  • Patent number: 4932017
Abstract: A method and device are disclosed for recording information represented by a code signal Vd on an optically readable record carrier (1) by means of optically detectable recording marks (8). Outside the areas (30) of the record carrier (1) which are used for recording the information signal reference marks (33) are formed. When the record carrier is read a detection signal Vd is generated, from which the code signal is derived by comparison of the detection signal Vd with a decision level Vref. The decision level Vref is derived from those portions (34) of the detection signal Vd which are representative of the reference marks (33).

  • Patent number: 4890302
Abstract: In circuits for reproducing carriers for continuous phase modulation having a rational modulation index these signals are multiplied in a multiplier for producing a harmonic, with unique phases occurring due to phase addition irrespective of the information to be conveyed. This harmonic is selected by means of a bandpass filter and supplied to a divider for reproducing the carrier signal. However, as the desired phases only occur at certain instants the effect of jitter in the reproduced carrier signal is undesirably high.Jitter suppression is considerably improved by supplying to the bandpass filter only the instantaneous values of the virtually desired phases occurring at the specific instants.

  • Patent number: 4703023
Abstract: In the production of low-thermal-expansive zirconyl phosphate ceramic, whose chemical formula is (ZrO).sub.2.P.sub.2 O.sub.7 and whose chemical composition is 2ZrO.sub.2.P.sub.2 O.sub.5 by sintering of the fine-powder compact, three kinds of reaction aids are employed. They are a densifying aid, a grain-growth-suppressing aid and a solid-solution-forming aid. The densifying aid is always employed, the grain-growth-suppressing aid is employed for producing a more thermal-resistant ceramic for high temperature use and the solid-solution-forming aid is employed for producing a more low-thermal-expansive ceramic.

  • Patent number: 4679743
Abstract: Apparatus for winding cable on a cable drum comprises two telescopic vertical stands mounted on under carriages and connected at their upper ends by a telescopic traverse. A first slide movable vertically by an electric motor on an vertical guideway on the upper part of each of the stands has an inclined guideway on which a second slide having a spindle for insertion into a central opening of a cable drum is slidable. In their lower positions the second slides are supported by support provided on the upper parts of the stands and, while thus supported, the second slides with their spindles are movable horizontally by vertical movement of the first slides so as to bring the spindles into alignment with central openings of a cable drum. Vertical movement of the spindles is effected by telescopic movement of the stands.

  • Patent number: 4315329
Abstract: A load measuring device for a stepping motor of an analogue electronic timepiece having a stator, a rotor and a coil includes a pulse generator for producing a range of different pulse width normal driving pulses and a driving circuit for successively applying the driving pulses to the motor. A detector detects the rotation and non-rotation state of the rotor in response to the application of each driving pulse and a control circuit is responsive to the detection by the detector for controlling the application by the driving circuit of the minimum pulse width normal driving pulse capable of driving the motor. Each minimum pulse width driving pulse corresponds to the load on the motor at that time and an analyzer analyzes the pulse width of the driving pulses to thereby indicate the load on the motor.

  • Patent number: 4203061
Abstract: In a motor-driving system, the motor speed is controlled by a feedback signal derived from the difference in frequency and phase between a manually adjustable variable frequency and a rotational speed indicating signal. Frequency deviation of the manually adjustable frequency from a standard frequency is detected to energize a visual indicating device to indicate the magnitude of the frequency deviation and hence the motor speed deviation from a setting level. The direction of the frequency deviation is detected to indicate whether the motor speed deviation is above or below the setting level. The variable frequency is manually adjusted to vary the motor speed by noting the visual indication until null indication is obtained.

  • Patent number: 4181049
Abstract: A method of machining solids of revolution by a rotary cutting tool whose effective portion is shaped as a solid of revolution set on a spindle and having a circular cutting lip, said solid of revolution being imparted rotation during the cutting process, wherein the tool axis is positioned in the plane parallel to the basic plane passing through the axis of machine centers and makes up an angle with the projection of the axis of machine centers on said plane. The distance from the plane of the tool axis to said basic plane and said angle of setting the tool axis are estimated using the following relation:H=(D/2) sin.omega.+(d tg.omega./2.sqroot.sin.sup.2 .phi.+tg.sup.2 .omega.)whereH is the distance from the plane of the tool axis to the basic plane passing through the axis of machine centers;D is the diameter of the workpiece being machined;d is the diameter of the circular cutting lip;.omega. is the central angle of setting the tool point with respect to the basic plane;.phi.

  • Patent number: 4060393
Abstract: An apparatus for treating raw material comprises a mixing chamber having fuel and air inlets for admitting therein fuel and air which are mixed to produce a combustible mixture. A combustion chamber receives the combustible mixture and burns the same to evolve hot products of combustion which are fed directly into an adjoining conditioning chamber. Additional gas is supplied to the conditioning chamber and mixed with the products of combustion to form a conditioned treating gas having a prescribed temperature and composition. To promote rapid and uniform mixing of the gases and hence form a uniform treating gas, the conditioning chamber is connected directly to and has a volume one and one-half to six times greater than that of the combustion chamber. A treating chamber disposed downstream from the conditioning chamber receives both the preconditioned treating gas and the raw material to be treated and the raw material is acted thereon by the treating gas while temporarily stored in the treating chamber.

  • Patent number: 3974636
Abstract: A booster circuit for a liquid crystal display device of a timepiece is disclosed. The booster circuit is a sort of a blocking oscillator having a transformer of which turns ratio is 1 : n (where n is a real number). The rectified output voltage of said blocking oscillator is superposed on the voltage of the cell so that the output voltage of the booster circuit is higher than of the blocking oscillator. A smoothing condenser has ample capacitance to have a larger time constant than the fluctuation time of the voltage of the cell owing to mechanical shock.

  • Patent number: 3940555
Abstract: A picture signal transmission system for transmitting after coding a picture signal obtained by scanning at least one picture to be transmitted, in which a difference between a representative level value of each picture element unit formed by at least one picture element and a forecast value obtained in accordance with a predetermined rule and based on a representative level value of adjacent ones of said picture element units is detected, and in which first level information and second level information are transmitted. The first level information indicates, for each picture element by a bit of binary information, whether or not the difference exceeds a predetermined threshold value for a group of picture elements corresponding to a predetermined area of the picture. The second level information indicates level information of particular picture elements on each of which said difference exceeds the threshold value.
