  • Patent number: 5981617
Abstract: A multi-step process that yields a gas permeable contact lens that is more comfortable to wear due to an increased amount of moisture retention between the cornea and the lens and that also provides an increased amount of oxygen to the cornea to prevent the many potential problems occurring due to insufficient oxygen in the cornea area. The process entails exposure of the concave side of a gas permeable contact lens to far infrared light, thereby creating an electron deficiency on the concave side of the lens (the side which contacts the cornea). This electron deficiency drives a surface reaction upon the lens that produces water and oxygen as products, thereby providing the oxygen and moisture. Subsequent steps in the process are similar, although each subsequent exposure results in greater electron depletion of the concave side of the contact lens, thereby causing the contact lens to be increasingly effective in retaining moisture and oxygen with each additional exposure.

  • Patent number: 5761761
Abstract: A tri-sectioned multi-purposed golf towel comprising two side of fabric, one side preferably being made of an absorbent material such as terry cloth, and the other side made of a more coarse material, wherein the rectangular towel is divided into three longitudinal sections of equal width, first, second and third longitudinal sections. The first longitudinal section is folded over the second longitudinal section, and then the third longitudinal section is folded over the first longitudinal section. The ends of the towel are secured by binding strips to prevent fraying of the towel. The upper end of the trifolded towel is then stitched transversely. Adjacent to the permanently bound end, preferably centrally disposed on one of the outer faces of the towel, is a circular looping patch which corresponds to a circular hooking patch which is located on the outer face of the towel as well.

  • Patent number: 5699928
Abstract: The present invention is a disposable device which is attached to the tab of a conventional aluminum beverage can at the time of manufacture. When a consumer pulls the device upward, the tab is likewise pulled upward to a position in which the consumer can easily grasp the tab and consequently open the can. Two embodiments of the present invention are provided.

  • Patent number: 5598753
Abstract: An eagle wing tips tamper-proof fastener and driver tool with complementary driver head contact for operating the same. A conventional threaded shank is perpendicularly connected to a substantially flat head. The head comprises a plurality of recessed channels numbering three and the channels radially curve outwards from a common center point. In one embodiment, the substantially vertical right and left walls of each channel allow application of torque with the driver tool in both directions. In an alternate embodiment, the substantially vertical right wall and the surface of the substantially inclined left wall allow application of torque with the driver tool to the right only.

  • Patent number: 5586566
Abstract: A zig-zag method of braiding hair which is applied to the production of braided wigs and hair pieces. The method suggests three specific and essential steps to producing two identical hair pieces. The first step is to arrange a single lock of braided hair in a zig-zag orientation. The second step is to affix a pair of bases, one on each side of the zig-zag oriented lock of hair, and the third step is to make an incision down the middle of the zig-zag equidistant from each side of the of the ends of the zig-zags, resulting in two identical hair pieces. The hair that is used in this process can either be real hair, synthetic hair, or a mixture of both.

  • Patent number: 5575024
Abstract: The present invention is a bed comprising a mattress which, in the event of an earthquake, is mechanically lowered into its rectangular frame. The movement caused by the earthquake further causes an attached, large, rectangular cover to mechanically collapse onto the top of the rectangular frame, thereby protecting the occupant or occupants of the bed. The bed and cover contain additional springs and supports, respectively, which enable the present invention to withhold the weight of accumulated and falling debris. Once an occupant is safely within the collapsed bed, means are provided within the bed to sustain the life of the occupant until outside assistance is received. When the cover of the bed is in its uncollapsed position, it unobtrusively lies against a wall of a bedroom acting as a vertical extension of the headboard and further containing useable and decorative shelves and/or cabinets.

  • Patent number: 5569096
Abstract: A golf club putter having adjustable lie angle and shaft length comprises as major components a hollow handle, a shaft length adjusting mechanism, a shaft, a lie angle adjusting mechanism, and a putter. With the shaft inserted into the handle, threadably tightening a locking nut over a flexible ring and a external thread until the flexible ring is squeezed over the shaft prevents the shaft from slipping--thereby effectively locking the shaft in the desired length. When the locking nut is threadably loosened, the flexible ring is relaxed around the shaft and thereby the shaft is free to be lengthened or shortened. Applying an angular pressure to upper portion of the shaft bends bendable metal piece whereby a desired angle is achieved.

  • Patent number: 5565936
Abstract: Camera film has a pre-exposed image longitudinally thereon and is thereupon packaged into a canister for insertion into a camera. The canister carries a flexible masking strip. When the canister is inserted into the camera, the masking strip is spread across the camera film plane opening. As the film is advanced across the film plane opening for successive exposures, the masking strip prevents individual frame exposure of the previously exposed image. A masking insert can be alternatively inserted into the camera to mask the film edge.
