  • Patent number: 7565864
Abstract: A food container insert for holding tacos upright in a food container includes a plurality of pockets, oriented at a minor slope, to facilitate drainage of grease and juices from the taco filling away from the taco shell. Slits along the bottom of the pockets also facilitate the drainage of grease and juices from the taco filling away from the taco shell. The insert is suitable for both take-out food containers and chafing pans.

  • Patent number: 7031132
Abstract: A device and method for diagnosing shorts and fault conditions in electrical circuits such as heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) control circuits. The device includes a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) member to protect the electrical circuit from overcurrent conditions during diagnosis. The device also includes a light emitting diode (LED) and resistor electrically connected in parallel across the PTC member. An overcurrent condition causes the resistance of the PTC member to rise dramatically, creating a potential difference across the PTC member and lighting the LED. The invention also includes a method for locating a short in an HVAC control circuit using the short locating device.

  • Patent number: 6993533
Abstract: A system generates linked sets of drill-down-enabled reports of increasing levels of detail from one or more databases. Linking relationships between reports are defined using the query language of the databases. Result sets are obtained that includes (1) the sought-after data, and (2) metadata that identifies drill-down reports to be generated if related report elements are selected. When the query is executed, the system passes the sought-after data to a reporting application programming interface, which generates a report (e.g., a pie chart, 3-D bar chart, cross-tabbed table). If an end-user selects one of the report elements (e.g., a bar on the chart), the system maps the reported event to the associated data of the result set. If the associated data has corresponding meta-data containing a drill-down directive, the system then generates the report identified by the drill-down directive.

  • Patent number: 6963659
Abstract: A biometric verification system for controlling access is provided that does not rely on a non-biometric discriminator, such as a PIN or magnetic card, to convert a one-to-many verification task to a one-to-one verification task. The system enrolls authorized users by obtaining digitized fingerprint templates from them and storing them in a database. Video cameras and fingerprint sensors are provided for use in authenticating persons seeking access. Software compares a digital representation of a captured human facial image with stored facial images in a database of facial images, generating a match confidence therefrom and rank-ordering the database from highest to lowest match confidence. The software then compares captured human fingerprints with stored fingerprint templates associated with the rank-ordered database to verify the identity of the person and provide an output signal indicative of recognition.

  • Patent number: 6874181
Abstract: A therapeutic bed (1) comprises a patient support platform (7) rotatably mounted on a base frame (4) for rotation about a longitudinal pivot axis between a supine support position and a prone support position. The base frame (4) is in turn mounted on a wheeled chassis (2) by pivot linkages (5) which allow tilting and raising and lowering of the base frame (4) on the chassis (2). Drive interlocks prevent rotation of the patient support platform (7) unless side rails (25) are locked on the patient support platform (7) and patient support flaps (40, 41) extending between the side rails (25) are locked together to secure a patient on the patient support platform (7). Guides (51) are provided at each end of the patient support platform (7) at the longitudinal rotational axis to guide patient care lines between a patient on the patient support platform (7) and associated devices externally of the patient support platform (7).

  • Patent number: 6728983
Abstract: A direct data and power interface is provided to the patient support platform of a therapeutic bed that allows for a complete rotation of the patient support platform in either direction. To ensure that the data and power interface is not articulated beyond its physical limit as a result of manually rotating the bed in the emergency backup mode, a mechanical stop is provided to limit rotation of the patient support platform to about 730 degrees. Sensors are provided to detect activation of the mechanical stop.

  • Patent number: 6662404
Abstract: A high-load, high-performance, twin-wheeled central-braking caster for a bed is provided having two wheels each comprised of an aluminum core disc and an annular cylindrical flange. The inside of the flanges are covered with elastomeric material in order to serve as brake drums for the wheels. The caster has a central braking mechanism comprising a spring-loaded double-armed brake lever mounted on a pivot pin to guide the brake lever so that it pivots exclusively about a horizontal axis perpendicular to the direction of the wheels' forward rolling movement. The central braking mechanism further comprises a pivot block with an aperture for receiving the pivot pin for mounting the brake lever. The braking mechanism further comprises two compression springs having sufficient spring force to bias the double-armed brake lever away from the wheel.
