Abstract: To allow optimum adaptation of irradiation equipment, especially irradiation equipment for photodynamic therapy, to the individual anatomy of a patient, an irradiation head (1) is provided with a plate-shaped middle section (2) and plate-shaped lateral leaves (3), mounted on the middle section (2) in such a way that they can swivel. The irradiation head can be rotated about two perpendicular axes (U, W), and its height can be adjusted. With its lateral leaves (3) extended, the irradiation head (1) has a plane configuration formed by the middle section (2) and the extended lateral leaves (3). The configuration is suitable for areal irradiation of the trunk or extremities of a patient. It can also be configured to a rectangular U shape suitable for three-sided irradiation, when the lateral leaves (3) are swivelled 90°. Radiation sources, e.g.
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system for determining the integrity of a sealed container utilizing one or more force signals which are converted into absolute force units is disclosed, providing a method that uses quantitative parameters, and can be validated. The force signals are measured in multiple data collection channels, and can be individually enabled or disabled by an operator to facilitate machine setup and troubleshooting. A user interface provides a display showing the force applied during the container-sealing process, as well as summary information regarding the status of multiple container-sealing machines in a production line.

Abstract: The combination comprising a figure element mounted on the bill of a cap. The figure element includes a removable compartment and the mounting means comprises an elongated threaded screw member having an enlarged head at one end engageable through a hole in the bill. A washer is disposed between the screw head and the bill. An enlarged tapered flexible ring is mounted between the outer surface of the bill and the bottom compartment. A lock washer threads on the shank of the screw remote from the head end. The flexible ring permits limited turning of the compartment when the screw is turned to a locked position to facilitate assembly and disassembly of the compartment from the figure element.
Abstract: An apparatus for weaving patterns comprising pattern threads and wrapping threads around an object having a central axis comprising an elongated slide tube and at least two side wheel assemblies, one of said side wheel assemblies mounted on said slide tube and the other of said side wheel assembly mounted on said object and spaced axially therefrom a distance greater than the axial extent of the pattern to be weaved; each of said side wheel assemblies having a thread wheel with a series of radially directed circumferentially spaced slots and a number ring having number indicia means which are axially aligned relative to one another and which correspond to pattern thread lines on a chart for a pattern; means for securing the pattern threads at one end to said object and engaging each of the threads in a numbered slot in one of the side wheel assemblies which may be selectively withdrawn from the slot in said one side wheel assembly and inserted into a corresponding number in said other side wheel assembly duri
Abstract: A frame device for supporting objects such as batteries during seismic stress, comprising a pair of end frame members mounted in upstanding spaced apart relation by a plurality of vertically spaced elongated channel support members secured at opposite terminal ends to the vertical columns of the end frame members, shelves for supporting batteries spanning the channel support members and defining a plurality of compartments for the batteries, each end frame member being formed of a single sheet material shaped to define vertical columns and a web extending between the end columns, a pair of anchors, elements for securing the end frames to the anchors, and elements defining a plurality of openings in the web of each end frame generally aligned with the compartments formed by the shelves to provide horizontal ventilation of batteries mounted in the compartments.
Abstract: A hub bearing assembly comprising a hub having a radially outwardly directed flange at one axial end for mounting the wheel of a vehicle, an outer ring having axially spaced raceways and a plurality of rolling elements arranged in two rows in the annular space between the outer ring and the hub, the diameter of the pitch circle of the outboard row of rolling elements adjacent said flange being greater than the diameter of the pitch circle of the rolling elements in the inboard row.
Abstract: Apparatus for dispensing pills packaged in a pack comprising a base and a top rotatably mounted on the base and defining a housing for the pill pack, a plunger mounted in the housing operable between inner and outer limit positions and having means for discharging one of the pills in the pack during cycling of the plunger between limit positions, means for rotating the pack only one pill increment at a time and child resistant means normally preventing cycling of the plunger between limit positions.
Abstract: The invention relates to a closure device for a vacuum sample collector, comprising an external cap (2), in a hard material, preferably a hard plastic component, with a top face (4) and a side skirt (5) surrounding the above, which may be connected to a sleeve-like opening section of the vacuum sample collector, and a sealing element (3) arranged on the container side of the external cap (2) made from an elastic material, preferably a soft synthetic component. The external cap (2) is turned inwards on its top face (4), and the section of the cap turned inwards forms a depression, the floor of which (10) has a turned-up section which faces outwards and which forms an essentially cylindrical projection (11), with a flat opening (12) and which, within the depression, terminates in an opening (13), arranged in a recessed manner with relation to the front face of the external cap (2), such that said opening is outside the contact area of a finger.
Abstract: A dispenser assembly for liquid products comprising an elongated, generally cylindrical barrel of a predetermined internal cross-sectional diameter having a discharge opening at one end and open at its opposite end, an elongated, generally cylindrical hollow plunger having an outer diameter less than the barrel internal diameter and a circumferentially extending axially directed sealing lip adjacent the tip portion having an outer diameter greater than the internal diameter of the barrel in the relaxed state to thereby flex the lip inwardly against its bias and providing the sole sliding contact between the plunger and barrel when the plunger and barrel are actuated axially relative to one another.
Abstract: The Invention is a cart for moving slabs of stone, such as marble and granite. In a first embodiment, main wheel support the weight of the slabs while front and rear end wheel prevent tipping of the cart. A hydraulic system withdraws the wheels, rendering the cart stationary. In a second embodiment, a main wheel carriage is clamped directly to a slab and bears its weight while smaller front and rear end wheel carriages clamped to the slab prevent tipping of the slab. The wheel arrangement of both embodiments allows the heavy slabs of stone to be readily maneuvered and rotated.
Abstract: The invention relates to an autofocusing method, particularly for telescopes for surveying instruments which are fitted with image sensors that resolve the image signal into individual image elements (pixels), such as CCD lines and/or matrices as well as CMOS image sensors. On the basis of the pixel that is located closest to the optical axis, the local signal amplitude is calculated from the monotonically decreasing or increasing signal all the way to the next local maximum and minimum. In this process, as long as this local signal amplitude is considerably smaller than the maximum signal and the focusing member of the telescope lens is in the focusing position for short focusing distances, this focusing member is shifted in large increments. Depending on the magnitude of the local signal amplitude, the focusing distance is shortened in the area of greater focusing distances in relation to the maximum signal and to the position of the focusing member.
