    Abstract: A surgical knot pusher device comprises a thick-walled cannula or tube having a beveled elliptical face and a central channel for slidably receiving one end of a suture. The other end of the suture is slidably inserted in one of a pair of longitudinal grooves formed on the outer surface of the cannula which intersect the elliptical face at the opposite ends of its major axis. One of the longitudinal grooves extends along the longest portion of the cannula and the other longitudinal groove extends along the shortest portion of the of the cannula. As the knot pusher device is inserted into a surgical port, a knot formed in the suture is engaged by the beveled face and advanced toward a surgical site. A notch is formed at the proximal end of the cannula for receiving the end of the suture threaded into the central channel. A threading element comprising an elongated rod with a deformable loop is provided to thread the suture into the central channel of the cannula.

    Abstract: An endoscopic surgical apparatus capable of ligation and division. The apparatus has a frame and a tubular shaft attached to said frame. Also attached to the frame is a handle. The apparatus has ligating means and cutting means. Actuation means are mounted to the apparatus for actuating both the ligating means and the cutting means. The apparatus has a clutch means capable of enabling the actuating means to switch between a first mode for actuating the ligating means and a second mode for actuating the cutting means. The cutting means is preferably an extendable J-hook and blade assembly. The cutting means and ligating means are preferably rotatable with respect to the frame. The ligation and division apparatus may be used to ligate and cut blood vessels or tissue in a mammalian body cavity during a surgical procedure.

    Abstract: A high solids, stable, nonaqueous dispersion, comprising a low Tg copolymer, having a Tg between about -10.degree. C. and about 30.degree. C., particularly adapted for use as a clear coat automotive finish. The copolymer is the copolymerization product of monomers whose Tg is above about 50.degree. C., polar monomers whose Tg is up to about 15.degree. C. and .alpha., .beta. ethylenically unsaturated stabilizer copolymers. The stabilizer copolymers are formed from .alpha., .beta. ethylenically unsaturated monomers and at least one oxirane containing compound and have a molecular weight of about 2,000 to about 25,000, are soluble in aliphatic solvents and have a Tg of about -60.degree. C. to about 0.degree. C. These nonaqueous dispersions result in coatings having high % solids, ease of application, minimal sagging and good gloss and DOI. They are preferably made by copolymerizing ethylenically unsaturated monomers with about 0.

    Abstract: Diarylide yellow pigment compositions comprising the reaction product of tetrazotized 3,3'-dichlorobenzidine coupled into an acetoacetarylide, and, a ketimine formed by the reaction of a primary amine and an acetoacetarylide. The ketimine-containing diarylide yellow pigment compositions have improved color strength, improved transparency and contain essentially no free primary amine. Printing inks manufactured with the diarylide yellow pigment compositions of this invention have increased color strength, increased transparency, decreased degradation of publication gravure ink vehicles and decreased acidic fountain solution emulsification in offset ink printing processes.
