  • Patent number: 4549623
Abstract: An automatic monitoring system for the constant current source in a balance having electromagnetic load compensation includes circuitry which generates a first current varying in dependence on the constant current and furnishes a digital signal indicative of the value of that current. A microcomputer is provided to compare the digital value to a reference value. If the comparison indicates that the constant current is outside of a given range of values, the microcomputer energizes the display to indicate the presence of an error.

  • Patent number: 4547249
Abstract: A band carrying a series of labels separated by gaps is transported step by step past a location at which individual labels are removed and automatically applied to boxes, etc. Along the path of the band, at a scanning station, a backing plate is provided on the empty side of the band, while the side with the labels is scanned by a device which consists of a feeler roller eccentrically mounted on an angle lever. As the roller drops into the gap between labels, the lever pivots, carrying along with it a bar whose opposite end normally interrupts the flow of air in an air cell. The rotation frees the air cell causing generation of a signal designed to stop the transport of the band. To allow for the relatively long response time of the cell, the bar is rotatably mounted on the lever and continues its motion due to inertia after the lever itself has stopped and even after it has reversed direction as the roller moves onto the next label.

  • Patent number: 4543452
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for the storage and recovery of information and subscriber's numbers while using a telephone register. By means of selection keys, the desired register card is removed from a stack of such cards by extending a drawer or the flapping up of a cover. A device connectable to a telephone makes it possible to automatically call up and dial stored subscriber's numbers. The keyboards with the selection keys of the telephone register and the subscriber's number dialing device are arranged in juxtaposed or superimposed manner in the telephone register casing (FIG. 1).

  • Patent number: 4542656
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for (a) monitoring fluid flow by transmitting acoustic signals in opposite directions through a fluid with components in the direction of flow; (b) receiving the transmitted signals; (c) providing a first signal representing acoustic velocity; (d) time-integrating the first signal to produce a ramp signal, the rate of change of which represents acoustic velocity in the fluid; (e) transmitting a first acoustic signal in one direction through a fluid; (f) transmitting a second acoustic signal in the opposite direction through the fluid; and (g) initiating integration of the first signal. The ramp signal is compared with a second signal representing fluid flow velocity to generate first and second arrival signals according to the direction of the transmitted acoustic signal; expected arrival times for the transmitted acoustic signals are compared with the actual arrival times of the transmitted acoustic signals, and the results of the comparisons are stored.

  • Patent number: 4392896
Abstract: A method of producing a gypsum plaster board. This method includes a step of preparing a starch paste which is effective to bond the gypsum core member and both paper boards. In this step, first, about 10-30 wt % of starch such as corn starch based on water is added to water and mixed to obtain milk of starch. Next, about 0.1-1.5 wt % of amylolytic enzyme such as .alpha.-amylase based on the starch is added and then heated to the decomposition point of the starch with stirring. After the heating is stopped at the range of DH 0.1-10, about 0.8-1.0 wt % of an enzyme deactivating agent based on the starch is added and mixed with water to prepare a starch paste. After the starch paste being prepared by the aforementioned process, a raw material of the gypsum core member, that is, calcined gypsum, reinforcing agent such as glass fiber, weight reducing agent such as surface active agent and the starch paste are mixed with water to obtain gypsum slurry.
