  • Patent number: 5119446
Abstract: The invention relates to a spherical rolling bearing which comprises an outer ring with a spherical race track, an inner ring, a plurality of rolling elements between the rings, and seals on one or both sides of the rolling elements. The invention is characterized in that the seals are formed with a rim which can be snapped against the spherical race track and kept in an outer ring by means of this rim and a portion which clamps against the side plane of the outer ring. By this design there is no need for the outer ring to be provided with grooves for holding the seals.

  • Patent number: 5115341
Abstract: A sun visor device for use in the cockpit of aircraft, comprising an optically active visor movably mounted in operable relationship with the windshield in said cockpit. The visor is polarized in the vertical plane and a polarized disk is movably mounted on the visor to permit both linear movement for positioning the disk and rotational movement for relative rotation between the vertical and horizontal polarization positions.

  • Patent number: 4909643
Abstract: A device for attachment of a machine member to a shaft, whereby the machine member has an opening for said shaft. The opening has on one hand surface portions of a shape corresponding to the shape of the shaft, cylindrical or tapering, and on the other hand, surface portions having a shape corresponding to the shape of the clamping surfaces of a clamping sleeve, for allowing optional attachment of the machine member directly on the shaft or by means of the clamping sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4904435
Abstract: A method of making a tamper-evident closure cap including the steps of forming a one piece closure cap from a plastic material having a top, a skirt depending from the top and a tamper-evident band depending from the skirt. The band has a radially inward directed rib and an annular portion between the skirt and the tamper-evident band. The annular portion is engaged with a cutting blade which has a cutting edge and series of spaced notches. The blade and the cap are rotated to form a plurality of circumferentially spaced bridges with a series of angularly inwardly disposed tabs.

  • Patent number: 4903439
Abstract: A method of grinding rough-shaped spherical objects to a finished spherical form comprising the steps of freely supporting the rough-shaped spherical object on one end of a vertically oriented tube. This one end is open and has an inside diameter such that a segment portion of the object lies within the tube. Next, an abrasive is applied to the surface of the object, and the object is ground by vibrating the tube axially at a frequency in the range of approximatelly 20-25 KHz, whereby the surface of the object is ground to a truer spherical shape.

  • Patent number: 4804273
Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for detecting the presence of particulate matter in liquids intended for pharmaceutical use, for example liquid contained in vials, flasks or ampoules. The method involves mechanically imparting to the vial or flask a rotary motion and then suddenly stopping it. Any particles contained in the liquid will continue to move, and will be illuminated by a number of parallel light beams of laser light, which are caused to pass through the liquid. Laser light diffused by particles in the liquid is converted into an electrical signal by a photomultiplier. The signal from the photomultiplier is amplified, filtered, and compared with a reference signal. The apparatus has a number of mandrel/chuck units which each impart a rotary motion to one container. At a second location, the light from a He-Ne laser is conveyed through optical fibers in the form of several parallel beams through each container, illuminated from below through a plurality of holes in the bottom of the mandrel.

  • Patent number: 4798482
Abstract: The double-row bearing assembly with axially split inner and outer barrel rings has at least one pair of corresponding barrel rings and is connected by means of a fastening member in a form-locking manner. At least one spacer member is provided between a pair of corresponding barrel rings which are prevented from moving axially outward by the form-locking connection provided by the rolling elements. The spacer is provided with projections pointing in both axial directions, which cooperate with the associated barrel rings to provide a positive form-locking connection in the radial direction.

  • Patent number: RE33437
Abstract: A cage for the rollers in a roller bearing in which the roller axes (2) define an angle with the bearing axis (3) has two annular portions (4, 5) and intermediate cage bars (6) defining cage pockets (7). The bars are situated radially inside of the roller axes with respect to the bearing and a flange (8) for guiding the roller by contacting their ends is extending radially outwards from one of the annular portions (4). A protrusion (9) is arranged on the flange (8) in connection to each pocket (7) or insertion into a recess in the adjacent roller end and thereby keeping the roller in the cage pocket. A recess (10) in the other annular portion (5) opposite each protrusion (9) simplifies the snapping of the roller into its pocket in the cage.
