  • Patent number: 7632467
Abstract: An automated pharmaceutical or biotech compound testing system uses a very small molded plastic shelf keeping unit or test tube known as a “minitube”. The minitubes are stored in trays in a standing refrigeration unit and are retrieved by a machine or robot having a die cutting tubular end effector adapted to selectively cut away and remove a minitube from an integrally molded matrix containing hundreds of minitubes (e.g., 384). Upon cutting a selected minitube away from the matrix, the end effector is pushed down over the selected minitube, thus forcing the minitube into the cylindrical interior lumen of the end effector, where it is retained by friction fit until such time as the minitube is to be releaseably locked into a plastic receiving tray. Minitubes are stored in the plastic tray which is adapted to receive and releaseably hold or lock the tubes in place.

  • Patent number: 7469794
Abstract: A container closure assembly comprising a container having a finish and external threads and a cup-like cap having a top and a depending circumferentially extending skirt having second internal threads engagable with the container threads. Detents are providing on one of said threads to normally prevent rotation of the cap in a direction to remove it from the container. First and second interengaging members are formed integrally with the cap and container. One of the interengaging members is flexible to bias the cap in an upward direction to maintain the threads in engagement when the cap is seated on the container. Displacement of the cap downwardly against the normal bias of the interengaging means displaces the cap and container threads to disengage the detents to permit rotation of the cap in a direction to remove it from the container.

  • Patent number: 6279231
Abstract: A method for securing the outer ring of the bearing in a runner shell wherein the radius of an edge defining the seat for the bearing varies in a predetermined manner around its circumference, the steps comprising, positioning an outer ring of the bearing in the seat of the runner shell so that the edge of the runner shell overlies a circumferentially extending seating groove in the outer ring, placing a die having a forming face in engagement with the peripheral edge of the runner shell, and deforming by means of a die, the edge of the runner shell seat in a manner to displace essentially the same material around the circumference of the edge into the bearing groove, thereby producing a generally uniform force on the bearing ring around the circumference of the ring which eliminates distortion thereof.
