First and second crank arms are pivotally connected with the respective first and second connecting rods.     Abstract: A distracting cannula is provided which includes a first penetrating member having a first end and a second end. The first penetrating member has an internal surface providing a through bore operative to receive an elongated surgical instrument. The first penetrating member has an external gripping surface disposed between the first and second ends that is provided by a helical thread. A generally conical shroud has an open end for contacting the patient's skin. An opposite end of the shroud is attached to the first penetrating member near the second end. The first penetrating member first end is inserted into a portal incision of the patient's body until the shroud open end contacts the patient's skin. Torquing the tissue distracting cannula further caused the tissue gripping surface of the first penetrating member to pull the surrounding tissue upward into a cavity created by the shroud.

    Abstract: A two piece construction disposable carpal tunnel ligament tome is provided. In a preferred embodiment the tome has a handle, stem, cutting head with two forward extending and parallel spaced upper and lower forks. The handle, stem, cutting head and forks are injection molded as one plastic piece. Mounted in the cutting head is a blade fabricated from flat stock metal with a forward facing cutting edge concealed by the forks. Extending forward from the blade are upper and lower fork reinforcement members. The fork reinforcements are encapsulated by the molded upper and lower forks. The inventive carpal tunnel ligament tome provides very rigid forks, yet does not require the extensive machining required by tomes with metal forks. Since the blade and fork reinforcement can be fabricated from a flat stock material, fabrication costs can be lowered with extremely high performance of the tome being maintained.

A lag screw is also provided for positional retention of the first section of the bone with respect to the second section of the bone. The lag screw also has a first part of a resorbable material for threaded connection of the lag screw within the bore of the bone in at least the first section of the bone, the lag screw having a second part connected with the first part made from a stronger nonresorbable material.

The over-temperature alarm has a temperature sensor which is thermally connected to the hair-styling body. The sensor provides a voltage signal representative of the temperature of the hair-styling body. A variable reference voltage signal generator is powered by a DC battery power source. The reference signal generator has an adjustable range and the reference voltage signal is calibrated to coincide with a predefined operating temperature range. A comparative device comparing the representative and reference voltage signals is used to determine when the predefined operating temperature range is exceeded. An indicator device responsive to the comparative device is used to indicate a temperature of the hair-styling body exceeding the predefined operating temperature range of the hair-styling body.

    Abstract: An arrangement for connecting a vehicle seat in at least two positions is provided. The arrangement includes a floor first surface; a cross pin having a cross section with a first larger width and a second smaller width; a chair leg having a slot which has a first end wider than the cross pin first width, the slot also having a neck and a closure section divided away from the slot first end by the neck, the closure section having a dimension less than the cross pin first width and greater than the cross pin second width; and a lock arm with a finger for locking on to the pin about the second width to entrap the pin in the closure section of the slot. Thus, in a normal first seating position, the seat leg is positioned to place the cross pin in close proximity to the neck of the slot, and in a second fold-up storage position, the seat leg is held in a second position extending more vertically upward than in the first position by the latch locking on to the second width of the cross pin.
