an outer end wall between adjacent roof rafters which can be further positioned to contact the top plate of the roof for attachment.
