  • Patent number: 6826587
Abstract: The invention concerns a complex number multiplier receiving the binary number A, B, C and D complementarily coded in pairs so as to perform the complex multiplication (A+jB)*(C+jD). A first processing stage enables to perform the operations A−B, C−D, and A+B whereof the results are binary numbers in base two with a redundant binary format, and a borrow-save coding for subtractions and carry-save coding for addition. A second processing stage converts said results into coded binary numbers in base four. A third processing stage enables to perform multiplication (A−B)C, (C−D)B and (A+B)D with a redundant binary format and a borrow-save coding. A last stage comprises two adders for working out the real part (A−B)C+(C−D)B and the imaginary part (A+B)D+(C−D)B in a redundant binary format and a borrow-save coding.

  • Patent number: 6824328
Abstract: An in situ thermal desorption system may be used to remove contamination from soil. Off-gas removed from the soil may be transported from the soil to a treatment facility by high temperature hoses and plastic piping. The use of high temperature hose and plastic pipe may reduce the capital cost, installation cost, and operating cost as compared to conventional transport systems from thermal desorption soil remediation systems. The high temperature hose and plastic pipe are highly resistant to corrosion caused by the off-gas. The treatment facility may separate the off-gas into a liquid stream and a vapor stream. The liquid stream and the vapor stream may be processed to reduce contaminants within the liquid stream and vapor stream to acceptable levels.

  • Patent number: 6787592
Abstract: Organoclays based on specific types of ester quats are found to be remarkably effective for use in preparing nanocomposites. These organoclays comprise the reaction product of a smectite clay and a quaternary ammonium compound (or “quat”) which comprises two esterified radicals hereinafter called a “diester quat”). The diester quat may be present in admixture with further quaternary ammonium compounds having esterified radicals, especially compounds having three esterified radicals (hereinafter “triester quats”); or compounds having a single esterified radical (hereinafter “monoester quats”). Where such a mixture of quats is used, the reaction is between the smectite clay and the quat mixture.
