  • Patent number: 5522730
Abstract: An electrical pin field is shown having a printed circuit board having a plurality of pins inserted therethrough, having contact sections positioned on opposite sides of the board. An insulating housing is positioned on one side of the printed circuit board, whereas a housing is positioned on the opposite side, being held in place by way of a locking plate. The locking plate includes two opposing locking arms, which when the locking plate, and housing are fully positioned on the printed circuit board grip the pin terminal portions adjacent to the board, thereby retaining the housing to the board.

  • Patent number: 5447455
Abstract: An electrical assembly for terminating magnet wire and the like has a housing with contact receiving cavities provided therein. The contact receiving cavities have separate support members which are positioned adjacent to respective side walls of the contact receiving cavities. The support members cooperate with the wires and the contacts to provide an effective and reliable electrical connection between the wires and the contacts.

  • Patent number: 5219294
Abstract: Mating plug and receptacle connectors each include electrically insulating housings and plural rows of electrical terminals. The plug connector includes two terminal supporting walls or platforms extending outwardly from the housing with terminal contact portions positioned in channels on the terminal support platforms. Each platform includes at an end thereof a groove which receives a grounding strip in the form of a drain wire, commoned to an outer shielding shell. The receptacle connector has an insulating housing having two elongate slots thereacross, adapted for receiving the terminal support walls of the plug connector, and receptacle contacts for mating engagement with the plug connector terminals. The receptacle housing includes a groove in the front face carrying a grounding strip commoned to an outer shielding shell. The plug and receptacle are mateable with their respective shielding shells in mating contact with each other.

  • Patent number: 4946406
Abstract: Preloaded electrical connector comprises a housing having a terminal therein which is partially inserted into a terminal-receiving cavity. The terminal has a wire contacting lancet thereon and the housing cavity has camming wall portions which are effective, during movement of the terminal to its fully inserted position, to move the contacting lancet into engagement with a wire. Installation is carried out by inserting a wire into the partially inserted terminal and then moving the terminal from its partially inserted position to its fully inserted position. No specialized tooling is required for the installation process.

  • Patent number: 4940425
Abstract: The contact member defines a channel having a base from which project side walls bowed in portions of which define wire slots. Inwardly convergent wings surmounting each wire slot have insulation severing edges. When a lead is forced into the channel the edges sever the insulation of the lead so that the crests of the bowed portions engage the core of the lead. The wings are then bent across the channel to hold the lead down therein. The portions merge with dimples in the base so that the side walls and the base are continuous as seen in cross section through the wire slots, so that the rigidity of the contact member and the contact force exerted against the core, are improved.

  • Patent number: RE35873
Abstract: This invention is directed to a fully shielded printed circuit (PC) card holder, that may be readily "snapped" into the assembly, or disassembled, as the case may be. The holder is intended to receive a PC card, where at least one end of the card is adapted to be electrically connected to an I/O type connector. The holder comprises a generally rectangular bottom cover member formed of a conductive material, corner supports integrally molded to the bottom cover member at the respective corners thereof, where each support includes a lower flange portion to which the bottom cover member is exposed. Further, a generally rectangular upper cover member is provided where the periphery thereof includes a downwardly extending flange adapted to engage the lower flange portion in electrical contact with the bottom cover member over a substantial portion of the periphery thereof.
