  • Patent number: 4477211
Abstract: An improved cutting cartridge for rotary cutting tools is disclosed. The cutting cartridges are designed to be disposable and serve to permit the rotary cutting tools to be cheaply and quickly equipped with new cutting inserts without substantial effort, cost, or extensive time. The cutting cartridge essentially consists of a stator which is retained on a rotary cutting tool adapted to receive it. A rotor and a cutting insert are rotatably assembled on the stator and appropriately retained thereon.

  • Patent number: 4392046
Abstract: The present invention concerns an electronic voltage regulating device applied to electrical appliances, and more particularly, arc welding equipment comprising a voltage regulating portion having two SCRs alternately turned on and off by a controlling portion having a RC circuit, a DIAC and a TRIAC which is operationally characterized by the DIAC being triggered during each half cycle when the capacitor is charged to a predetermined potential by the application of alternating current, the DIAC then triggering the TRIAC, which in turn enables the gate of one of the two SCRs in each half cycle to turn the SCR on and allow current to pass through the load for the remainder of the half cycle, thus controlling the operable power by means of controlling the conducting phase angle through the adjustment of the RC value or the choice of the DIAC.

  • Patent number: 4378184
Abstract: An improved cutting insert for rotary cutting tools is disclosed. The cutting inserts are characterized by a center bushing made of metal that is softer than the conventional sintered tungsten carbide or titanium carbide used for the cutting body of the inserts. The center bushing may be secured on each cutting insert by using braising, shrink fitting, oxidation bonding, or high energy bonding techniques. Additionally, conventional plating techniques may be used.

  • Patent number: 4332337
Abstract: A foldable bicycle carrier for carrying bicycles and the like on automobiles and other vehicles is disclosed. The subject carrier is characterized by a unitary hanger member to which is movably attached a pair of legs. A locking mechanism serves to rotably attach each of the legs to the hanger member such that the subject carrier is able to be folded flat to have both the legs and the hanger member be in a single plane when the carrier is not in use. The locking mechanism also serves to lock each of the legs when the carrier is in an extended operative configuration to prevent accidental collapse or folding.

  • Patent number: 4320999
Abstract: A coolant flow guide system for an end mill is disclosed. The flow guide system is characterized by a flow guide collar that is adapted to be slipped around and over the end of a conventional end mill to provide a controlled fluid seal at the lowermost end of a conventional machine spindle. Coolant directed into the flow guide collar, either by a center-feed ducting system including a central duct through the length of a conventional drawbar or the use of an optional impellor cup in conjunction with a standard coolant nozzle, is directed into the flutes of an end mill to provide efficient cooling, lubrication, and a wash.

  • Patent number: 4286402
Abstract: An improved fishing lure retriever designed to be easily and quickly connected to a fishing line and lowered to retrieve an artificial fishing lure that has become snagged on an underwater object is provided. The subject fishing lure retriever is characterized by a hollow cylindrical body in the shape of a canister that is partially filled with shot or the like. A plurality of link chains extend from the leading end of the retriever to engage fishing hooks attached to the lure. The trailing end of the retriever is provided with an aperture to enable the retriever to be connected to an auxiliary drop line that allows the retriever to be lowered underwater. Slotted eyelets are situated on generally opposite ends of the retriever to serve as guides when associated with a fishing line to which a snagged lure is attached.

  • Patent number: 4043668
Abstract: A portable reflectance spectrometer is disclosed. The spectrometer essentially includes an optical unit and an electronic recording unit. The optical unit includes a pair of thermoelectrically-cooled detectors, for detecting total radiance and selected radiance projected through a circular variable filter wheel, and is capable of operating to provide spectral data in the range 0.4 .mu.m to 2.5 .mu.m without requiring conventional substitution of filter elements. The electronic recording unit essentially includes power supplies, amplifiers, and digital recording electronics designed to permit recordation of data on tape casettes. Both the optical unit and electronic recording unit are packaged to permit carriage as backpack items and thereby be manually portable.
