Abstract: A method of controlling a reduction of an amount of fuel supplied to an engine provided to a motor vehicle with an automatic transmission separated from the engine by a torque converter is provided. The method includes the step of sensing commencement of a deceleration state during which an amount of the fuel supplied to the engine is to be reduced to an amount that is less than an amount of fuel being delivered to the engine immediately prior to the deceleration state. Whether synchronization of an engine output shaft and a transmission input shaft is appropriate under the deceleration stat is also to be determined.

Abstract: The present invention generally relates to processes for predicting airflow rates. According to some embodiments, some process steps can include developing a three-dimensional computer-aided design model of a test body topology; discretizing the test body topology; discretizing a volume surrounding the test body topology, the volume being bounded by a test chamber; identifying test body components upon which to collect empirical data; obtaining empirical data for identified components; establishing an airflow model; validating the airflow model in comparison to experimental data; obtaining a flow rate from the validated airflow model; and determining whether the mass flow rate is acceptable.

Abstract: A snowplow wing attached to the end of a snowplow blade may be manually adjusted into position to increase the operative width of the snowplowing surface, and otherwise capture or direct the flow of snow being plowed.
Abstract: A front panel display assembly may have an integrated decorative film having first and second sides. The first side may have a half-mirroredrface that allows the passage of light in only a single direction and the second side may have a non-uniform diffusion pattern that extends across it. The non-uniform diffusion pattern may regulate and diffuse light irradiated onto the second side to pass through the integrated decorative film and to be regulated and emitted uniformly across the front panel display assembly.
Abstract: A clamp assembly is disclosed for a tonneau cover for a vehicle wherein the clamp assembly includes a plurality of spacers disposed therein to facilitate installation thereof on a variety of vehicle types and styles.
Abstract: A method may include the steps of: (a) providing a tire mold; (b) providing an extruder operatively connected to a head with a die assembly; (c) inserting at least a first compound into the first extruder; (d) forming an extrudate from the die assembly; (e) applying the extrudate directly from the die assembly into the tire mold to form a tire tread component; and, (f) controlling movement of the tire mold to correspond to the extrudate delivery.

Abstract: A wire coupling device which may be used joining at least a separate first wire and second wire comprising: a housing having at least a first port and a second port, each port configured to receive a separate wire; a camming member disposed between the at least first and second ports, the camming member rotatable between a first, open position and a second, closed position, where the camming member provides electrical contact between the at least first wire and second wire when in the second, closed position.
Abstract: A process for producing a tissue transplant construct for reconstructing a human or animal organ. The process may include the steps of: (a) isolation and two-dimensional cultivation of organ-specific tissue cells; (b) application of the organ-specific tissue cells to a biocompatible, collagen-containing membrane; and, (c) cultivation of the organ-specific tissue cells on the membrane with biochemical and mechanical stimulation of the organ-specific tissue cells. Tissue transplant constructs and methods for using tissue transplant constructs are also taught.
Abstract: A vehicle may have an engine that provides power for locomotion; a plurality of ground engaging wheels; a clutch assembly connected to the engine and connected to at least one of the ground engaging wheels; and a turbocharger assembly connected to the engine and connected to the clutch assembly. The turbocharger assembly is operated to engage the clutch assembly to connect, for locomotion, the engine to the ground engaging wheel.
Abstract: Some embodiments include an automotive variable attenuated transmittance device having a predetermined minimum transmittance. Such devices can include a suspended particle device, liquid crystal device, polymer dispersed liquid crystal device, or electrochromic device. Some embodiments also include a manual and/or automatic control system for varying transmittance according to any of a variety of data including, without limitation, position, orientation, transmitted power, and/or the position of an occupant's head.
Abstract: A vehicle may have a load floor with a load receiving surface that is supported to the frame and a panel having first and second sides, the second side having a storage cavity. The panel may be adjustable between: (1) a first position where the first side defines at least a portion of the load receiving surface and the second side defines no portion of the load receiving surface; and, (2) a second position where the first side defines no portion of the load receiving surface and the second side defines at least a portion of the load receiving surface. When the panel is in the first position, a pillow may be at least partially received within the storage cavity and it may be hidden. When the panel is in the second position, the pillow may not be hidden.
Abstract: A spare tire hoist may be provided. A retention cable may be used to retain a spare tire against a surface of a motor vehicle. A tensioning spring may be used to tension the retention cable when the spare tire is in a storage position. A wheel plate engages the spare tire and cooperates with the retention cable and the tensioning spring to maintain the spare tire in the storage position. The wheel plate may include an insert portion that engages a center aperture of a wheel rim of the spare tire. A flange portion that substantially surrounds the insert portion and engages a peripheral surface of the wheel rim may also be provided. A reinforcement ring may be included in the wheel plate, substantially coextensive with the insert portion and extending within a substantially hollow region of the flange portion. The reinforcement ring may provide mechanical reinforcement to the wheel plate.
