  • Patent number: 7683261
Abstract: An article for providing a sealing engagement between an electronic component and an encapsulate material is provided, wherein the electronic component extends from the encapsulate material. The article includes a housing including at least one opening for receiving the electronic component. The housing is filled with an encapsulate material such that it provides a seal between the housing and the electrical component. A sealing member is further disposed between the encapsulate material and the housing. A compression member is provided which exerts force onto the sealing member such that the sealing member engages the encapsulate material to provide a sealing engagement therebetween, and thereby provide a secondary seal between the housing and the electronic component.

  • Patent number: 7680829
Abstract: A system implementable using a programmable processor includes a plurality of pre-stored commands for building an inventory of audio, musical, works or audio/visual works, such as music videos. A plurality of works can be collected together in a list for purposes of establishing a play or a presentation sequence. The list can be visually displayed and edited. A plurality of lists can be stored for subsequent retrieval. A selected list can be retrieved and executed. Upon execution, the works of the list are presented sequentially either audibly or visually. The works can be read locally from a source, such as a CD, or can be obtained, via wireless transmission, from a remote inventory. If desired, establishment of a predetermined credit can be a pre-condition to being able to add items to the list for presentation.

  • Patent number: 7628344
Abstract: A fuel injector assembly for an emissions-based EMD 710 locomotive dieselengine. The fuel injector assembly includes a needle slidably positioned within a bore of a valve body of the injector assembly, where fuel pressure introduced into a bore chamber causes the needle to open a spray tip. A spring mounted within the bore forces the needle to close the spray tip when the fuel is not being applied. The spring is a dead coil spring including inactive coils where at least portions of the coils at both ends of the spring are in intimate contact with each other so as to reduce spring wear during operation of the assembly. Because the dead coil spring has reduced wear, the VOP set point of the fuel injector assembly can be reduced, which reduces NOx emissions.

  • Patent number: 7626794
Abstract: A faulted circuit indicator comprises a processor, which dynamically determines a conductor de-energization level based on a monitored average current. This dynamically-determined de-energization level and/or monitored average current may be used to provide dynamic inrush restraint and/or dynamic backfeed restraint (reset restraint). If current within a power conductor falls below the determined de-energization level, the processor determines that the conductor has de-energized, and accordingly ignores high current spikes less than a predetermined duration that occur during re-energization.

  • Patent number: 7617408
Abstract: A system and method provides accurate time generation in a computing device that includes a computing device clock and a microprocessor. The method includes determining a total system latency based on a delay incurred between issuance of a first command by the microprocessor and receipt of a first time-data signal by the microprocessor. The first time-data signal is representative of a master clock output of a master clock device at a first time. The method also includes deriving an accurate time from a second time-data signal. The second time-data signal is representative of the master clock output at a second time known by the microprocessor. The method further includes adjusting the accurate time based on a percentage of the total system latency to form a latency adjusted time, and applying the latency adjusted time to the computing device clock to synchronize the computing device clock to the master clock output.

  • Patent number: 7583771
Abstract: Systems and methods providing resampling of a sampled data transmitted through a communication channel. Reliable resampling is provided even when original data samples are lost or reordered during transmission through the network. In one embodiment, a receiver associates each received data sample with a respective sampling time instant. The received data may include index values that associate the received data samples with respective sampling time instants. In other embodiments, the received data includes time stamps with encoded sampling time instant information. In another embodiment, arrival time instants are used to correlate the received data samples with their respective sampling time instants. The receiver then uses the sampling time information to select data samples corresponding to resampling time instants. If needed, the receiver uses interpolation to generate resampled data points corresponding to the resampling time instants.

  • Patent number: 7582986
Abstract: Provided is a compensated inverse-time undervoltage load shedding system and method for use in an electrical power system. The compensated inverse-time undervoltage load shedding system includes a compensation element for determining a compensated value and an inverse-time undervoltage element operatively coupled to the compensation element and enabled based on the compensated value. When enabled, the inverse-time undervoltage element calculates a load shedding time delay value based on the compensated value, and determines a load shedding signal based on the load shedding time delay value. An associated load of the electrical power system is shed based on the load shedding signal. The compensation element may determine the compensated value using a voltage magnitude, a rate-of-change of power system voltage over time, a weighted rate-of-change of power system voltage over time, a current magnitude, a weighted current magnitude, and an impedance phasor value, to name a few.

  • Patent number: 7574579
Abstract: Described is an information dispersal system in which original data to be stored is separated into a number of data “slices” in such a manner that the data in each subset is less usable or less recognizable or completely unusable or completely unrecognizable by itself except when combined with some or all of the other data subsets. These data subsets are stored on separate storage devices as a way of increasing privacy and security. A metadata management system stores and indexes user files across all of the storage nodes. The metadata management system stores metadata for dispersed data where: the dispersed data is in several pieces; and the metadata is in a separate dataspace from the dispersed data.

  • Patent number: 7574570
Abstract: A billing process is disclosed for a information dispersal system or digital data storage system. In one embodiment of the invention, the original data to be stored is separated into a number of data “slices” or shares in such a manner that the data in each subset is less usable or less recognizable or completely unusable or completely unrecognizable by itself except when combined with some or all of the other data subsets. These data subsets are stored on separate digital data storage devices as a way of increasing privacy and security. As dispersed file shares are being stored or removed from a grid of distributed storage locations, a set of metadata tables are created, separate from the dispersed file share storage, to maintain information about the original data size of each block, file or set of file shares dispersed on the grid.

  • Patent number: 7557655
Abstract: An accurate linear equivalent of an analog signal may be produced across an isolation barrier by driving a primary transformer winding with a drive amplifier and compensation amplifier, where the compensation operational amplifier amplifies a difference between a signal produced on a sense winding of the transformer and a combination of the input analog signal and output of the drive amplifier. The system may be stabilized by a lead-lag network between the sense winding, input signal, and operational amplifier. The transformer may comprise an isolation barrier to isolate the input analog signal from a signal winding. The primary winding of the transformer, driven by the operational amplifier and driver amplifier circuit, may produce a linear equivalent of the input analog signal across the isolation barrier on a signal winding of the transformer.
