Abstract: An improved skin engaging device for use in razor cartridge assemblies and shaving systems of the wet shave type. In an embodiment, there is provided a two-component, control-release device having a sheath layer made from thermoplastic resins with openings in its skin engaging surface, coextruded with a core region containing shaving aids. At least one end of the device is at least partially closed to inhibit the ingress of water at that end of the device and to inhibit the release of the shaving aid from that end of the device during a normal shaving operation. Enclosure of the end of the device can be by addition of an end cap, by application of a film of a suitable sealant or by suitably joining opposed inner walls of a portion of the sheath extending beyond the core.
Abstract: A shaving implement includes a handle; a razor cartridge pivotally connected thereto; a biasing member extending from the handle and contacting the razor cartridge; and a bridge pivotally connected to the razor cartridge and slidably connected to the handle. The razor cartridge includes one or more razor blades and a cap located aft of the blades. The razor cartridge is pivotally connected to the handle such that the cartridge pivots about an axis that is generally parallel to and aft of the razor blades, the cartridge being pivotable between a neutral position and a rotated position. The biasing member extending from the handle is in contact with the razor cartridge to urge the cartridge toward the neutral position. The bridge is slidable between a first position when the razor cartridge is in the neutral position and a second position when the cartridge is in the rotated position.

Abstract: A safety razor has a handle and a razor cartridge. The head portion of the handle has a biasing member and connecting structure to pivotally connect to mating connection structure of the cartridge. The cartridge can pivot about a pivot axis. A cam surface of the biasing member interacts with a cam surface of the housing of the cartridge to permit resilient movement of the cartridge away from an at-rest position in response to forces encountered during shaving. The connecting structure of the handle has first and second shell bearings which each have a fin at the inner end. The fin extends towards the pivot axis and a least a portion of the tip of the fin is closer to the pivot axis than any portion of the cam surface of the biasing member. The fin resists rotation of the cartridge about an axis perpendicular to the pivot axis.

Abstract: A wall mountable razor holder is provided. The razor holder has two pairs of curved arms extending from a back plate and wall mounting structure, such as a suction cup. The razor holder retains a safety razor at least one of two alternate positions. A head down position will ensure adequate drainage from the razor to ensure an erodable shaving aid body member of the razor will not soften from unnecessary contact with water. A head up position will be more familiar to a user.
