  • Patent number: 6715799
Abstract: A pipe coupling for joining two sections of pipe provides six degrees of freedom where the pipe coupling includes an inlet portion, an outlet portion disposed opposite the inlet portion, and an intermediate portion disposed between the inlet and outlet portions for providing relative movement between the inlet portion and the outlet portion. The intermediate portion has a plurality of corrugations disposed about a circumference of the pipe coupling and each corrugation includes first and second arms diverging from a common vertex toward the inlet portion and outlet portion, respectively. The arms diverge at substantially a forty-five degree angle forming a V-shape, and each arm terminates at a transition area where each arm of the corrugation blends with the inlet portion and outlet portion, respectively.

  • Patent number: 6619331
Abstract: A water delivery tube assembly for use in an internal combustion engine of a locomotive provides water between an inlet aperture of a power pack and an outlet aperture of a manifold where the inlet aperture and outlet apertures are longitudinally offset from each other and are disposed in misaligned planes. The assembly includes a flexible metal pipe having inlet and outlet ends and a metal braid surrounding the pipe. The inlet and outlet housings are operatively coupled to the inlet and outlet ends of the pipe, respectively and defme an internal fluid flow path in fluid communication with the pipe. The inlet and outlet housings have compound angles defining the fluid flow path such that when the inlet housing is secured to the power pack and the outlet housing is secured to the manifold, the flexible metal pipe is maintained in a substantially linear configuration between the housings.

  • Patent number: 6556663
Abstract: A telephone system is operatively coupled to a private automatic branch exchange (PABX) system and to a voice mail system, where the telephone system permits a user to retrieve recorded voice messages from the voice mail system. The telephone system includes one or more telephones, where each telephone further includes a handset, a message waiting indicator configured to inform the user that the voice message is pending with the voice mail system, a message retrieval key for retrieving the voice message from the voice mail system, and an audio speaker configured to provide the user with audio output corresponding to the voice message. A single action by the user of activating the message retrieval key causes the voice message to be retrieved and the audio speaker to be automatically activated such that the voice message is output on the audio speaker without the user lifting the handset.

  • Patent number: 6540142
Abstract: An XML processing system for use in a barcode printer apparatus includes a computer system operatively coupled to the barcode printer apparatus. The computer system further includes an XML processor configured to receive, parse, and process an XML input data stream and obtain schema identified in the XML data stream from a schema repository. The XML processor validates the XML data stream based upon the schema obtained. Also included is an XSLT processor configured to obtain a stylesheet identified in the XML data stream from a stylesheet repository. The XSLT processor transforms data in the XML input data stream into transformed XML data based upon the stylesheet obtained. Also, an XSLFO processor formats the transformed XML data into formatted XML data based upon XSLFO instructions contained in the stylesheet. A barcode rendering subsystem then receives the formatted XML data and generates a bit map representative of the bar code label.

  • Patent number: 6458007
Abstract: A balloon holder for retaining a plurality of balloon strings attached to balloons includes a base portion having a forward end, a back end, and lateral sides. The base has an aperture formed in the base portion while at least one slot is formed in the forward end of the base portion and at least one slot is formed in the back end of the base portion. The aperture is configured to receive the plurality of balloon strings therethrough, and the slots are configured to receive the plurality of balloon strings such that as the plurality of balloon strings are wrapped about the base, the balloon strings are releasably retained by the slots.

  • Patent number: 6454133
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for discharging toothpaste from a toothpaste tube under control of a user. The apparatus includes a tube holder and a tube receptacle disposed within a first end of the tube holder and adapted to accept a cap end of the toothpaste tube. The apparatus further includes a set of nip rolls adapted to engage a body of the toothpaste tube and to urge toothpaste from a distal end of the toothpaste tube towards the cap end and a wheeled trolley coupled to the nip rolls on a first end and engaging a guide channel of the tube holder on a second end and adapted to maintain an alignment of the nip rolls with respect to a centerline of the tooth paste tube as the nip rolls travel along a longitudinal axis of the toothpaste tube from the distal end to the cap end.

  • Patent number: 6393626
Abstract: A plunger device for unblocking a clogged drain or pipe, comprises a valve housing interposed between a handle and a suction cup; a valve seat having an opening for communicating the cup with the housing; a fluid outlet formed in the housing to provide a fluid path to the outside of the device; a valve ball positioned in the housing to close said opening of the valve seat and said fluid outlet when said ball is positioned on the seat, a bolt moveable in said housing to abut said ball for locking the ball between the bolt and said seat, thereby causing fluid under pressure to flow in one direction-into the clogged drain, the bolt being movable away from said ball to unlock the ball and open said fluid outlet, said ball moving freely inside the valve housing when said ball is unlocked, thereby enabling fluid to flow in the opposite direction only—out from the clogged drain; and switch means associated with the bolt and lock and unlock the valve ball when clearing the clogged drain.

  • Patent number: 6371903
Abstract: An ultrasound therapy probe includes a therapy transducer movably mounted on a probe body, a partially deformable flexible casing disposed around the therapy transducer, and a guard ring that limits deformations of the flexible casing when the transducer moves with respect to the probe body. The therapy transducer can be moved between a therapy position and a retracted position, and the guard ring provides an end-of-travel stop against which the therapy transducer bears when in a therapy position. A first opening is provided for injecting liquid into the flexible casing, and a second opening is provided for withdrawing liquid from the flexible casing. The second opening is located on the guard ring so that bubbles are withdrawn from the flexible casing as soon as they form.

  • Patent number: 6337711
Abstract: Performance testing of transmission signals to ensure quality and compliance with governmental regulations by limiting interference with intended signals, such as entertainment signals seen by viewers, while reducing the manpower required for testing and eliminating the need for communication between field units and sources of transmission in order to improve traditional performance testing, for example, in Cable Television (CTV) Systems or CATV (Community Antenna TeleVision) Systems, which testing not only has been time consuming but also has required partial disruption of service, and application of these concepts to other modes of information transmission.
