Abstract: An expulsion type fuse is provided which is resistant to line surges caused by lightning. The fuse includes an inner fusing assembly which has a tube and a knurled conductive button inserted in one end of the tube. A fusing area is provided wherein a pair of fusing leads are disposed into a cylindrical solder pot. One of such pairs interconnects the button to the solder pot. The other pair interconnects the fuse leader to the solder pot.

Abstract: An apparatus for selecting optimum lighting fixtures for a given application first determines a room cavity ratio from entered values of the dimensions of the room. The room cavity ratio is used to select from tabulated values a coefficient of utilization. The light output in lumens from a particular lamp, modified as necessary by depreciation factors, is applied to determine the number of fixtures and the spacing of those fixtures that are necessary to achieve a desired level of illumination. The design process then normally requires changing the number of fixtures to an integral number that lends itself to the space to be illuminated. Reentry of such values as well as different values of illumination levels that are associated with different fixtures allows repeated determinations to optimize the selection of a lighting fixture.
Abstract: Strips of cast amorphous metal material are folded to form segments of a transformer core. The segments are arranged in a stack or stacks that will ultimately become a transformer core. A single stack of folded segments is formed about a mandrel into the closed loop of a wound core. Two or more stacks of folded segments are arranged to form the closed loop of a stacked core. The stacks are annealed and the joints opened so that the stacks may be inserted into prewound windings. The joints are then reclosed to complete the transformer core-coil assembly.
